[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

Hello! Well, here's part three of Never As They Seem! This fic seems to be doing quite well for itself so..... I've decided to devote my time to this. That's right, that means more updates more often! YAY! I used to devote my writing time to my story Falling For The Enemy, but no one seems to like that (not even me.... ^_^'). Maybe it's because it's not yaoi..... Soooo, I'm just going to stop that one. Though, if anyone wants me to keep with that one, just tell me, and I'll try. Anyway, now to thank the reviewers! Woohoo! Thanks for thirteen reviews!

Haibara3: Well, I'm glad you like it! And for the spelling errors... well, no one is perfect, right? (Besides, my spellcheck isn't working... ^_^') I didn't think it was a flame... but thanks for clarifying that for me. About all the jibberish.... it was two in the morning! I was kinda tired.... In fact, I'm always tired. I'm tired right now! Ahem..... I'm happy you like the joke! I try to add at least some comic relief to this. And don't worry, I won't wither away! (unless I die.... o.O) I'll write as long as there are readers to please!

Yami Yue: Well, thanks for the complement. And you'll just have to wait and see if I reveal it. Here's the next chapter for you!

Mooselini McSqueegee: Hey lookie, it's me! Heh heh.... *cough*

Deme (too lazy to log in): Sorry to confuse you. This was ORIGINALLY going to be a one-shot, but I thought "What the hell, why not write more?" So..... I did! Here's another chappie! ^_^

al: Heh heh. I had fun-sized M&M's with me, so I thought "hey, that'd be a great nickname for Yugi!" ^_^ Yes, insomnia sucks. DAMN YOU, INSOMNIA-NESS!

Black Angel Reaper: Eh heh.... I just say what pops into my head. ^_^' Glad you liked it (I liked the shower too! That's why I wrote it.) You'll just have to be patient to find out were Bakura keeps going.

Pyro Pyro: ^___^ Another one of my adoring fans! (Ushi Inu: *cough* Adoring?) ^_^' You're the third one to ask that question.... And the answer is still the same. Wait to find out! Yay! You like my name! *happy dance* Thanks for reviewing!

deaths angel: I'm so happy, my life has been spared. And it's okay if you misspell things... (Mispell? Misspell? @_@) As you can see, I do it myself. Well, thanks for the review!

Md: I just love the name. Short and simple. Anyway, I'm glad you liked it. Here's the update!

Oooh, and here's a special little thanks to Pyro Pyro again for reviewing my one of my other ficcies, The Love Of Thieves. I'm glad you liked it so much. I thank you for taking the time to read it, even though you hate crossover fics. You think they're a good couple? I was just being random when I picked them..... I guess they do have potential! Am I really becoming your favorite author? *teary eyed* Oh, I feel so loved! *cries* I LOVE YOU!!!! Ahem.... sorry.... Don't worry, I won't disappear on you!

Never As They Seem

part three

Bakura awoke that morning to find Ryou directly in front of him. "Gah!" he yelled, jumping slightly. "Ra, Ryou! Don't do that!" Ryou smiled slightly. "Gomen, 'Kura. I didn't mean to wake you." Bakura sat up, running a hand through his slightly messy hair. "Eh, it's okay. It's about time I woke up, anyway." Ryou smiled then stood. "Well, shall I start on breakfast?" he asked. "Sorry Ryou, but I really don't feel like being poisoned this morning." Bakura's smirk was then smothered by a pillow to the face. "Oh, shut up you." Ryou said indignantly. Bakura laughed. "Aw, come on Ryou. I know you can cook." he said, stretching.

Ryou took out the flour, eggs, and milk, and started to make pancake mix. As he was mixing the batter, he felt an arm snaked around his waist and warm breath tickle his neck. "What's for breakfast, koi?" Bakura asked as he placed a feather-light kiss on his hikari's neck. "P-pancakes." Ryou managed to stutter as his yami resumed kissing the tender flesh of his neck. Ryou let out a little mew of pleasure as Bakura began nibbling on his ear. "B-Bakura... I-I can't cook if you keep d-doing this..." Ryou managed to say as his breath quickened. Bakura chuckled. "Of course." he said before taking a seat at the kitchen table, eyeing Ryou hungrily. Ryou was glad that he could now continue his cooking, but a part of him (a large part) wished Bakura had continued with his ministrations. Ryou finished cooking and carried the plate stacked with pancakes to the table, along with a plate of bacon. He sat down across from Bakura and started pouring syrup on his pancakes. He looked up to realize Bakura still had his eyes locked on him. "What?" Ryou asked, becoming concerned by the way his yami was staring at him. Bakura just smiled slightly, his eyes now dancing with amusement at his hikari's cluelessness. "Tell me, what time is it?" he asked. "Ummm..... it's almost ten o'clock.... why?" Ryou answered. "Ah... and what day is it?" Bakura enquired, the amusement quite apparent on his face. "Well, it's Mon- oh crap." Ryou's face fell and he dropped his fork. "I'm late for school!" Bakura laughed as he watched his hikari dash frantically around the house gathering his things. Ryou crammed his books into his bag and threw it over his shoulder, slipped on his shoes, and was about to run out the door when Bakura stopped him. "What Bakura? I'm going to be late!" he exclaimed, frustrated. "Yes, I realize that, but.... aren't you forgetting something?" Bakura said, gesturing at Ryou's attire. "Huh?" Ryou looked down and saw what his yami was talking about. He was still in his night clothes: boxers and one of Bakura's shirts. He blushed a deep red, then with a quiet "excuse me" he hurried down the hall.

