Party Conclusion
I was talking to Duke and the party was going splendidly as everyone mingled, and true to his word, Duke had indeed invited half the people from his school. Apparently, Seto Kiaba had not shown up, I was a little relieved, he did not seem to like me in our last encounter. I still loved him in some perverted way but I just couldn't bear to think of what could have been
I was talking to Duke and the party was going splendidly as everyone mingled, and true to his word, Duke had indeed invited half the people from his school. Apparently, Seto Kiaba had not shown up, I was a little relieved, he did not seem to like me in our last encounter. I still loved him in some perverted way but I just couldn't bear to think of what could have been
I tried not to dwell on that and instead thought of Duke.
A "college" he said was where these Americans went to study. I found that often the boys where quite disgusting, when nobody was looking, making ghastly sounds with their backsides, and mouths. And the stenchlet us not go there.
"So, Avi are you missing your home yet? In Europe?" Duke chimed making me forget all about the world aside from his face. He had made up the cutest little nickname for me and I was quite pleased, how it rolled off of his tongue.
"Wellactually, yes" I said , and my eyebrows furrowed as I thought about it and found I really did miss my home in Egypt, a great deal.
"It must be hard for youwas theresomeone special there?" Duke asked my, his ethereal green eyes searching my face for answers.
"There wasbut it seems as if we are worlds apart now, I think it will not work" I said silently, as my eyes slid over to Yami, who was making hand gestures and talking furiously and lively with Bakura.
"Is henot geographically desirable? Or are you two split? " Duke said softly, with a smile.
"Split I would say" I answered quickly, as I saw Tea walk over to Pharaoh and begin talking with a lively zest.
"I am sorry, and not sorry" he said whispering, and I felt an arm snake around my waist, tentatively.
looked up at him with a puzzled expression and he laughed softly, a slight rumble in his throat, and he put a finger under my chin and I could only stop breathing
"I am sorry to see that hurt in your eyes Avi" he said and I released my breath. Thank Ra he wasn't going to-
"But your mine now" and with that, his lips would have descended on my own, if a torrent of party balloons where let from the net up top, and a multi-colored rainbow surrounded us, in little balls of air.
laughed as they fell and also laughed as Duke looked so sad. He had almost kissed me, and I was too giddy to care he did it without permisssion. But that look on his face was worth seeing, and I felt so sad for him.
pulled his head down by his pony tail and kissed him right on the lips, a chaste and fun kiss, not as endearing as he would have liked but heythis party was for me and about meit was whatever I wanted.
's expression changed from sad to surprise to contentment. And I was a little happier when he wrapped his arms around me and we watched the balloons fill the room and laughed when they began to bat them around. We heard loud pops and I was humored to see Pharaoh on his backside with a pink balloon lying crushed beneath him. He was staring at Duke and I with an expression I could not decipher.
"The party is over, the balloons have fallen" I said with a smile to Duke.
"It sure is" he said, and his grip got tighter on me.
"So this means I must say good-bye to you" I said and even to me it sounded like a sorrowful question.
"Not at allthis mess has to get cleaned up some how" he said, and he released me and by the time I had looked around, Duke was smirking with a can, of the multi-colored spider webs that he called "Silly String".
I had seen what they did.
"You wouldn't dare" I said with an equally haughty grin.
dared.
A little Worse for the Wear: Holidays pt 1
I hustled back to my room. It was late into winter, December. I trudged back up the stairs to my apartment I had begun to rent.
wasn't long after that great night a while ago, that I had courting duke more formally. He had gone to the cinema, a zoo and other wondrous things, that this new land had to offer. I was excited and I couldn't sate my thirst for more about this new world. I had become much for familiar with htings and could pass for a weird person by myself. We where still in San Francisco, each day we where getting closer to the answer of why the duel monsters had suddenly come to life, in this land. I practiced with the Pharaoh, thrice a week, we both had the Magick pulsing within us and we where beginning to be able to open more doors than ever within his ancient labyrinth of a mind. We have thought about telling him, Bakura and I, but we think that if we did, his mind may seal away all the ancient secrets that neither I nor Bakura know. So I work with him, we metaphysically explore his mind, Yami, Yugi, and I walk through and open every door and with my added Magick we have been able to mark the doors, so that we get a little accomplished each time.
