I DON'T OWN YUGIOH OR ANY OF ITS CONTENCE

Chapter 1

I was welcomed into my new life with cries of anguish, roars of anger and the brush of an icy shoulder. I was sided with an evil nutcase and even considered as one myself. Maybe I am. But I was never given a chance so they don't really know who I am. But that soon changed as a light swallowed me whole and pulled me up from the darkness, my darkness. This new light shone on me and continually sheltered me from my own darkness that pried on my mind, embraced me tightly and gave me a meaning to live. I was released from the ring and given my own body, a new life, and a chance.

Pain, fear, love, lust, anger and happiness. I felt it all.

"BAKURA!" I almost fell off my seat at seeing my Hikari's face right in mine.

"Yes Ryou?" Ryou my Hikari, my other half was here for me since the beginning, he was with me and never left my side. Yet he could not protect me, he helped me to become what I was now, a kinder and much saner person than what I was, but he couldn't do what someone was yet to do.
He grinned back at me, noticing my drifting state and spoke up.

"I'm just going down to the grocery store, ill be back in time to make tea. So you can go out if you want. Just be back by tea." I just gave a short nod and watched as he left before grabbing my own coat and heading out the door, deciding a walk was in order.

The world had changed a lot since my death five thousand years ago. Several weeks ago Ryou took me to Egypt to see it. What I saw shocked me to the core. So much of Egypt's history, its glory, what made it a world power, it was lost. The Valley of the Kings remained, but so many of the tombs were open, great kings disturbed from their slumber. The great city of Memphis, that no longer stood, completely destroyed. When I first came out into this New World, I could do nothing but what I had learned in Egypt. Now, now I could cook, I could drive, read and write not only in Japanese but also in three other languages and I had an education, something I would never of had in Egypt.

Shortly after Yami and I got our own bodies I noticed that our true colours shone brighter than ever before and they were quite the reverse.

Yami was touring the world, apparently he was some kind of icon to teens every where. Sure if you like self obsessed whore. I had noticed that the pharaoh's Hikari had been slowly drifting away from him; his light was slowly dimming. Though Yami didn't seem to do anything to fix it, he just kept walking away, and taking his little group with him, he forgot about his own Hikari.

I could never understand how a Yami would forget about his Hikari. I would never forget about Ryou, and Ra knows when I'm in a bad mood, I often try. But his light is always there, shining on me and reminding me of his presence, whether I want to acknowledge it or not. Even Marik is there for his Hikari, sure he maybe extremely psychotic (maybe a bit of an understatement) but he's there.

It's probably none of my business.

I turn another corner heading in no general direction, just letting my feet take me where they will. Streetlights are starting to light up the side walk and the traffic starts to diminish. The clouds overhead began to growl and open up, letting the world soak up their misery. The down pour reminds me that I have to get back in time for tea, so turning around I follow the route I know leads to home.

On my way I make it past the 'Kame Game Shop.' the lights are on in the upstairs portion of the small building and everything looks cosy. The pharaoh's red BMW soft-top isn't sitting in the driveway so I'm guessing he's off on another one of his tours. So Yugi's home alone, maybe I should invite him around for tea, Ryou always cooks more that needed so I'm sure he wont mind.

Moving to stand under the small veranda I give the door a loud rap. I didn't have to wait long before the door swung open on its hinges and Yugi's head popped around the corner.

"Yes? Can I-Bakura?" He swung the door back entirely so that I could see his full frame. He had changed during the past few years, going through a full growth spurt. Now reaching about 5'10', and loosing all of his childish features he no longer looked like a kid, but a young adult.

I gave him one of my crude smirks and without permission stepped inside and out of the rain.

"Ryou has tea on and if you hadn't had some yourself, I was wondering if you would like to join us?" He looked at me quizzically before turning and walking away. I frowned slightly. 'Is that a no then?'

"Just let me lock up and get my coat." 'Oh'

It had taken us approximately ten minuets to walk to my place and upon arriving Ryou seemed pleasantly surprised. Yugi quickly made himself at home and headed into the kitchen to help with tea while I silently I set the table and sat down, waiting for the food to be served up.

Ryou and Yugi talked for all of about an hour over tea as I silently watched and picked up on little bits of conversation. Nothing much interesting I assure you.

At the end of the night I was seemingly grateful to not be assaulted by Ryou, and all I got was,

"That has to be the strangest thing you've done Bakura, the nicest but the strangest." I just gave a disgruntled sigh and headed for my room.

Little did I know this was not to be the end of my strange acts.
