Chapter 8: The Nightmare
I opened my eyes; I realized that I wasn't in silky bed and light comforting room. I looked all around me, everything was Egyptian. I looked down, I was on a bed and there was a body lying next to me on my right. I recognized that chestnut hair anywhere. My eyes widened… `What the heck is he doing here?' The man moved next to me, "Are you ok, Tamara?"
"Yes….I think." The words escaped from my lips with out me even thinking, `My name is not Tamara.' I sat up in the bed I was in. The man that I knew as Seto, sat up too. He put his arm around me. I looked at his blue eyes piercing mine. "Seto?"
"What are you talking about? My name is Seth, High Priest Seth to be exact." He smiled at me like I knew him. Well I did, but he looked different. Of course it was midnight and I couldn't see that well, but something about him made chills go up my back. I watched as he moved his left arm away from my shoulder and cupped my chin. I looked him directly in the face. `Oh he is so dreamy.'
"Tamara, is something wrong? You seem to be….well scared in some way?"
"No….I am not scared, I just got the chills that's all."
"Are you sure?" There was concern in the stranger's voice.
"Yes…I am sure." I paused for a minute; his hand was not on my chin anymore but rubbing my back. "No…….. I am not fine. Something is wrong." He kept rubbing.
"Well we are not supposed to fall in love, if that is what you mean. It's forbidden remember? We are only to serve the Pharaoh and only the Pharaoh till the end of our lives. But that will never stop us. Our love will endure anything, even if we have to keep it a secret. A soon to be Priestess and Priest are never to fall in love. It's a law…………. I can't believe this, we have gone over this so many times…but you keep bringing it up. No one will find out, I promise, No one will." He was still rubbing my back. `Love? What is he talking about?'
"Set-h?" I almost called him Seto. "What will happen if we do get caught?" I was trying my best to act as if I have known about this.
"We will be put to the death sentence for breaking the law and the Pharaoh's loyalty." My eyes widened. `No I am too young to die.' "It's alright though, we will be ok, no one knows and as I said, no one will find out." I closed my eyes. `This can't be happening. This is the weirdest dream I have ever had…..it feels so real as if I have been here before.' I was lost in my own thoughts; I didn't realize that Seto/Seth was pulling me close to him. "It will be alright." He pulled me closer to him. I jumped, he wasn't wearing a shirt. I looked down, `Oh thank goodness.' I was wearing a night gown. He turned my face towards his and cupped my chin again. He pulled me into a passionate kiss, that I wished that would never end. I could feel his heat escaping from his body and go into mine, to keep me warm. He pulled away and looked me in the eyes. "Feel better?"
"A little." I moved away from him and laid down in the bed. I pulled the covers closer to my body, trying to keep the heat from escaping. He sat back down and went to sleep. `This is the weirdest dream I have ever had.' I jerked up as a huge bang came from the other side of the door.
I looked over at Seto as he too sat up. My eyes were widened with fear. `What is happening?' "Seth…w-who or w-what
i-is happening?" My voice was shaking as I stuttered. He looked at me with fear in his face.
"I have hoped that this day would never come, but tonight is the last night we will be with each other." He got out of the bed and put on his robe and huge Egyptian cap. He put on his sandals or whatever they were and then grabbed the Millennium rod. I got out of the bed and he past me my clothes, as if I had done this before I quickly got into the royal gown of mine. He walked around the bed and grabbed my hand.
"Seth, I am scared." He started walked towards one of the walls with hieroglyphics on them. He kept walking, like he didn't even hear me. We stopped in front of an old hieroglyphic animal on the wall. He held up the rod and it began to glow. The wall opened revealing a hidden passageway.
"I will love you no matter what happens to me, and you will always be in my heart forever." He looked at me in the eyes as tears started to fill his; tears already streamed down mine. I couldn't cry, only tears came with silence.
"I love you, Seth."