pranced up the stairs, my apartment was nice, because come to find out, museums give funding to those who donate priceless artifacts. Those gold coins and a few of my bracelets had paid for more than just my apartment, infact I am set for life.
lives a few doors down and Mateo of course stays with me, by my side. There are two bedrooms and yet he has gotten better and more independent, I still find he crwls into my bed sometimes, but I am starting to think that maybe, just maybehe isn't doing it for just comfort anymore.
bags I carried where heavy and my flight up the steps was not easy. It was the "Season of giving" as dear little Yugi had put it and I was giving a lot this year. In Egypt we had festivals somewhat like this "Christmas". Supposedly there had been a savior of some sort, that was around after I got transported through all those centuries of time. I was not witness to the miracles of this man named Jesus, so it is not my place to say what happened and what did not.
I know is why did he have to have a holiday that made you have a broken back carrying all these presents around?! The large man with a white beard, must have a severe back problem, not to mention arthritis.
pulled my keys from my pocket and stuck them in the door so that it would open. I pushed my way through the door and immediately dropped the bags on the ground. Ra, they where heavy! I also bought a tube of wrapping paper, quite an ingenious device of torture I think. Wrapping precious presents and setting them in plain view but not being able to open them?! These people where mad, simply mad, I tell you. I had almost gotten pummeled by a woman who was eyeing the scarf I had in my cart!
scooted the presents into the closet, and shut the door, and set down my keys and took off my coat.
went to the kitchen and checked the time. It was four o'clock. That left me with enough time to wrap some of the presents and then run by Bakura's for a visit. Yes, in all this time Bakura had become quite a friend to me, and although he and Yami had played several tricks on the unknowing Duke, I loved Bakura still. Now if you ask me how I love him and I won't be able to explain. It was one of those things where you don't know if you could be with them, or with them, understand?
sighed as I looked at the clock and though, I should go over to Bakura's early just for fun. Often times he would put on tea and we would talk of Egypt. He was the only one who remembered our home and it was reassuring. I found Bakura was much more intellectual and philosophical than people thought and I had come to know him more personally in the time we have been here.
walked to his door 409, while mine was 405. I knocked and he answered it. I smiled at him then looked appreciatively at how he looked because indeed Bakura was one of the most handsome men I knew.
was still not much taller than I, but his hair had grown a bit more, and now he kept it in a loose ponytail. A few wavy locks drifted away from his ethereal face, that a pair of chocolate eyes adorned. The most beautiful auburn eyes I had ever seen. He was as pale and his form had filled out a little. He was still lithe and willowy, but he now had some muscle in those arms and he sported washboard abs. So instead of looking so doll-like, and petite, he was handsome now, very handsome.
was wearing a hunter green turtle neck, that hung to his swimmer body, nicely, and comfortably. He was wearing a black pair of slacks and a silver chain around his pale neck. He was simply adorned and yet, he was gorgeous.
"Hello Avari what a pleasant surprise, please come in" he said in his deep British baritone.
smiled and walked into his cozy flat. It was simple yet elegant just like Bakura. Few, furniture, but expensive and tasteful. A few paintings and shelves of books. Books upon books in their cherry wood shelves, waiting to be read. One joy both Bakura and I shaed, we both now had shelves of books. I had become quite enamored in them, as he had when he realized there was such a selection in this new worlds.
"Have you finished Oliver Twist yet Avari?" he asked and I nodded, with a slow grin and handed him the dusty old novel from my messenger bag I carried around.
"And?" he said, taking the book and turning to put it in the immaculate shelf.
"It was great as always, it made me cry a little" I said honestly and I heard him give a rumbly laugh.
"You cry? I think not" he responded, laughing as if the thought of me crying about something so little was absurd.
"I have known many women who would have buckled under the pressure put on you, yet you are here" he added with a thoughtful smile.
"A little worse for the wear" I said, wearing a weak little smile.
