Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Nightmare ❯ Friends ( Chapter 1 )
(I realize that, in the Prologue, I forgot something. I DUN'T OWN YGO!!! I may wanna, but I don't. Consider this the disclaimer for every single chapter hence forth, since I can't promise I'll remember to do it again. -_-* So'k, disclaimers are depressing anyway...)

"Oi, Noa!" One of my friends, Jako, shouts from outside the school fence.
It's recess, so I run over to him. "What's up?" I question.
"Where were you yesterday?" Jako asks me calmly.
"My father caught up with me on my way. He kinda dragged me home." I sigh.
"Oh. Well, ya gonna be by today?"
"I dunno. Chichi's taking me to the orphanage."
"Why's that?"
"He's hoping a brother will keep me in the house."
Jako laughs dryly. "You'll bring this new brother by, right?"
"Definitely." I smirk.
"It's cool. I'll tell the others."
"Arigatou." I can't help but smile.
Jako smiles too. "Any time. I'll see ya around, Noa."
"Sayonara, Jako." I tell him softly before he hurries off. ~That Seto boy had better be worth this.~ I grumble to myself as I return to watching my classmates play.
-~*~-
I decide to walk home, instead of taking the bus. The orphanage just happens to be on my way, or, well, it is today.
As I walk past the beginning of the orphanage's fenced in property, I hear Seto's voice. "Why don't you guys try picking on me?" He says.
I frown and peek through a hole in the fence. Seto is standing in front of Mokuba, facing a couple of kids that look about fifteen. "Is widdle Setty finking he can protect his bwover?" One of the boys teased cruelly.
I glare at the boy as he approaches Seto and Mokuba. ~Bastard.~ I hiss.
Seto narrows his eyes at the boy. "Mokuba, leave." He orders his brother.
Mokuba nods and turns to go back to the building, but the other boy grabs him. "Oniisan!!" Mokuba cries.
Seto turns around. "Mokuba! Let him down, yaro!" He ran at the boy who had Mokuba, but the other antagonist grabs him and holds him fast.
"I think these two need a lesson." The one holding Seto suggests. The other smirks and cracks his knuckles.
I push against on of the fence boards in anger, only to find that it is loose. ~Yes!~ I push it out of my way and step into the lawn. "Let them go, you trash." I call, dropping my bag next to my way in.
They all look up. I see Mokuba and Seto's eyes widen in surprise, but the two boys don't look too interested in me. "Go away, kid." The one with Seto warns.
I smirk. "Make me, yaro."
The boy narrows his eyes, and hands Seto over to the other boy, who has no difficulty handling both Yagamis. The boy walks up to me. "I'll have you know that I'm Gredo, the most feared bully in these parts." He warns darkly.
I roll my eyes. "Nice to meet you. I'm Noa, your worst nightmare." I smile thinly, then ram into his abdomen.
Gredo gasps and bows over. "Kusoyaro..." He hisses at me.
"Tell your nakama over there to let them go, or receive more pain." I warn sharply.
Gredo glares at me and takes a swipe at my head. I jump out of the way easily, and he overbalances, falling on his face. "Itai!" He cries, pulling himself to his feet. He gives me one last glare, then turns and heads away. His friend takes the hint and lets Seto and Mokuba go to follow him.
"Konnichi wa, Noa-kun." Seto says as he and Mokuba walk over. I nod a quiet hello and he turns to Mokuba. "Are you hurt?"
"Nai..." Mokuba shakes his head softly.
"Okay..." Seto sighs and hugs Mokuba lightly. He glances back at me. "Arigatou."
I shrug and turn to get my bag. "Whatever. I'll see you two later." Then I walk back through the fence and start to walk down the sidewalk.
"Noa!" Seto calls, his head peeking out from the loose fence board. I glance back at him. "Why don't you stay?"
I sigh. "Can't. Unlike you, I have a father, and he expects me to be home at a certain time." I inform him, then turn and continue on my way. I hear the board swing shut behind me, and smile to myself. ~Don't you worry, Seto-kun. Soon enough, you'll be dealing with the same father.~
-~*~-
Chichi walks in the door and smiles down at me. I'm all ready to go. "Impatient, aren't we?" He chuckles.
I nod happily. ~I won't tell him about those bullies. He might not want Seto-kun if he thinks he's weak or will get in the way.~ I think to myself as Chichi leads the way to the limo. I hop into the back and bounce on the seat.
