(Author's Notes: Hey, there! DJ Rodriguez here, and I'm going to start another songfic that pairs Yugi up with a lucky fangirl! Who is she? That, you need to check out to find out!

It's beating time with mine

It was a sad day for little Yugi Moto. He was recently, a few weeks ago, dumped by his girlfriend Laura. He remembered the day it happened. {Flashback: Both were sitting on a park bench in Domino City. She had called him over to the park to talk. He went right over, never wanting to disappoint his love.

Then, out of the blue, she said that it was over. "I'm sorry, Yugi. But, I feel I'm not ready for this relationship.", she told him. He felt like his heart did not just break, but shattered. She asked, "But, could we… still be friends?". He really wanted to say no, but he merely nodded his head while not looking at her. His eyes were filled with tears, but he dared not show them to her. It pained him very much to lose her.}

But love, love, love is on the line

But I know you want to run

Now, he saw her with another man walking in the park. His name was John, and he was very handsome and muscular. 'Even though you are not with me anymore, my heart and love will always belong to you.', he thought towards his ex. He walked away quickly, not wanting them to see him.

Laura was trying to enjoy her time with John, but she really couldn't. 'John's really cute and handsome, but he's too stubborn and insistent.', she told herself. Indeed, John really tried to make Laura do whatever he wanted to do. Once, she wanted to try out for the Domino High's cheerleading squad. But, he prevented her from doing so. She really wanted to tear loose and enjoy what she liked to do, just like when she was with Yugi.

Start with nothing, you've got nothing to lose

Now, she felt like letting loose and doing something wild and exciting! "Come on, John! Let's doing something fun, today! Let's go to a dance club!", she suggested. John merely shook his head and answered, "You know we can't do that. I don't like dance clubs.". This was getting to her badly! 'If I was with Yugi, he would take me there! Me and him always had a blast at the dance clubs!', she thought.

That's when it hit her. She missed Yugi. She missed his warm smile, gentle touch, his caring and understanding nature, and his sense of adventure! 'Why couldn't I stay with him!?', she asked herself. The answer hit her; she was afraid of moving into a serious relationship. Now, she was confused on what to do. 'Do I stay with John, or do I go back to Yugi?', she debated. It was a war that raged in her mind, it trying to weigh in all of the pros and cons on either side.

After the walk in the park, Laura walked back home alone. John had important call, and dropped everything. He left her quickly, promising to make it up later. She said that it was okay, but it really wasn't. Once inside, she ran up to her room. Throwing the door wide open, she leaped to her bed and started to cry.

"What can I do?! Who do I go to now?!", she asked herself through broken sobs. Her heart was aching to go back to Yugi, and vice-versa. Back at the Game Shop, Yugi was crying as well. He felt empty and hollow without Laura. He never his love for her, nor his heart. When she hid her feelings and heart from him.

Later that night, Laura decided to go walking. "I know I'll be by myself, but I don't know the difference whenever I'm with John.", she reasoned to herself. Putting on a warm coat, she went outside into the cool, autumn night. She didn't really know on where she was going, but didn't really care.

In a few hours, she reached Domino City Park. She walked towards the center of the park, where a huge fountain was at. "I wonder where Yugi is?", she asked herself. She knew that Yugi was a sweet guy, and assumed that he must have picked up a girl when they broke up. However, she was about fifteen feet from the fountain when she saw Yugi sitting on the rim of it. He was trembling slightly, and Laura saw some tears fall from his face.

Laura covered her mouth, trying to stop the sobbing that tried to come up. She saw Yugi cry, and knew that she was the reason he was crying. "What… have I done?", she asked in a small whisper. Because of building a wall around her heart and emotions, she made Yugi cry. 'No more! I don't want to hurt him like this!', she thought with stoic determination!

She timidly walked up behind Yugi, and slowly, put a hand on his left shoulder. He looked up, and saw into her sky-blue eyes. He quickly got off from the fountain and backed up a few steps. It surprised her, as well as slightly hurt, to see him react like that. "L-Laura!? What are y-you doing here?", he asked while trying to stop his crying. This was it! It was time to break down the walls that sheltered her heart and feelings!

Its time to fight

It's time for tearing free

Oh come, come running straight to me

"Yugi, I want to…", she started to say when something approached the two. She looked behind Yugi to see John coming, and boy was he mad! He grabbed Laura by the arm, demanding on why she was with Yugi. "I leave for a few moments, and you've already hanging out with this wimp?!", he growled. He squeezed her arm hard, and the woman let out a whimper of pain. It was too much for Yugi to take!

He forcefully went over, and pried John's arm off of his ex! He held her behind him, protecting her from the loon. He said sharply, "Don't you ever hurt Laura!". John, as well as Laura, was taken aback by his boldness. He backed himself and Laura away from the man, but then he released his hold on Laura. "Listen, Laura. I know you said we broke up, but I… I still love you. And, I only want for you to be happy.", he told her in a low whisper. He then backed away slowly, putting her exactly in the middle between the two me. "I won't force you into anything. Choose on who you want to be with.", he said.

So, it was decision time for Laura! She looked both at Yugi; with a sad, but warm and genuine smile on his face. Or John; who seemed agitated and also angry. For once, she was going to listen to her heart. 'I should have don this a long time ago!', she chided herself. Taking a deep breath, she turned towards John. She then said, "Sorry, John. But, I'm going to go back to the one who respects and treats me right.".

John's jaw dropped in shock, and Yugi had a hopeful look in his eyes. Laura then turned to Yugi, and smiled for the first time in a long while. She slowly made her way towards him, but was stopped by John. "No you don't, woman! You're not going anywhere!", he growled threatingly. She tried to break free from his grip, but he was too strong. Yugi then came running, flying towards the guy with a strong tackle!

{Chorus}

John was knocked down to the ground, and Yugi quickly got up from the loon and went over to Laura. "You alright?", he whispered soothingly. Laura nodded her head, and both turned back to the angry man. "You gonna pay for this, boy!", he snarled as he prepared to unleash a devastating right hook! Yugi prepared himself to block the punch, but it never came. He soon saw that the guy was knocked out, and standing over him were two really ticked off girls!

"Brittany! Jackie!", Laura shrieked in joy. It was Laura's best friends, ones that Yugi quickly recognized. "Hi, Laura! Good to see that you and Yugi are finally together again.", Brittany commented. Jackie added, "Its about time, though. We were wondering on when you were going to wise up, and leave psycho man over here.". Yugi inquired, "How did you know we were here?". Brittany smirked and answered, "We saw the whole thing behind those bushes there. We thought now was the perfect time to lend a hand.".

The couple thanked the two ladies, and watched them drag the knocked out man away with them. Laura looked into Yugi's eyes, and tears started to form in them. "Yugi, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry that…", she was saying to him, when he cut her off with a hard hug and a soft kiss on the lips. "Shhh, Laura. Its okay. What's done, is done. For now, let's just concentrate on the here and now.", he said soothingly.

Laura cried out tears of joy, and hugged her now-boyfriend tight. 'This is what I wanted… no! What I needed!', she thought. For the first time in a long while, she was warm, safe, happy, content. With Yugi by her side, she could finally be herself! 'I'm not afraid anymore! I'm not afraid now to go into a serious relationship with Yugi!', she realized. After a few moments of hugging, Laura and Yugi left to the park to go see a movie. A broken heart mended, a caged soul was now free, and two lovers reunited!
