chapter four

Five past midnight, he had finally let her go.

Crying , she ran out of the house. Tea ran down the

street and turned at the corner . 'why, WHY does he

do this to me?' She thought as she raced down the road.

She was running so fast, she couldn't see around her.

Seto always prefered to walk the long way home after

working late (especially now that his chauffer was fired).

The nights were the only time he could be by himself,

alone with his thoughts. Memories of his parents always

shone through at this time, how they had been happy, how

strong his father was, how warm his mother was. He smiled

to himself, going over the past in his head. 'Those were

the days ' .

He made a right turn , and saw a sight he didn't expect

to see. It was Tea , running as if the hounds of Hades

were after her. Her hands were over her eyes, so she

couldn't see. She was running at the next street.

'Tea ! what's she doing out here past midnight? She's

about to run across the road!' Seto started to run.

'why is she out so late? maybe some trouble at home?

I might be right after all'.

Just then, he saw a Toyota turn the corner.

'I don't know what to do anymore! I just wanna die! If only

I could get away from all of this!' Tea was barely making

sense to herself. Did she really want to die?.

'Yes' she answered. 'I want to be free of all the pain and

the fear'. Taking her hands off her eyes, she saw that she

was on the road, right in front of a speeding brown Toyota.

She faced it, waiting to be free. 'Goodbye, my friends' she

thought tearfully . But a split second before the Van could

hit and destroy her, She was grabbed and moved out of the way.

She and someone else rolled to the footpath. "What are you

playing at Gardner? you trying to kill yourself or something?"

It was (duh) Seto Kaiba! . Tea could hardly believe her ears

so she turned around to look at him. "Yes" she whispered.

"I want to die and not live in this world any longer!".

Seto was surprised. He hadn't expected an actual answer to

the question. Looking down at her lying in his arms, he had a

sudden impulse to stroke her hair. Restraining himself, Seto

asked "Why do you want to kill yourself ? because of those

bruises?".

Tea simply said "It's not just the bruises Kaiba".

Then breaking down, she cried into his chest. "he has done

alot worse". Seto said nothing, just tightened his grip on

her while she spilled out the whole story, right there on the

street. Tea wasn't sure why she was telling Kaiba this, she

only knew it felt right.

After Tea had finished her story, Seto was so mad at Gishiro,

that he wanted to go and pound him into dust.

He kept his cool though , for Tea's sake. "You can't go back

there tonight you know," he said as gently as he could.

"But I don't have anywhere to go."

"Have you ever tried calling the cops?"

"Lots of times, but whenever they came into the house,

my uncle would send me outside and the police would come out

looking like they were stoned. They wouldn't remember me making

the call in the first place"

"What, but that wouldn't be possible unless he hit them over

the head or something"

"Well, they could remember their names and everything, but they

couldn't remember me"

Seto sighed. "Does Valentine know anything of this?"

"She told me to call her if I needed help, I guess I could go

and stay with her for awhile".

"True, but it is almost one in the morning right now, I guess

you could stay with me and Mokuba for now, and then call her

later".

Tea looked at him. "That's really nice of you Kaiba, Thank

you"

"Please, call me Seto".

Tea smiled at him " And you could call me Tea"

He smiled back at her. "Alright then, Tea . Shall we go?" He

stood up and extended his arm towards her.

She took it "Yes please. Hey, did you walk all the way from

work or something? That's quite a distance"

"I fired the chauffer today, He wouldn't stop complaining.

Besides it's nice to walk home sometimes".

"I guess so" And as they walked back across the street,

Tea could feel a new emotion surge through her.

Okay, that's it for now. I gotta start thinking about going

back to school. Just answer me this: do you think I should

tie this into another story, the one in the digimon section.
