Winner Takes All
Yugi laid on the floor, drawing his breath deeply. He had just been beaten by one attack by this immortal monster…now his prized deck was scattered around him, getting carried off by the wind. His dueling disk sat beside him in pieces; it had been destroyed from the attack. Tears stained his face as he started to shiver endlessly, knowing he would never fully recover.
"Not so powerful now, are you, my young Yugi? You were warned of the power of the Egyptian God Cards and yet you still fought. You deserve this suffering," The Rare Hunter smirked at his handy work and took a step forward, "Now give me my prize."
Yugi didn't move. He continued to look straight in front of him, chattering his teeth in pure fear. His eyes were off focus and were filled with tears of pain and sorrow. The Rare Hunter waited, enjoying the sight before him even more. Then he started to wonder if he would be able to take more than the two of them bargained. Much more…
Suddenly there was a flash of light that was exerted from the Millennium Puzzle and a solid Yami appeared between the Rare Hunter and his aibou. Yami's eyes were filled with anger that flamed mercilessly at the Rare Hunter. He turned to his Hikari and watched him, eyes turning to sorrow. He walked closer to Yugi and lifted the golden pyramid from the child's neck. Yami's form shimmered for an instant but he remained in his solid form. He turned back to the winner and glared.
"Happy you won? Are you glad to see such a sweet child so scared, Rare Hunter?" Yami spat out in disgust, "You've broken an innocent soul for your own pleasure. It's disgusting; not even Kaiba would sink this low."
"Yugi was the one who agreed to the duel, not I. It is his own fault; he got himself into this mess," the Rare Hunter sneered back, glaring at his prize. Yami took one last look at his beloved light before he walked closer to the Rare Hunter. He held out the Millennium Puzzle in defeat.
"Here's your prize. If you lay a finger on Yugi, the deal is off. You wanted me, not him. Let's go," Yami snapped sharply as he returned to the puzzle. The Rare Hunter grabbed the puzzle that was floating in midair now that the spirit had disappeared. He smiled.
"Master, I have the Millennium Puzzle!" Even though the Rare Hunter only had to think his words he said them out loud in triumph.
`Good. Now bring that young Yugi child to me. He'll make a wonderful slave,' A dark voice replied within the Hunter's mind, chuckling as he did, `Just make sure that Yami doesn't interfere.'
"Of course, Master…"
`Don't harm the little light, Folken. If there is any struggle at all, just knock him out. I have no intention of hurting the Pharaoh's aibou…yet' There was a sudden click and the voice disappeared, leaving Folken to his thoughts.
"Just so you can't get out…" Folken whispered slowly as he put on the puzzle. Once he got use to the sudden change he retreated to his soul room. He came out of the dark place and confronted another door. He quickly locked the Pharaoh's door after hearing a pair of footsteps inside of the room getting closer. When Yami tried to open his door he figured out what Folken was planning. He started to bang on his soul door recklessly, hoping he wasn't too late.
"Don't you dare touch him!" Yami screamed though the door. Folken only laughed.
"Oh Yami, don't worry! I'm not going to hurt your precious light…" With those words, Folken left the Pharaoh to his yelling and orders. He was now back in the dark alley where he and Yugi dueled, confronting his silent, losing component. The child was still on the ground, falling into a dark misery. Folken walked over to Yugi, grinning like a mad man.
"Time for you to meet the famous Marik, young Yugi; face to face. He will teach you the meaning of your life." Folken carefully picked up Yugi and held him in his arms like a baby. The child gave no protest to the matter; he was still in his own world. Yugi felt completely empty without his Yami inside of him to tell him everything was going to be all right. Now since he had been beaten in a duel, Yami was going to be in the hands of Marik. Then Marik would take Yami's powers. The pharaoh was no longer safe. Yugi's eyes filled with tears suddenly, making him weep in the arms of Folken. It was his entire fault…
"I would save the tears for later, Yugi. Marik isn't going to be a gentle Master as you will soon find out," Folken whispered softly to Yugi as he wiped away a clump of tears off of the boy's face. Realizing what the Rare Hunter was talking about, Yugi started to struggle in Folken's grip. This only made the Rare Hunter laugh cruelly.
"Trying to escape already? Well, it is too late Yugi. Marik has already claimed you for his own. And he was quite right…you will make a fine slave…" With his last words, Folken disappeared in a flash of dark light, holding an even more frightened Yugi.
