Chapter 2
Yo, The Author here. ^_^ Ph34r, being the idiot she is, forgot to mention that this is a collabfic. x.x Anyway, I'm The Author, but I'm known on Fanfiction.net as Houka-sama. And she also forgot to mention that this is a semi-AU, as it's set before Battle City (but after Duelist Kingdom), but Yuugi and everyone else in the general group know who Yami is. Heh ^^. After this chapter, Ph34r and I will be alternating the chapters we write in twos. In other words, chapters three and four will be written by Ph34r, five and six by me, seven and eight by her, and so on. Okey? Okey. Enjoy!

A week. I've been in this school for a WEEK.
And the teachers are loading me down with schoolwork. Yuugi and Ryou have already kindly offered me help if I need any...and I might just take them up on that.
To tell the truth, I haven't really gotten used to them. My "friends", I mean. Honda seems nice enough, as do Ryou and Yuugi; while Anzu is a bit too bouncy for me already. And I'm not even going to bother with Jou. Sure, he's nice...kind of...but there's just something I don't like about him.
"Hey, Ume!" Yuugi calls. I turn around, only to find him walking towards me while waving, Anzu and Jou at his side, Ryou and Honda tagging along in the back. It's weird, really, how fast people come up with nicknames for you. Two days ago I was "Umeia", now I'm "Ume".
I stop walking and wait for them, though part of me, my antisocial side, wants to keep on walking to my aunt's apartment alone. I fall in beside Jou, but he isn't very talkative towards me, so eventually I lag behind him and walk with the aforementioned Honda and Ryou. So far, they are the most favourable of the group. Honda grins and nods to me, while Ryou greets me with a smile. We talk (rather, they do - I'm not that active in conversations) for a little while. Well, until I glance around me and stop walking, confused.
"Er.." They all glance back at me, then stop as well.
"What's wrong?"
I look around at all of them, slightly nervous as they're staring at me. "Where are we going?"
"Oh! Sorry, Ume...usually we go to Yuugi's on Fridays." Ryou explains.
"Aah." I manage, but before I can open my mouth to say my aunt's expecting me, Anzu is handing me her cell phone.
"Here, you can call your parents and tell them. Er, that's if you want to come, of course."
"Oh..thanks.." Whoops, forgot to tell them I don't live with my parents. I shrug mentally before punching in my aunt's number and putting the phone to my ear. "Uh, hello? Rendi?"
"Excuse me?" comes her voice. I sweatdrop.
"Oh, god. Do I HAVE to?"
"Yes."
"Ergh, fine. AUNT Rendi, is it okay if I go to Yuugi's house?"
I barely finish my sentence when she replies 'yes' quickly. Oh, great. She's prolly gonna go get drunk again.
"Bye." I mutter, then press 'end call' and hand the phone back to Anzu.
"So, can you come?" Yuugi asks, hopefully. I nod. He grins, and we start walking again. Honda looks at me curiously.
I glance up at him. "What?"
"Hm? Oh, nothing. I just didn't know you live with your aunt." I blink.
"Er, yeah. My parents are still in Egypt."
"Egypt?" Yuugi turns around, walking backwards, his eyes wide.
"Uh huh..." I say, wondering what the big deal is.
"You used to live there?"
I nod. "Of course. My dad's japanese, if you were wondering about my last name."
"But Umeia isn't exactly an egyptian name.." I sigh, exasperated.
"Umeia is my middle name. I have my mother's first name, she's the egyptian one."
"So what's your first name?"
"Akila," I cringe.
"Oh." Yuugi mumbles, before exchanging glances with everyone else. I shake my head to ward off the oncoming "why the heck are they doing that?". He turns around, still walking, and strikes up another conversation with Jou and Anzu.
************
Why, hello again.
We're all sitting in Yuugi's living room (which is right above his grandfather's game shop, so I'm kinda freaked out. I hate stairs.), talking about...er, stuff...when someone walks down the stairs leading from what I HOPE is their storage room. Okay, I think, it's probably his grandpa.
But is it? NOOOO. It's someone who looks EXACTLY like Yuugi, only taller and slightly older looking.
"Good afternoon, Yami!" Yuugi chirps. It takes a moment for me to realise that Yami is this guy's name.
"Afternoon, aibou." Yami replies, smiling slightly. Then he turns his attention to the rest of us.
"Good afternoon, Jou, Anzu, Honda, Bakura...and, er..?" He looks kind of confused when his gaze falls on me.
"Umeia," I offer.
"Ah." He smiles at all of us, then walks down the stairs. I blink, looking to Yuugi.
"Was that your brother?" He sweatdrops and shakes his head.
"Dad?"
"No.."
