Light in Darkness

Katsuya Jonouchi made his way over to the Prince of Light, still ready to attack the other ruler beside him. The blonde glared at Yami, as if telling him to stay away from him and his friends.

"Hey Yug, dis dude botherin' ya?" the guard's tone was icy.

Yugi looked up at his buddy. "No. He's been granted permission to be anywhere he wants to be in the Light Kingdom; that includes anywhere in the castle."

To say the least, the honey-eyed male was speechless. He gaped at his leader and then slowly nodded, turning to leave.

"Of course, Your Highness…"

Yugi flinched at Jou addressing him like that again. He looked to the door, only to spot Ryou, Shizuka, Duke, and Tea. He realized they had seen Yami kiss him, making the teen flush a deep shade of red. Yami stood and leaned next to Yugi's ear.

"I'll be heading back to my kingdom now. I hope you enjoy the rest of your ball. I will see you at midnight…"

With that, the Darkness left, leaving a curious Mutou.

Duke walked up to the Light, Tea beside him. They both looked extremely pale, radiating with worry. Duke cautiously took a small breath.

"Yugi…did our Lord get near your neck…?"

The ruler of the light kingdom looked at the floor, suddenly finding his boots interesting. He lifted his right hand to the side of his neck tilting it to the left slightly, so they could see. Tea and Duke gasped and looked very vexed. Now Yugi was a creature of the night…Stupid Ruler of Darkness and his insatiable bloodlust…

"He just wanted your blood Yugi, you don't have to worry about seeing him again."

Yugi stared at them. "He said I was his 'Little One' and that he's coming back to see me tonight at midnight."

The two demonic vampires were startled. Why would the cold-hearted ruler of the Dark Kingdom do such a thing? The two gaped at Yugi. Could the Ruler of Light actually be The One? The Chosen One who melts the Great Lord's icy heart?

~*~*After the Ball*~*~

Yugi sighed and drummed his fingers on his bedpost. Strangely enough, he felt an odd yearning for the Dark King; making him restless. He sighed in unreasonable anger, standing from his spot on the bed. He stormed out of the room and straight to his head advisors; Merik and Ishizu.

"I want you to get the King of the Dark Kingdom here now."

The two advisors were stunned at their ruler's tone. He had never been mean to anybody in the palace. Let alone them. Merik's eyes gazed over his friend's features. He seemed angry, but there was something else. Was it sorrow? No, it couldn't be. It looked like…the platinum-blonde's lavender eyes widened. He took in a sharp breath and nodded to Yugi.

"Of course, I'll head over there myself to fetch him."

Merik bowed, ignoring his sister's questioning glances, and headed out to the Dark Kingdom.

~*~*At the Dark Kingdom*~*~

Yami growled in irritation. Bakura and Seto were watching him with worry, along with a beautiful blonde woman with royal-purple eyes. Her name was Mai, who spoke up first.

"Yami? Are you alright?"

The crimson-eyed male gave her a semi-glare. "I want him here now. I don't want to wait until midnight!"

Bakura snorted amusingly. "Why is that Yami? You love him; don't you?"

Yami twitched. "…yes, bring him here NOW!"

Seto, Mai, and Bakura backed away slightly. They were about to leave the royalty's bedroom chambers when a servant entered.

"Excuse me, Sire. B-but there is a young man here who wishes to see you; claiming to be an advisor of the Prince of the Light Kingdom."

Yami sat straight up, blood-red eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Send him in!"

A/N: Okay! ^__^ I'm SO sorry that it took so long to update and SO sorry that it's so short. @.@ *sighs* I think I REALLY need to get away from school for a bit, ne? I just came back from a three-day vacation to Virginia's Busch Gardens! I love the roller coasters, but I think I prefer the roller coasters at Six Flags.
