"Mommy! Wait for me!" The small 6 year old called after her mother.

"Come on, sweetheart. We need to go before daddy gets home." Her mother said, picking the girl up and carrying her to the car.

"How come Mommy? Why not wait for Daddy to get home so we can go on vacation together!" The naive little girl exclaimed, being fastened into her car seat.

"Well... Sweetie... This vacation is just for you and me." The little girls mother didn't want her only child to know that her father had lately been getting more violent around the house. Everyday he would come home wanting more beer, drugs, sex, and it would usually end up in violence. She didn't want her daughter to grow up in that sort of atmosphere. The woman didn't feel it was right.

"Okay Mommy," the little girl sighed.

"Thank you."

They took off out of the apartment complex and sped down the highway at 50 mph. The Mother stopped at one of the lights, "Baby, were going to be staying in a hotel for a little while, Okay?"

"Kay! Mommy, the lights green." she said, pointing out the window.

"Thank you, Baby."

"I love you Mommy" the little girl gave her mother a large toothy grin.

"I love you too" She smiled back.

As the Mother took off down the highway, a boy shouted, and she turned her head to see what was going on. But unfortunately, something terrible happened.

*BAM!*

Another car, obviously occupied by a drunk driver, ran the red light and collided with the driver side of the car, sending it skidding, and tumbling over in circles.

"Police? Yes we have an accident on West and highway 105. Please hurry." One of the witnesses reported in.

"HURRY! The car's about to explode!! Get that woman and her child OUT OF THERE!" A firefighter shouted at his companions. A loud explosion was heard as the car erupted in flames. Ash flew everywhere as the two passengers and the firefighters barely made it out of there in once piece.

The baby was unconscious, but the mother was in a state of shock as her leg was hanging on by threads of skin and blood was pouring everywhere. "P- please, officer" she tried to say as blood slowly seeped out of her mouth, "T-tell my.. my baby and my h-husband tha-that I lo-love them. My baby, p- please, tell her that." She looked up into the paramedic's eyes, begging with her own that she would for fill her last request.

The paramedic turned her head to the side as the mothers eyes went lifeless and her body limp. "Why couldn't you just tell that woman yes?" once of the doctors asked her.

"Because..." the paramedic said slowly, looking over at the child. "Because her husband was in the blue Chevy that was also involved in the accident...He died on impact, and I don't know if her baby will live." The ambulance nurse turned her head and tears slowly ran down her cheeks. No matter how many times she had seen this, the death and blood, the result of drunk driving, it hurt her every time.

"I see... Well the baby will be fine. She was in her car seat, and only has a few bumps and bruises." The doctor said, taking off the plastic gloves.

"Is there any other family member we can take her too? An aunt, uncle?" The Para asked him, going to pick up the child and rocking it gently as she slept.

The doctor shook his head sadly, "I'm sorry. But her file doesn't even give her a name. Apparently at the age of six, her parents hadn't even found her a name." The doctor sighed again, looking over towards the child and his head para nurse on cases such as this. "She'll have to go to an orphanage."

A few months later at the Domino City orphanage, the same little girl, now with a name, sat alone in a corner. The car accident had really taken a toll on the child's social activities. She wasn't deformed, didn't have any speech, hearing, or learning problems. She was just afraid of the other children for her lack of parents. It didn't even occur to her that they were all in the same situation. For all she knew, she was in a day care center where you lived, and every so often people would come and pick up a child.

The blonde haired little girl kept her head down on her knee's, rocking slightly to the kiddy music that was playing next door for the toddlers.

"Hey Seto."

"Yeah Mokouba?"

"Who's that girl over there in the corner?" he asked.

"She's been here for a long time, five months I think, and she's never talk to any one." Seto told his little brother.

"Oh."

"Mokouba."

"Huh?"

"Your spilling your juice." Seto laughed.

"Opps. Sorry big brother, I'll clean it up." the little boy went over and took a rag from the counter as his brother went over to the girl in the corner.