After Ryou had dressed and left, Bakura plopped down on the couch and was about to turn on the tv when the phone rang. "Damn.... why can't people just leave me alone?" He reached over to the sidetable and picked up the phone. "City Morgue. You hack 'em, we sack 'em." he said into to phone, smirking slightly. "Very funny, thief." a deep voice said from the other end. Bakura's face darkened. "What the hell do you want?" he asked sharply. "Tsk tsk. Now, is that any way to speak to an old friend?" the voice chuckled. "'Old friend' my ass." Bakura spat. "Oh, always to hot-tempered. I like that about you." the voice then laughed. "Look, just tell me what the fuck you want." Bakura demanded, his patience growing short. "Very well. I've noticed you haven't been coming by lately. That doesn't make me happy." Bakura swallowed. 'Shit.' The voice then continued. "We had an agreement, Bakura. Though, judging by your current absense, I presume you really don't care about the boy.... Prehaps you'd be better off if I just -" "No!" Bakura interrupted. "J-just leave him out of this." The voice laughed a dry, evil laugh. He knew he was in control. "Heh, I knew you'd see it my way. You have quite a bit of lost time to make up, Bakura. I expect it to be delt with." the voice said. "Of course." Bakura sighed in defeat. "Well, I bid thee farewell." Click. Bakura slammed down the receiver. "Bastard." he mumbled before getting yp, grabbing his keys. "You'll pay for this, I swear."

Ryou arrived home to find the house empty and the car gone. 'That's odd....' he thought. ' 'Kura's almost always home around this time.' He sat down at the kitchen table and took out his homework. 'Oh well. He'll be home soon, I bet.'

Ryou had long finished his homework and had even eaten dinner, and was sitting alone, listening to the ominous ticking of the clock he had come to know so well the past few nights. He raised his tired eyes to it. Eleven thirty-seven. He sighed. 'I can't wait up all night. I have school in the morning.' He lifted himself off the couch and headed down the hall, angry thoughts sifting through his sleepy head. ' 'Kura, I can't believe you! I thought you were over this!' he thought as he entered his room and changed out of his school clothes. 'Sometimes I wonder if you really meant it when you said you loved me.' He fell onto his bed, angry tears spilling from his eyes.

***********************************************************

Ryou awoke to the loud, echoing sound of a car door slamming. Then he heard a muffled "Son of a bitch!" as the lock clicked and the front oor swung open. He got out of bed and crept down the hall, tip-toeing as to not make any noise. "Ow.... fuck." Ryou peered around the corner to see a Bakura leaning against the foyer wall, tha back of his head against it. At first glance, Ryou though he looked tired, but when he took a closer look, he noticed that the front of Bakura's shirt was tainted red with blood. Ryou gasped at the sight. Bakura immediately snapped to attention, looking over to see his hikari standing in the hallway, his hand over his mouth and his eyes wide. "Shit.... Ryou..." he said, his voice hoarse and pained. "Oh my God! Are you okay?!" Ryou asked, running up to his yami. "Oh yeah. I'm just PEACHY. There's only a HOLE in my fucking stomach!" Ryou cringed at Bakura's harsh words, but pushed them aside momentarily and helped his dark to the couch. "H-here, sit. I-I'll go call and ambulance." Ryou said, panic clear in his voice. "No! I mean.... no. Don't." Bakura said, grabbing Ryou's wrist. "B-but Bakura, you're bleeding! You... you need help." Ryou exclaimed, tears springing to his eyes. "I-I don't want you to die!" he sobbed, sluching down next to Bakura. "Ryou.... ungh..... I'm not going to die... ow.... I'll be fine." the older boy managed to say, wincing in pain as he inhaled. He looked at Ryou out of the corner of his eye and saw tears streaming down the boys face, his breath coming in hiccups and sobs. He was beginning to hyperventilate in his hysteria. "Urgh..... Ryou, calm down!" Bakura half-yelled, placing a hand on his light's shoulder, shaking him lightly. Ryou turned his wide brown eyes to his yami. "Look..." Bakura continued in a softer tone. "I'm going to be fine." Ryou sniffed. "A-are you sure?" he asked feebly. Bakura smiled, which was actually more of a grimace due to the pain in his abdomen. "Yes... I'm sure. I just.... need a little rest, I suppose." Ryou wiped his face with his sleeve. "Ummm.... 'Kura, wh-what happened?" Bakura turned away. "I'm sorry Ryou, I..... I just can't tell you. Believe me, I want to, but I can't." Ryou sighed. "It has something to do with that place you keep going, doesn't it? I really wish you'd stop, 'Kura. I don't want to lose you!" Bakura pulled Ryou as close as the pain would permit. "Don't worry, Ryou. You won't lose me." he said softly. 'I'd best not. If I do..... I'll never forgive you.'