"I love you." He nudged me to go into the dark passageway, so I walked towards it… "Remember to use your bracelets for light." The Millennium Rod began to glow; I was five feet away from the closing wall. It left me in utter darkness. I looked at the wall, with tears falling down my face. I noticed a glow by my waist, as I looked down at my wrists; there were some bracelets that I have never seen before. They were giving me light in the murky corridor. They had the millennium eye on them, just like the rod and puzzle did.
I fell to my knees knowing that they wouldn't let me go anywhere.
"High Priest, if you don't open this door, you will have more charges against you." A voice echoed off the walls of the room and entered the passage I was in. I stayed silent and looked at the wall. `I don't even know the guy and I love him.' A couple more tears flowed down my cheeks. While looking at the wall I noticed that a light was coming in from the room I had been in with Seto. A hole was before me; I looked through the opening and into the other room. Seto was opening the door very tranquil. He stepped back and let four guards into the room. The first one had a sword used for killing. The rest of them bore only a combat sword. `NO…NO!' I screamed in my head; I finally knew why the Pharaoh's guards were here and what Seto meant.
"Seto!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, but no one could hear me. The guards didn't even flinch or look around the room. "Seto or whoever you are, PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!! Stand up to them!" I couldn't help up let the tears drench my clothes. I was standing and banging against the wall, but not even a whisper of the wind could be heard on the other side of the wall.
"Get down on your knees." One of the guards pointed to the ground and Seto what the guard ordered.
"NO!" I banged on the wall as hard as I could.
The one guard that held the murderous sword stepped forward.
~*~*~*~* In the middle of the night: Mokuba's POV
I couldn't help it; I had to go to the bathroom. Usually I didn't have to go, but drinking five cups of soda at dinner really got to me. I got out of the bed and looked over at Seto. He was moving is his sleep, but I didn't want to wake him. Who knows what he can do in his sleep; I probably wake up with a bruise on my eye in the morning.
I walked towards the door; I didn't know there was a bathroom connected to the room at the time, so I decided to go to Tamra's room. `She could tell me where a bathroom was.'
Opening the door silently I saw her in her bed. She was muttering something. `This isn't right.' I walked up to her bedside, "No, Seto please, please don't do it!" Tamra was talking in her sleep.
"Tami? Are you alright?" I poked her. She was trembling really hard; she didn't move at my touch. I nudged her on the shoulder, but she still didn't move. I noticed that her face and cheeks were bright red, and not to mention the tears that were flowing out of her closed eyes. `Something is definitely wrong.'
I ran out the door and into Seto's room. He too was having a bad dream, but I didn't care, Tamra was in trouble; she needed mine and Seto's help. "Seto….Tamra needs you." I poked him, but he did nothing. "Seto….Tamra needs you." I shook him as hard as I could. His eyes gradually opened up. He sat up quickly and wiped the sweat away from his brow.
"What is it Mokuba?" He looked at me with concern, terror and surprise mixed into one expression on his face.
"It's Tamra, she….I don't know how to explain it, she won't wake up." Seto got out of bed and walked towards the door. I followed him at the heels. "She is trembling dreadfully….I think she is having a nightmare…..but no matter how hard I shook her by the shoulder, she wouldn't wake up."
Seto started walking faster towards the door. He opened it quickly and walked into Tamra's room. She was still talking in her sleep.
"Seto!" she was trembling worse than before…
"Do something Seto." He walked over to the bedside and looked down at Tamra's shaking figure and crying face.
~*~*~*~*~*~ Inside dream
"Seto!" I cried from behind the wall. The man was going to kill him with one swing to the heart. I grew with anger and sorrow. Right then my bracelets began to glow and the wall moved to the side. Tears were covering my face, but I didn't keep that from saving Seto. I ran in front of the blade as he swung down on me. I dropped to the ground on my knees. Pain surged through my whole body as my vision was starting to get fuzzy. I looked down at my chest; the sword was slowly departing from my body, I could feel the blade move as it came out. The pain was worse than before. I watched everything go in slow motion before my eyes: The man before me pulled the huge steel blade out and wiped off the blood and sheathed it in one swift movement. The powerful heave made me fall backwards.
