Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Light dancing with Darkness ❯ waking up to hell ( Chapter 4 )
"Prince Yami, now that the heir of the light realm is in your hands and his land under your rule, perhaps we should began preparations to conquer Pegasus's as well."
Yami watched the stoic blue-eyed man kneel at his feet through the wine glass he held. He swirled the red wine in it so he became thoughtful. He finally sighed, a small smirk curving the sensuous line of his lips. "Why the rush, Seto Kaiba?"
"Yami--"
The young Pharaoh held up a long-fingered hand. "Pegasus's kingdom will not be able to stand against the might of our two Kingdom's. It should take no more than a flicker of our power to topple it, do you not think so?"
"Yes, but if we do not act soon, then Pegasus could manipulate other Kingdom's to come to his aid."
"That will not be so. Everyone knows of his devious ways and will not help him." Yami leaned forward in his throne slightly. "It was because of you, Kaiba, that our shadow realm is so powerful."
Seto Kaiba smiled. "Thank you, Pharoah."
Yami set his glass back on the silverr platter held by a servant standing beside his throne. In one smooth motion and a flutter of his cape, the young Pharaoh stood, ready to walk out of the room, his personal maids following.
"Yami."
"Nani?"
Kaiba climbed to his feet. "What would you like me to do with the little prince and his friends?"
Yami stopped mid-step. "Leave our little prince to me. Bakura seems quite taken with the mage. You can do what you want with the other," he commanded.

Jou banged his fist against the stonewall. It was weird, but the pain actually comforted him, a tangible link to reality. It was really the only thing he could do to pass the time the enemy made a move. He sighed and slumped to the same dirty floor he'd almost thrown up on at first sight. It was nice to see that they haven't lost their touch with treating guests in the proper manner. And where the hell were Yugi and Ryou? They certainly were not down in one of these cells.
Jou missed Yugi, Ryou, home, and yes-even Anzu. At the thought of his friends his already low spirit sank even lower, to his toes. Where the hell were they now? They weren't being badly treated……were they? The young commander rested his arms on his bent knees and buried his face in the crook. He silently vowed to himself that once he gets out of this dingy dungeon, he would find them and seek revenge for every single misdeed they had done to them.
So deep was Jou in his thoughts that he didn't hear someone enter his cell until the golden eyed teen found himself jerked roughly to his feet and staring into bottomless blue eyes.
*~*~*
Seto Kaiba couldn't help but cringe at the sight of the dungeons, and the odor was nauseating. The smell of burnt flesh, dead bodies, blood, and other body fluids Seto didn't want to think about had hit him full force the moment he had opened the large iron doors. The rugged stone steps revealed by them lead downwards towards a cold darkness where occasional moans of agony and pain could be heard.
Seto hadn't even realized he'd stopped and was just staring. Quickly composing himself, he began to walk down the narrow, but winding, staircase. The commander exchanged some rapid words with the soldier at the bottom, and with a bow, the man led him through the dark passage before stopping in front of the most inner cell and unlocking the metal gate.
By the dim light of the torches held by iron clasps in the concrete wall, the commander could see the outline of a lean slender form with a mop of wheat blonde hair that hid his tired features.
Seto snorted and crossed the space between them in two long strides. Pulling the boy brutally to his feet, he got his first good look at the startled face. Even though he had seen the youth before, it still took his breath away…literally.
The unmistakable crack of a fist connecting with someone's jaw resounded through the entire dungeon, followed by shocked cry of the dungeon guardsman. The soldier present immediately leapt forward to land a solid kick to the back of Jou's legs, forcing the young captive to cry out and fall to his hands and knees before Seto.
For several moments, there was no sound other than heavy breathing. Seto rubbed his jaw, face devoid of any readable expression. Finally, he let out a low chuckle, and with two fingers under Jou's chin, gently lifted his head until the captive was staring straight at him. Seto smirked wolfishly at the sight of the other's eyes spitting gold sparks.
"You have spirit, I see," he said finally. "All the more fun it will be to break you."
"You'll never break me!" was the defiant reply. Jou was rewarded with a hard punch to the face making him sprawl onto his side, face covered by his arm in a protective manner.
A minute later, the metal gate to his cell slammed closed and footsteps died out. And yet he didn't move, just laid there on the dirt floor, hand rubbing his bruised cheek. There was a shuffling next to him; a woman clearing her throat to get Jou's attention and Jou peeked through the imposing rusty bars at the women watching him.
"Who are you? I've never seen you before" The stranger's voice was smooth with a distinct royal accent.
"Jounachi Katsuya."
The women started, then relaxed. "So that's it," she smiled. "That's why the Pharaoh's commander himself came to see you."
Jou didn't answer. He sat back against the wall, still facing the women who had thick blonde hair and rather a tall stature
"Well, I don't think you'll be staying here long."
A hesitant golden blink. "Why do you say that?"
The women gave a humorless laugh. "None of the important ones do. That's why this prison is hardly ever full."
"What's so special about this prison?"
"It's where royalty and other significant people go."
"…Oh…"
The blonde-haired stranger extended a hand through the bars. "I'm Mai, former advisor for the Pharaoh."
Jou shook the offered hand. "What did you do to displease him?"
Mai grinned darkly. "Oh, you know. I happened to have a `thing' with one of his priests that shouldn't have a `thing' with anybody. Something about, "if they loose their virginity then they loose their powers" heh. Whops."
Jou couldn't help but smirk. He could see the look on Yami's face and he felt oddly smug. "I take it that your `thing' didn't go down too well with him?"
"Oh no, I never want to look at another glowing eye of Horis again."

Ryou gave a soft groan as he felt himself being gently lowered to a soft springy surface, which he presumed a bed. His mind was wollowing in haziness and his eye lids wouldn't obey him so he could see around him.
The mattress he was on shifted slightly on his left side under weight of another person and he felt a cool hand gently touch his sweaty forhead for a brief moment before being pulled away. He wanted to protest but his voice wouldn't work. He was floating between conciousness and sleep, that odd feeling you get when your beginning to wake up.
Muffled voices were heard around his but he didn't recognise any of them. His mind seemed to fix on one in paticular. One that was deep and smooth, very masculine and Ryou knew he should feel threatened by it as memories began to resurface but he didn't have the will or energy and he was strangely lulled by it.
Broken sentences entered his mind before he fell back into the land of dreams.
"……Should awaken in the next couple of days……"
"……Used a lot of energy……shouldn't have……"
"……I'll take care of him……after all, he is mine now……."
"……Mine……"

Yugi was awakened by the sound of one of the guard's voices shouting at him, announcing morning. When his eyes finally opened, he looked at the armor-clad figures in front of him. For the first time since he had been locked in this bedroom for guests, someone bowed to him. Eight someones.
"Prince Yugi, we have come to escort you to your--"
The young man didn't let him finish, and got up. "Lead the way. If I'm to be killed, then I'm going to be killed with pride."
