Chapter 3: Of Snowball fights and Merriment
Dark amethyst eyes lit up with childlike glee as they watched the limo pull into the driveway. A young boy of about eleven or twelve sprinted down the red velvet carpeted staircase and blasted through the front doors. "Big brother!" He called out, joy evident in his voice. "Mokuba…" Seto said in a chiding tone as he climbed out of the limo.
"You shouldn't be running out here barefoot; I don't want you catching a cold." Mokuba trotted up to Seto, effectively latching himself onto Seto's legs and looked up; giving his brother the best puppy eyes he could manage.
"Oh Mokuba…" Seto sighed. "You forgive me, right big brother?" Mokuba said in a sugary tone, puckering out his lower lip a bit. Seto rolled his eyes, he knew his brother's ways…but still, he just couldn't resist those big puppy eyes staring up at him, and Mokuba even pulled out the lip trick.
"Alright, just go back inside now. Someone's coming to visit us today." Mokuba's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Really? Is it someone from your school? Are they in the limo? Who is it? Is it Anzu? Yugi?"
"Mokuba, not so many questions! Just go back inside, you'll meet them soon." He nodded, and hopped back up the steps and back inside the Kaiba mansion.
Seto walked around the limo to open Shizuka's door, and gently nudged her shoulder to wake her. She mumbled, and rolled over, grabbing Seto's hand in her unconscious state, mistaking it for something to cuddle with.
Seto felt his face get warmer. "Shizuka?" He called out in just above a whisper. She murmured something inaudible, and squeezed Seto's hand tighter. Seto groaned, knowing what he had to do. He hooked one arm under her knees while he freed the other one from her grip. He cradled her upper body by putting his other arm around her shoulders. Unaware, Shizuka put her arms around Seto's neck, clasping her hands together.
"You two look lovely, Mr. Kaiba sir." Walter said genially, a smile on his face as Seto, as he had done so many times in the short time he's met her, flushed. Walter continued his banter as they walked into the mansion. "Why, in all my days working for you, I've never seen you look as lively as you do now, sir. Could it have something to do with the pretty little vixen in your arms?"
"Walter, you're pushing it…" Seto warned. Walter let out a hearty laugh. "I'm just teasing you, Mr. Kaiba. All in good fun." He said as he walked away, making sure he didn't aggravate his long-time boss any further.
Seto carried Shizuka into the living room, setting her gently down on one of the velvet cushioned sofas; the one in front of the fireplace. After lighting a crackling fire, he took his trench coat off, set it on the arm of the sofa, and went upstairs to grudgingly work on contracts from America.

Mokuba snuck down the staircase after he saw Seto had retreated to his room. His large orbs alight with boyish mischief, he slinked along the sofa, gripping the top and lifted himself up to get a good look at the sleeping beauty.
His mouth formed a little "o" upon seeing that his brother had brought home a girl. He smirked, setting his feet back down on the floor. Grabbing his brother's white trench coat, he carefully covered her up with it.
Mokuba gave one last look to Shizuka, before fetching his socks, shoes, and a warm coat so he could play outside in the snow.

Shizuka stirred a little at the sound of the door closing, her warm tawny eyes opening slowly. Moving a delicate hand to push fiery brown bangs out of her eyes, she sat up, curiously looking around at her unfamiliar surroundings. The trench coat had fallen to her lap as she moved around, which Shizuka now noticed was there.
"What's this?" She inquired softly, picking it up with both hands. She brought it to her chin, feeling the fabric. "It's Seto's…" It smells like him…Seto smells…nice. She closed her eyes, reveling in the sweet smell.
Her eyes shot open when she realized just what she was doing. I'm, I'm smelling Seto's coat. A glowing blush came over her soft cheeks. Shaking her head, she set the coat down on the crimson colored couch, and stretched her cramped limbs.
Out of the corner of he eyes, she thought she saw a flash of black coming from the sliding glass doors, which were located towards the back of the living room.
Curious, she pulled them open, and followed the sound of a boy's laughter. The "crunch crunch" of her feet on the dry, powdery snow alerted Mokuba that someone was walking towards him. He swung around, and threw a poorly packed snowball towards the intruder. It fell apart even before it got the chance to hit her, only a tiny clump lightly hitting her shoulder.
"Aw, the snow's too fluffy to pack! I can't make a snowball, that's no fun!" He pouted, crossing his arms, looking for the entire world like a replication of Seto, a glower on his boyish features.
Shizuka laughed, amazed how different their features are, but how alike they look. "What? What are you laughing at?" He asked, in a child's griping tone. Shizuka didn't answer, only bent down, and gently packed a clump of snow together to make a snowball.
Her eyes shone with an adolescent's mischief. She reared her arm back, aimed for Mokuba's chest, who immediately saw what was coming and turned to run; getting hit in the back instead. The sound of the snow hitting his jacket could be heard throughout the labyrinth of a garden the Kaiba's owned, as could the grumbling of Mokuba as he tried to wipe his back off.
Shizuka giggled like a young girl, laughing more when Mokuba tried glaring at her. It didn't work, for soon, he too was joining in on the amusement. "My name is Shizuka. I'm supposed to be working on a project with Seto, I guess, but it's too pretty out here to stay cooped up inside." Shizuka exclaimed, twirling on her heel and falling into the white power on her back.
"I'm Mokuba! I'm Seto's younger brother." Mokuba informed, as he plopped down next to his new friend.
"I figured that!" She said, good-naturedly poking Mokuba in his side, prompting the boy, who was very ticklish, to roll away. Shizuka giggled when Mokuba sat up, shaking the snow flakes from his raven mane like a dog.
"Hey, do you think you could teach me how to make a snowball like that, Shizuka?" Shizuka nodded, motioning for Mokuba to come closer. A pair of frosty blue eyes watched from a second story window as the two ran around the garden maze, in an all-out snowball war.