I couldn't hear anything; I could barely see anything.
I fell and landed into Seto's powerful and strong arms.
"Why? Why didn't you let them do it to me?" I looked up into a crying face. Seto had me in his lap, while I was gasping for refreshing air.
"Because I love you……..they say love is found on every corner and you were my corner; I am glad I actually stopped at the corner and waited for you." I abruptly stopped and felt the pain grow. I put my hand over the whole of my heart. I didn't want to think of what I was touching. Blood was escaping faster than the fastest river in the world. The pain was slowly easing away as I realized that I was dying. `I guess this is what it feels like to die.' I reached out with my free hand and Seto grabbed it and put it to his face.
"Seto, I love you and that is all that matters. Nothing in the world will change that." I stopped again; I couldn't see his face anymore. It was nothing more than a smudge with the light of the moon reflecting from the window. I was laying in his arms slowly dying, "We will be together sooner than you think, I promise…….Seto. But please promise me t-that you won't f-forget me." I didn't wait for the nod that I couldn't see. All I could see was blackness taking over my eyes.
Seto/Seth's POV
I was holding her as close to me as I could. I clenched her hang to my face. Trying to make the pain go away, she was squeezing my hand. "I l-love y-"
She didn't finish.
Tears rolled down my face as I buried mine into her silky hair. `I will wait as long as it takes for you to finish your sentence.' "No matter how long it takes, I will wait." I looked into her once tan, now porcelain white face. She was ice cold as she lay in my arms. "I love you Tamara and I will wait." I whispered in her ear so only she could hear my promise.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~ In Tamra's room : Seto's POV
I looked down at the trembling girl. I shook her as she mumbled, "Seto, promise me t-that you won't f-forget me," I jumped onto the bed and sat on her legs. With both of my thighs on both of her legs, I stopped them from wavering. I grabbed her shoulders and started to shake her gently. She winced at my shaking; tears starting to fall down her cheeks as she clenched her chest, between her breasts. "Wake up!" I nearly shouted it, but I didn't want to wake up anyone from the other rooms. I started to shake her a little harder, but as Mokuba said, she wouldn't wake up.
"Mokuba, go and get some washcloths to put on her forehead." He ran to one of the doors she had and was surprised that the first door he opened was indeed the bathroom. I started to shake her harder than before. Tamra was trembling so hard I could feel it vibrate through out my whole body. "Tamra, WAKE UP!" I yelled in her ear and shook her more violently. Her eyes shot open and looked into my face with horror. She looked at me on top of her; moving her legs out from under me and up to her chin, she sat in a feeble position.
I moved my body to sitting on the edge of the bed. "Are you ok? I have been trying to wake you for a couple of minutes now."
She looked at me with fear in her eyes and wiped the sweat off her face. She stood up from the bed and fell backwards. I caught her before she hit the bed.
~*~*~*~*~*~ Tamra's POV/readers POV
I could feel Seto crying on my shoulder as I slipped away. "Tamra, WAKE UP!" I could feel him shake me hard. `Tamra? Tamra!' I shot my eyes open and looked into a frighten Seto's face. I looked at him and saw he was sitting on top of me. I moved my legs out from underneath him and sat with my legs at my chest; I nestled my chin on my knees. I was shaking a little from the nightmare I had.
"Are you ok? I have been trying to wake you for a couple of minutes now." I looked at him and wiped the sweat away from my forehead. `What happened? It felt so real?' I stood up from the bed; I wanted a glass of water. I didn't make one step before losing my balance. I fell into strong arms as my eyes started to water from the memory of the detailed dream.
"It's just like the dream." He looked at me with a surprised appearance.
"Tamara, was your name wasn't it?" I looked at him as a tear escaped my grasp and onto my right cheek.
"We had the same dream?" He nodded and removed the tear from my moist face.
