Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ lil_Jinx's Yu-Gi-Oh! Song Book ❯ In Dreams ( One-Shot )
~@When the cold of winter comes,*~
His eyes wandered the graveyard. The blue orbs saw the grave again. He saw his brothers name again, written for the dead to see.
It had been so long since he'd been here....
~@Starless night will cover day,*~
The angel watched as his brother walked up to his head stone. The fingers ran across it as they both remembered the crash that stole his life....
~@In the veiling of the sun,*~
"NO! Big brother!"
"I have to do this, Mokuba!"
"But I don't want you hurt!"
Seto whirrled around and faced his frightened brother, his eyes were steel, as they'd been the last month towards Mokuba.
~@We will walk in bitter rain,*~
"I either have to do this, or risk getting the company taken away! Is that understood?"
"Yes, big brother." Mokuba shuffled into the manssion and ran to find Greg, his body guard and his only source of comfort now days.
"I hope you understand this is for us, Mokie." Seto closed his azure eyes and sat down in the limo and drove off, tears spilling into his hands and onto his lap.
~@But in dreams,*~
The grave was all Mokuba could hold onto.
He had thought that for seven months, Seto had purposly killed himself to get Mokuba's love away, but Yugi had told him the truth.
"Niisama, Seto, Big brother...." He began to cry.
~@I still hear your name,*~
Seto remembered the crash, remembered how he was rushed to a hospital but was told he wouldn't make it through the night.
He woke in the cot and found Mokuba struggling to get in as the nurses and doctors told him to leave and were holding the boy back. He kept screaming out Seto's name, he kept trying, like it was all he had left.
But Seto....
~@And in dreams,*~
Mokuba remembered Seto not even looking at him when he opened his eyes. He remembered Seto hadn't even cared that Mokuba was worried, he seemed more interested in the ceiling than in Mokuba, so finally, Mokuba gave up and just broke down crying.
The doctors led the boy away and left Seto alone. Mokuba was sitting by himself with Greg when Seto died, calling out for Mokuba to come back, calling out that he wanted to see his brother, but then he died seeing Mokuba on the other side of the glass window on the side, with tears in his eyes and in Greg's arms and wasn't even looking at him.
~@We will meet again,*~
Mokuba looked through his drawer of socks and found the locket with Seto's picture in it. He kissed in and hung it in the window, like he'd done ever night hoping Seto would be in his dreams.
Tonight was different. Yugi had asked if he could help Mokuba see Seto. But it didn't mean he was sleeping over. His grandfather wanted him back in bed before the night was over.
"Do you think Seto will really want to see me, Yugi?"
"Yeah, hey, was this his, too?" Yugi held up a beautiful crystal horse with golden hoofs.
"Yeah, I gave it to him a few years before he died." Mokuba gently pulled a box out of his closet. "Here, these were given to me when Seto died." He held out a crystal picutre frame with a picture of Seto and Mokuba before the crash. "I like to place this one on my pillow at night."
"Well, now that everythings exposed, Yugi-oh!" Yugi looked up and nearly scared Mokuba into orbit.
~@When the seas and mountains fall,*~
"Well, now, put this on your pillow and sleep, Mokuba," Yami said after Mokuba had caught his breath. "Then you should enter dream state and see him there, OK?"
"Thanks, Yami Yugi!" Mokuba ran to his bed and put the picture on his spare pillow and laid down for resting.
~@And we come, to end of days,*~
The dark hall stretched out, long into the distance.
Mokuba kept calling out Seto's name, when he heard the sound of running footsteps to him. 'Is it Seto?' Mokuba began to run, calling out Seto's name and then he stopped seeing Seto standing there, alone and he was wearing his Battle City outfit.
~@In the dark I hear a call,*~
"Seto!"
He didn't turn around. Mokuba stared at his back for a long time. He still didn't turn and face Mokuba.
"Seto...." Mokuba began to cry. He fell to his knees in defeat as he watched his tears pool and no one to stop it. "Seto, I'm sorry. I think it'd be best if I turned back and let you be." He stood up, shakily and started to walk away, when he stopped. "Goodbye, sir. I hope you like your new home."
~@Calling me there,*~
Seto stiffend, hearing his little brother say 'sir' instead of 'big brother', or 'Seto' like he used to. He whirrled around and saw Mokuba's puddle of tears and Mokuba walking away, trying to dry his tears.
'Mokuba! No! Come back! Don't leave me like you did the night I died! Mokuba!' He reached out and grabbed Mokuba's shirt collar. "Mokuba...." He whispered as he held onto all he had left. "Mokuba, I'm sorry, forgive me. I just can't see what I lose until it's leaving me and I can't find it."
~@I will go there,*~
'YAMI! WE DID IT!'
'Yes we did, Yugi. Now if you don't mind, I'm tired, and I don't know the way back.'
"Seto." Mokuba rolled over right into the real Seto, who'd been sleeping there. They were both shocked awake.
Yugi was giggling up a fit. "I told you I'd help you, Mokuba-chan!"
"Thanks, Yugi, but I wasn't expecting to see him alive!"
"Us three are the only one's who will remember Seto died and came back. Greg won't remember, neither will my friends." Yugi smiled. "And if your going to thank someone, thank my friend Shadi!" Yugi closed the door.
Seto and Mokuba looked at each other. Then at the door, then back. Mokuba grinned and Seto smiled at his brother. They were happy now, and Yugi was yawning the whole way back to his house.
~@And back again.*~