"...cousin?"
"No.."
"Uncle?" I believe I sound desperate right about now.
"Uh..no.."
"Who is he, then?"
"My...um...yami."
...yami? Darkness...that guy was his darkness? What the..? I blink. What to say, what to say?
"Eeghh..?" Wonderful, Yasumi. Sounding like a strangled animal is sure to get answers.
"Nevermind." Yuugi says, quickly.
"Uh...okay?" I blink again.
Silence.
"So."
"So.."
"Soooo..."
My eye begins to twitch.
"Uh..anyone hungry?" Yuugi offers, standing up. Jou stands up as well, and they both enter the kitchen, followed reluctantly by Anzu. Thus, I am left with Honda and Ryou. This seems to be happening a lot lately...it's either Honda and Ryou or Honda and Jou.
I let my head fall to my shoulder, sighing.
Oh, okay. That was a *very* bad move. Why?
Well, probably those tell-tale purplish black clouds that seem to be blocking out my eyesight. In other words, vision time again.
I don't even bother trying to stop it this time. Trust me, I've tried before, and the only thing that happens is a migraine afterwards.
You know, I really hope that I just look like I fell asleep with my eyes open. Otherwise, this would be a very awkward moment for Jou and Honda. And I also hope I'm not drooling. That would be awkward as well.
Agh, need to stop rambling and pay attention.
The clouds clear, and I find myself in front of Domino High. I'm drawn towards where Yuugi and Jou stand. A tall boy walks up, his blue eyes focused on Jou. They begin to talk- no, yell (Sorry, I'm not very good at listening in visions) at each other. Well, Jou is yelling, the other boy's just talking calmly, smirking. Jou takes a step too close, and the other boy sneers and pushes him down.
Everything becomes cloudy again, very slowly, and I begin to get angry. Oooh, wow, Jou got pushed to the ground! Big whoop!
Ah..I can already hear my name being said, and I feel a vague sensation of someone shaking me gently.
"Ume?" The voice sounds worried, and i'm shook again. Yet again, I hear my name, but this time two people are saying it- I suspect that the soft, gentle voice is that of Ryou, and the other is Honda's. My sense of sight fades back in, and I blink, ridding my eyes of the remaining clouds.
Uh oh.
Ryou and Honda are next to me, looking worried.
"You okay, Ume?" Ryou asks, his eyes softening slightly in concern.
"I'm fine." I reply, rubbing my temple. Headache, you know.
Apparently, that doesn't convince Honda.
"You're sure?" Before I can reply, he rests the back of his hand on my forehead, then proceeds to do the same to both of my cheeks (has he not yet realised that we're not even close to the physical contact stage of friendship yet?). He raises an eyebrow.
"You're really cold," he says.
"I'm telling you, I just have a headache. And I'm always cold!" I mumble. "I always get headaches when I...er..."
"Space out?" he suggests, grinning slightly.
"Yeah...space out..whatever." I shake my head, trying to clear the throbbing. He pauses a moment before deciding..
"I still don't believe you."
I snort and stand to sit on the couch, maintaining a safe distance from both of them. Then, without thinking, I ask: "Do you guys know a guy with brown hair and blue eyes that wears a trenchcoat?"
Honda glances at Ryou. "Kaiba, you mean?"
I shrug.
"Stuck up rich guy, about ye tall?" he raises his hand just a bit higher than his head.
I nod, blinking.
"Yes, we know him," Ryou offers, as Honda really wasn't getting to the point. Then he blinks, looking at me oddly. "But he hasn't been at school for a week or two. How would you know him?"
"Yeah," Honda agrees,"and you couldn'tve seen him on the news, cause you didn't know his name.."
Oh, crap.
"Ugh, nevermind how I know him...just...keep Jou away from him for a while, okay?"
"Why?"
"Uh..because...I, uh, said..to?" I hate myself.
"What's gonna happen?"
"How am I supposed to know? It's not like I'm psychic or anything..uh..ehehe?" I glance around nervously for an escape.
"But still-"
"Hey, you guys, Yuugi found chips...want some?" Jou yells from the kitchen. I must resist the urge to cling to him and repeat "My savior, my savior" over and over after I bolt to the kitchen. That would simply make a more awkward moment, I'm guessing.
They all blink as I enter. Surprised that I ran, I suppose. There's a bowl full of chips on the counter, as well as some odd looking dip. They shrug and start to eat, so I join in.
Happily munching on a potato chip, I feel triumphant in the fact that I escaped yet another awkward moment.
...Or not. Here come Ryou and Honda...oh crap.

Well? Like it? Don't? Think it's a flaming piece of misplaced dog doo? Want me to shut up? Review, then. XD;;;