"I watched the sword depart your body before Mokuba woke me up."
"The pain felt so real." I looked over at my bathroom door and Mokuba came out of it.
"Here, you are going to need this." He walked over to me and put a washcloth into my hand.
"All I need is a glass of water and I'll be fine." I smiled a weak smile at Mokuba. "Don't worry about me………..shouldn't you be in bed?" I stared at Mokuba.
"Um………well..."
"Go to bed Mokuba, I'll be there in a minute." Seto looked sternly at Mokie. Mokie got the clue and left the room.
"Are you sure you are all right?"
I looked at Seto with a confident smile. "Yes. I'll be fine…. as I said, I just need a glass of water." This time I got up with out falling. I walked towards the door, opened it and stepped out into the hall. Seto was walking behind me, watching my every move.
"Go to bed, I'll be fine." I kept walking down the stairs with out looking behind me.
"I won't go to bed. Not until I know that you are in your bed safe and sound." He walked up behind me and grabbed my waist to keep me from falling off the last step.
"I guess you know my weakness." I slipped out of his grasp and took a step on the ice cold, and white marble floor. He followed me into the kitchen; I turned on the light and walked towards the cupboard. I got out a glass and filled it with sparkling water at the sink. I put ice-cubes in my glass and turned around to sit down at one of the chairs in the room. I saw that a shirtless Kaiba stood before me. I blushed and turned around, "Do you want a glass, cuz I can get one for you." I turned around to face him again.
"No, I'll be fine."
"See I keep telling you the same thing, but do you believe me? Nooooo." I did it in a mocking-like voice.
"Well excuse me for caring."
"Caring? Since when have you cared about anything besides yourself and Mokie?" I looked him square in the eyes, waiting for my answer.
"Since I met you." I was shocked at his answer. To tell you the truth, I wasn't expecting anything. My eyes widened; as I swallowed the gulp of water in my mouth. I stood there dumbfounded; I really didn't know what to say.
"Ever since I met you, I felt something I couldn't understand, but now I know what it is." He walked over to me and took the glass of water out of my hand. He put it on the table next to us. The he turned to me and wrapped his hands around my waist and arms. Looking me in the eyes, he said, "The truth is I love you, Tamra." He kissed me passionately on the lips. I was still stunned at what was happening, but once I felt the warmth of his lips I came back to my senses. I moved my arms up his abs and around his neck. I was enjoying every second of it. `Oh, please don't let this stop.' He pulled his lips away from mine and put his chin on my head. "I love you Tamra, from the very moment I saw you."
I stood standing in his warm and cradling arms. "I love you too Seto."
"Shouldn't you two be in bed?" I looked around at Mokuba smirking in the doorway. I let go of Seto, but he wouldn't give up that easily. He grabbed a hold of my hand and held it.
"Come to think of it, that didn't sound right…" I shook my head. `Dirty thoughts, dirty thoughts…ewww.' I snapped out of it and stared at Mokie by the door. I noticed that Seto was smiling next to me, looking at me out of the corner of his eye.
"Mokie? How long have you been standing there?" I asked, wanting to know the answer right away.
"Long enough to know everything."
"Well, if you know everything, then why don't you leave us alone?"
"Because I couldn't help but like the way my brother is acting, which is nice and not cold." A shock ran through my face.
"Mokie that was rude….Now you are going to pay!!" I let go of Seto's hand and ran towards Mokie, who stood there with a outrageous look on his face. I ran and picked up the boy and out the room. He was in my arms in a cradling way.
"Hey, where are you going with my little brother?" I could here Seto's voice behind me. I ran out into the hallway and slipped on the marble floor. I fell on my back with Mokuba laughing on top of me. Both of us were laughing really hard when Seto came into view and looked into my face as he stood above us. He had a disapproving look on his face; I smiled at him and got up. Mokuba grabbed onto my hand and I pulled him up.
I stopped helping him, when something caught my eye. I looked to my right and saw a clothed man standing in the darkness.