Seto sat down next to her, but she didn't move. He didn't even think she was paying attention to the world around her. "Hi. I'm Seto. What's your name?" he asked her.

The girls head shot up, if nothing, than just the fact that some one was addressing her. She turned her head toward the boy, and looked at him for a minute before answering, "Cerulean.."

Seto smiled, "That's a pretty name."

Cerulan blinked a couple of times, looking over the boy that so boldly decided to talk to her instead of ignore her like everyone else at the orphanage.

"Do you wanna play with me and my brother?" Seto asked, standing up and holding out his hand to help her up.

"I-"

"Alright Kids! Time for a snack!" the lunch lady announced as every one ran over to her. "Cinnamon gram crackers!"

As Cerulan was about to stand up to go and get one, the line had died down and the cook went back into the kitchen, signifying she didn't have any more. So, once again, the food deprived Cerulean sat back into her little corner with her head on her knee's and rocking to the music. And I love cinnamon she thought sadly.

"Here, I got you these," the familiar voice said.

Cerulean peeked out through her hair to see Seto sitting down, holding out two gram crackers. "F-for me?" she asked meekly, a little shocked.

"Uh hun. I stole 2 of them from her for you. Here." And Seto dropped the crackers into her small hand.

She stared at him for a while in awe, nibbling on an end of one of the crackers. Seto smiled at her, assuring her that the crackers weren't poisonous. From that smile, Cerulean got the courage to sit up, and take a real bite, and start laughing .

"What's so funny?" he asked her, totally clueless.

She giggled, "Your nose is covered in cinnamon!"

Seto wiped his nose with his sleeve, as brown specks floated off his nose and onto his shirt. He started laughing too. "Thanks I guess." Seto smiled, taking another bite out of his cracker."

"Welcome!" and her blue eyes shown brightly, for the first time, in what a 6 year-old would know as forever, she had a friend.

Two months later, while Cerulean, Seto, and Mokouba were playing hide-and-go- seek, a man came in looking around for the office.

"The office is that way, Sir." Seto told him, as he was tackled by Ceruelan

"Your it, Seto!" the little girl shouted, going to find a place to hide.

"Awe man."

-~-

"Mokouba! I can't believe it! Were going to be adopted together!" Seto shouted with excitement.

"Yeah! And he seems like a really okay guy! And just 'cause you bean him at chess too!" The little boys eyes gleamed with happiness. This was the first man that would adopted him and his brother-- together. Every one just wanted his big brother cause he was smart and stuff like that. Yeah! But were finally gonna be adopted together!

"Yeah... Great.." Cerulean mumbled, her eyes shinning with unshed tears. Her only friends were going to be taken away from her, and it was like the car accident all over again, but ten times worse.

"Cerulean.." Seto said, walking over to her. "I'm sorry were going... but this is probably the only time that I'll ever get to be adopted with Mokouba... I'm so sorry.." he told her.

"I know... But do you really have to go now...?"

He nodded again.

"I see..." Cerulean sniffed as tears started to come down her face.

"Hey! Don't cry! I'll see you again. I know it!" he smiled down at her.

"You promise?" She asked, sniffing again, looking up at him.

"Yup. I promise that you and me will meet again. Okay?"

"Kay.."

"Seto, You've said your goodbyes, now lets go." His new adopted father said, pulling his head back in the window of the limousine.

"Alright, I'm coming. Bye Cerulean."

It was then that she latched her self onto him, and gave him the biggest hug her small body could muster. "I'll miss you!" she cried into his jacket.

He hugged her back before pulling away, "I'll miss you too." He smiled at her before getting into the car.

As the stretch limo drove away, he waved to her out the window, and she waved back at him for as long as the car was able to be seen.

She stood out there, watching the sun set off in the distance.

"Come on sweetie. Better get you inside before you catch a cold." The lady said, guiding her away.

Cerulean grabbed onto the fence, a lone tear dragging its way down her face. "I'll miss you... Seto Kaiba..." she whispered into the wind.

She slowly walked back into the orphanage, shutting the door on her last wonderful yet saddening childhood memory.