Seto sighed, skimming his icy orbs over the papers. He felt lonely, hearing the delighted laughter coming from his brother and Shizuka, and him, all cooped up in his room. Giving one last discontented look to the stack of papers in front of him, he changed out of his school uniform (which he wore underneath the trench coat). Seto slipped into a pair of black, tight-fitting leather pants, black boots, a dark blue button-up shirt, and gave his hair a quick comb. He grabbed a pair of black gloves for a finishing touch. Giving his reflection a once over in the mirror and deciding he was satisfied, he left the lonely dark room to join the others.
Why do I care what my appearance is around her, anyway?
Seto mulled over as he opened the crystal sliding glass doors. He looked to his left, saw nothing, then looked to his right, and frowned when he saw nothing again. It's quiet…too quiet…
He checked his immediate surroundings, even looked up in the trees. Grinning when he thought he saw some of Mokuba's black hair sticking out from behind a tree, Seto bent down to gather some snow in his gloved hands. He glowered when it was too fluffy and wouldn't pack.
As he straightened up, something chilly and soft hit his neck. He yowled when the clump of snow went down his shirt. Seto pivoted, his eyes narrowing in concentration even as his pale pink lips twitched upwards. Shizuka stood a few feet behind him, her face glowing from the cold, mischief, and good fun, and her arm cocked to throw the second one.
Seto put his fists on his narrow leather-clad hips. She lowered her arm and looked at him from beneath her lashes, trying to look solemn as she waited for the tongue-lashing.
Seto gave her one. "It is completely unfair," he said in his coldest voice, "to engage in a snowball fight when only one combatant can make snowballs." Seto waited, secretly loving the way Shizuka's eyes sparkled. "Well?"
Shizuka burst out laughing, her cheeks rosy and her eyes gleaming. "You're terrible, you know that? I thought for sure you were going to yell at me." Shizuka quickly cocked her arm, pelting Seto with the fluffy white stuff on his chest.
The next few minutes was another all-out snowball war between Seto and Shizuka, neither of them noticing a raven-haired imp watching the whole spectacle in one of the trees, a huge grin on his face.
When it was over, Seto was peppered with clumps of white. He leaned over, resting his hands on his knees. "I leave the field to you, lady." He said mockingly. "As well you should." Shizuka replied tartly.
Seto rolled his eyes as he proceeded back into the mansion. Shizuka started to go inside too, before remembering something. "Mokuba! Oh Mokuba, where are you?" She cupped her hands in front of her mouth, calling for Seto's little brother.
Shizuka trotted along the snow-ridden path, jumping in surprise when a glop of snow hit her head from the air. Wiping the top of her head, she looked up to see Mokuba grinning down at her. He jumped down, tapped her shoulder, and called out one thing before running back to the manor, "You're it!"
Shizuka stood there, her mouth open, before she grinned and ran after the little scamp, leaving more footprints in the snow to tell of hers, Mokuba's, and Seto's adventures that afternoon.

Mmm, well well, look at all that yummy fluffiness! Delicious. Such a cute pairing, ain't it? Much love to * Yamia * for being my first reviewer, and such a kind one as well. Huggles for you!
As I mentioned in my other story, if you review my stories, then you are free to ask me to read yours, and I gladly will. Unless there is character bashing (namely Anzu), or the main pairing is yaoi. Yaoi side-pairings are fine.
