Serenity looked up and smiled at Ryou when he came into the room.

“What’cha got there?” she asked.

“Some silverware” he grinned. “Sorry it took so long.”

“My ‘twin’ (A/N: hehehe) was watching some of the others play a card game.”

Norin noticed this and smiled a little. //Thank you// he said.

/You’re welcome/ Ryou answered.

“Were they dueling?” she asked.

Ryou shook his head. “Regular card game, I think.”

Serenity nodded. “Dueling isn’t all that interesting anyway. I’d prefer reading or playing my flute”

Ryou cocked his head at this. “You play the flute?”

She nodded smiling. “What’s that?” she asked as she watched him take out something.

“It’s my guitar” he answered as he took it out.

“Is it new?” she asked.

Ryou shook his head. “I’ve had it for a couple of years”

Serenity cocked her pretty head at this, while Ryou admired the way her red locks fell over her shoulders. She tried to get up.

“N-n-n-no dear… Don’t get up, what is it?”

Serenity frowned when her stomach grumbled. “I’m kinda hungry.” she giggled a little.

“Oh! Right! Of course, how stupid of me” he said, as he rushed to get her food tray.

“You’re not stupid” she said as he gently tucked her in and put the tray gently on her lap. Those eyes…her eyes held genuine concern for him, and a sadness behind them.

Ryou shook his head. “I’m afraid I am quite an idiot, Serenity…I…I did something I should have never done… and now ten years later… I’m reaping and regretting what I’d sown”

Serenity looked confused. “I-I don’t understand”

Ryou sighed and looked at her. Serenity’s heart ached at seeing the pain and remorse that Ryou felt in his eyes.

“What happened?” she asked. Should I tell her? he thought. He nodded to himself.

Taking a deep breath, he told her all he remembered about the little girl and his family. Serenity listened quietly, only asking questions when she felt he would answer them.

When he was done, Serenity had a tear running down her cheek.

Ryou noticed this. “What’s the matter, love?” he asked.

“It just reminds me of Josie,” she said quietly. “He was in the same predicament.”

Ryou nodded and leaned over, rubbing her cheek with his finger. “Shh, dear, don’t cry”

Serenity started to giggle through her tears. Ryou laughed with her.

“Where did you get that locket?” he asked suddenly.

“Hm? Oh! Josie gave it to me for my birthday when I was 10”

Ryou nodded. /It is her… I can feel it!/

//Wait// Norin said. //Wait a bit longer, just to be sure//

Ryou nodded, and took out his guitar.

They sang and laughed until she fell asleep.

Ryou smiled at her.

Suddenly, he kissed her forehead, and nuzzled her cheek with his nose.

“mmm Ryou” she whispered. Ryou tried his hardest not to giggle.

Picking up the empty plates, he proceeded on to the kitchen.

Leaving them on the counter for the mates, the British teen went on to bed and after saying prayers, fell asleep with a full stomach and good dreams.

It was nearly sunset the next day when they landed. Ryou hadn’t seen Serenity all day.

To say the least, it really bothered him, what with an exasperated Seto Kaiba on board.

It was then that very morning he’d realized he’d left his guitar in Serenity’s room.

/Oh dear! I hope whoever sees it doesn’t get any ideas!/

Norin laughed at his counterpart’s joke.

“Hi Bakura” Yugi called.

Ryou turned around. “Oh! Hello, Yugi”

He hoped his eyes weren’t reflecting the worry he was feeling. “H-have you seen Serenity anywhere?” he asked.

The violet eyed boy smiled mischievously \Hmm I wonder why he’s so worried about her?\

\\Maybe because he likes her?\\ Yami chipped in, smiling.

“No, I haven’t… sorry”

Ryou nodded, somewhat disappointed and very worried.

Just then they both saw a small figure coming up on deck.

Ryou breathed a sigh of relief as he saw Serenity’s small slim frame coming towards him.

“Well now, good evening!”

Serenity looked up at him. “Hi” she whispered.

Ryou’s look of concern returned.

“Serenity, love, are you alright?” she nodded quickly.

“Yeah… I’m fine” Ryou’s instincts came over him and he lifted her chin.

Her eyes were the same innocent, sweet, honey-brown, but they were watery with tears.

Ryou’s heart ached. Then he saw it. Her left eye was purple and swelling.

Yugi looked from Ryou to Serenity. \\duh duh duh DUN\\ Yami grinned.

\Yami! It isn’t funny! Serenity’s hurt!\ Yugi scolded.

\\Yeah, by Kaiba!\\ Yami said. \What? You don’t know that!\

//But what’s if it’s true?// said Norin. //Think about it, all of you mortals were up here while the girl was downstairs, and Kaiba is nowhere to be seen!//

Yami nodded. \\He’s got a point, Yugi\\ Yugi shrugged.

This conversation had completely eluded Ryou’s attention.

He came to one conclusion. “KIABAAAA!” he yelled.

Grabbing Serenity’s hand he raced on the deck, almost bumping into Joey.

“Hey man, watch it!” Joey said. Ryou was too angry and upset to hear him.

“Hey, what’s wrong Ryou? Whatsa matta?” Joey grabbed Ryou by the shoulders, forcing him to let go of Serenity’s hand.

“THIS is what’s wrong!” Ryou yelled in Irish, pointing to Serenity’s eye.

Joey looked at Serenity. “Geez sis! What happened?!”

Serenity started to cry. Joey held her.

Ryou went over to the deck, gripping the edge till his knuckles turned white.

“You really care about her, don’t you?” said a soft voice behind him.

Ryou turned around. It was Tea. “Yes I do” he whispered.

A playful smile graced the girl’s lips. “Do you love her?”

Ryou looked at her, surprised. “N-…”

She had a ‘Don’t you lie to me’ look on her face.

Ryou sighed. “Maybe… as a friend”

Tea raised an eyebrow. “How can that be? You just met her last week.”

Not answering, Ryou shook his head. “How long?” Ryou held his fingers up.

“10 years? Wow that’s a long time.” Ryou nodded. He gave her a look.

She smiled. “Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone” Ryou smiled.

Tea walked away.

//So, you tell her about the girl, but forget to ask her about her family// Norin walked over to him frowning.

/Yes/ Ryou said. /I was just so angry about Serenity that I forgot to say anything./

Norin shrugged. //Did you notice the look of sadness in her eyes every time she looks at you? I think she remembers//

Ryou nodded. /Alright. I’ll ask her… tonight./

Norin nodded and disappeared.
