Wheeeee! I ish back... again! La la la... I'm kinda hyper... I've had three V8 Splash Smoothies so far... and now I'm working on my fourth! YAY! (which is why some of this may seem like utter bullshit)
*cough* Anyway.... now to thank reviewers!
Black Angel Reaper: Yes, yes, very bad Marik! Heh heh.... actually, I like him too. He's one of my favorite characters. But... I guess I just needed someone who's evil and creepy, sooooo... I chose him! Really?! You like me too much to hit me? That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me! *tear* Eh heh.... anyhooble... Thanks for the review! ^_^
The Almighty Elena: Yes... Bakura would be scary to drive around with... Poor, poor pedestrians...
Deme: ^_^; I was planning on having him get farther with Ryou, but my daddy was being a meanie-head and making me go do yardwork... I had to hurry up with it. Maniac drivers are fun! ^___^ Especially when the driver is a really hot white-haired evil guy.... *cough* A little off track there.... Well, I guess Yami would make sense.... oh well. Hey! Why don't I get chocolate? Eh, foo. Here's the update anyway.
Rowan Girl: Yay, glad you like it! And of course you can use the disclaimer, I really don't mind. Well, thanks for reviewing! ^__^

Never As They Seem
part two
Marik stared at Bakura and the pistol aimed at him, his eyes wide in disbelief. He then composed himself and smirked. "Heh. Fool."
Bakura's eyes narrowed. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"The gun isn't loaded, you imbicile." Marik stated, smirking triumphantly. "You lose."
"We'll just have to see about that." Bakura said also smirking. He pressed the end of the barrel against Marik's forehead. "If it truly is unloaded as you say, you'll be safe. Care to press your luck?" he asked, putting slight pressure on the trigger.
"I told you, it's not loaded." Marik stated again. However, small beads of sweat were forming on his skin.
"Oh really?" Bakura applied another slight pressure to the trigger. "Are you sure?"
"Very." Marik said, taking a slight step back.
"Why are you backing away, Marik? I thought it wasn't loaded?" Bakura asked, grinning., "Surely you aren't afraid of little ol' me."
"Certainly not." Marik scoffed, taking another resolute step back.
"I don't appreciate being lied to." Bakura growled, stepping toward Marik. "Now tell me. Is the gun loaded or not?" He put more pressure on the trigger. "One more pull and the gun will go off. It's your head."
Marik took another step back, but was stopped short by the table behind him. He reached his hand slowly behind him and grabbed hold of what seemed to be the phone. "Surely not..."
"Suit yourself." Bakura pulled the trigger, but at the same moment Marik swung his arm around and smashed the phone into the hand that held the gun, diverting Bakura's aim and sending the bullet flying into the wall just to the left of where Ryou was bound. The pistol clattered to the florr ten feet away from the two.
They looked at each other for a moment, then Marik threw down the ruined phone and made a run for the gun, only to be met by Bakura. He was grabbed around the waist and tackled to the ground, falling back away from the discarded weapon.
"I don't think so, asshole." Bakura said as he pushed himself off the ground. Marik scrambled up after him and took hold of his arm before he could reach the pistol, spinning him around and landing a punch in his stomach.
Bakura hunched over a bit, but quickly retaliated with a hard blow to Marik's nose. Marik stumbled backward and lifted his hand to his nose to stem the slight flow of blood that streamed from it. Bakura came at him for another blow, but he moved to the side and took a swing at Bakura, hitting him in the shoulder and pushing him aside.
Ryou watched all this, his two brown eyes wide with fear and disbelief. He gasped. /Bakura, behind you!/
Bakura quickly spun around just in time to be hit in the cheek. He stumbled back a bit, but caught himself before he fell. A small amount of blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. He licked it clean and stood up straight, preparing for another go. He charged at Marik, crashing headlong into him and sending them both sprawling to the floor. One of their feet kicked out, hitting the gun and sending it flying yet again until it came to a stop at the wall- right at Ryou's feet.
The two brawling men climbed to their feet, both attempting to reach the pistol and end this battle once and for all. Marik quickly spun around and layed a dead punch into Bakura's stomach for the second time, but this ti,me he hit the exact spot where he had stabbed the tomb robber once before. Bakura's mouth opened in a silent scream as he clutched his old wound, doubling over in pain. He kneeled on the floor, trying to catch his breath.
Ryou was horrified. 'No.... 'Kura, get up... please...' /GET UP!/ he cried through their moind link, crystalline tears streaming down his face. Marik stood before him, his eyes crazed and a wicked smile i his face as he stared down at the pistol. He stooped to pick it up, and Ryou panicked. He kicked out at the pistol and sent it flying for the third time, directly at his yami. It slowed to a halt before the kneeling figure.'
Bakura took hold of the gun and got to his feet. He slowly raised the gun, tantalizingly slow, then pulled the trigger.
He would have no memory of the sound the pistol made when it went off. Nor would he ever remember the screams - Marik's, Ryou's. The memory weould forever be in images only:
The spray of blood and bone and brain matter.
The split second of surprise in Marik's eyes before they went blank.
Ryou stared on in abject horror as the blood trickled down the once-white wall. His eyes moved from the red-stained wall to the paleing corpse. He glanced at the now unrecognizable face of Yami Marik, but quickly tore his eyes away as a sudden torrent of nausea hit him. He was barely aware of Bakura's presence nest to him until a warm hand rested on his shoulder. Bakura untied him, and as he stood in front of the taller boy, he broke down into tears, collapsing into the arms of his yami.
***********************************************************
Bakura drove down the now wet streets of Domino City at breakneck speed. Apparently, it had rained during the little ordeal back in the dark, run-down apartment.
He looked to his side to see his soundly sleeping hikari. Ryou had fallen asleep almost immediately from exhaustion. Although he looked rather comfortable, Bakura could see the uneasy expression and could hear the almost inaudible whimper that escaped the younger boy's lips. Bakura knew what he was dreaming about. He knew exactly what he was dreaming about. The same images were still hovering just behind his eyes. Every time he closed them, even if he were just blinking, he would see the pale, bloddy corpse.
"I guess.... this is just one more burden I'll have to live with." Bakura quietly spoke to himself. "But Ryou.... he shouldn't have to suffer like this. He's done nothing to deserve this." Howeverm Bakura could not stop the little voice in the back of his head from having its say.
"He loved you, didn't he?"

Ushi Inu: o.o
Well.... that's the end of that chapter.
Ushi Inu: o.o You.... you killed him.
Technically, Bakura did.
Ushi Inu: YOU KILLED MY MARIK-CHAN!
o.o;;; Umm, gomen?
Ushi Inu: *glares* See if I ever talk to you again. Hmph.
*sighs* Well, anyway, hope you enjoyed it. I'm tired and my neck is killing me. -_- I'm going to get some Icey-Hot then go to sleep. Sleeeeeeeeep.... sounds so good....