Chichi chuckles again. "Noa-chan..." He hugs me softly.
I want to cry. Chichi never pays attention to me. ~Maybe Seto-kun and Mokuba-kun are worth this.~ I decide as the limo pulls up.
As we get out, I catch sight of Mokuba, peeking through the fence. He smiles at me and waves, then turns back to the lawn. "Oniisan! Noa-san's back!!" He calls.
Chichi looks down at me as he opens the fence. "A friend of yours?" He inquires.
"He's Seto-kun's ototo." I mumble.
Seto and Mokuba meet us half way to the doors of the orphanage. "Konnichi wa." Seto mumbles, shifting on his feet. I can tell Chichi unnerves him.
"Why don't you stay out here?" Chichi suggests to me. I nod and he leaves us.
"Why're you here?" Seto asks as soon as Chichi is out of sight.
"My father thinks I need a sibling." I shrug.
"Why would he think that?" Mokuba blinks.
"I think he's had it with me leaving the mansion everytime I get bored." I inform the boy.
"You're an only child?" Mokuba looks sad at this prospect.
"Uh, yeah...." I look away from them. Chichi once told me, in a fit of rage, that it was my fault Haha died. That I had killed her when I was born. I know that's not really true, since I couldn't help her death, but it still lays heavily on my shoulders, and I know her death caused me to be an only child.
"Is your father gonna adopt us, then?" Seto inquires suddenly.
I blink at him. "Yeah."
Seto smiles. "That's cool."
"Noa-san's gonna be my brother!!" Mokuba sings happily, doing a little dance around me and Seto. Seto and I laugh.
"Mokuba-chan, you're gonna make yourself dizzy!" Seto warns. Mokuba just giggles and goes around us faster.
A boy, one of the ones who was picking on Seto and Mokuba earlier, walks over to us. I see Seto tense, and Mokuba hides behind him. The boy ignores them and turns to me. "What are you here for, bakayaro?" He growls.
"It's none of your business." I inform him coldly, narrowing my eyes.
"It is my business. This is my turf. You need to get off it."
I puck a blade a grass from beneath my feet and hold it out to him. "I'm off it. You gonna take it back?" I ask innocently.
The boy hisses and throws a punch at me, which I duck. He kicks at me, so I grab his leg and use his momentum to flip him on to his ass. He lands with a `thump', but gets right back up. "You think you're all that because you have a family?" The boy asks angrily, then throws three more semi-wild punches in quick succession.
One of the punches connects with my side, and I let out a hiss and place a hand to the now sore spot. "You're gonna regret that." I warn sharply, then make to punch right, but go left at the last minute. My fist connects with the boy's nose and he goes down, holding the wounded body part. I stand over him, catching my breath and trading glares.
A hand falls on my shoulders. "Where did you learn how to fight?" Chichi booms behind me.
I swallow hard. "A couple friends of mine down town taught me, Chichi..." I reply meekly.
"Humph." Chichi glares down at the fallen boy, who decides his best chance is to run. Chichi turns to Seto and Mokuba. "I assume Noa-chan told you I'm adopting you?" He confirms.
"Hai." Seto nods. Mokuba is still half hiding behind his older brother.
"Get your stuff." Chichi nods to them.
Mokuba smiles and grabs my hand, trying to drag me along. I glance up at Chichi, who nods with a smile. "Don't pull my arm off, Mokuba-kun!" I cry to the boy as I hurry to keep up with his dragging.
"That was awesome!" Mokuba exclaims when we reach his and Seto's beds.
"I had never seen anyone beat Chilo that badly before." Seto agrees. "In fact, I don't think I've ever seen any one try and beat him."
I shuffle my feet. "It wasn't that good." I mumble.
Seto rolls his eyes as he tosses his stuff into a bag. "How can you put up with your father?" He asks, changing the subject.
I blink as I help Mokuba put his stuff into another bag. "I rarely see him. He's always at work, or working in his office. You'll see."
"Where's your mom?" Mokuba asks innocently.
"Dead." I say quickly. "I never knew her."
Mokuba sighs. "I never knew my mom either. She died giving birth to me."
I look at the younger boy in shock, then smile at the irony of it all. "I guess we're in the same boat, then."
Mokuba hugs me quietly. I look up at Seto in surprise. The brunette boy smiles. "Ya know what, Noa? I think he likes you." He said brightly. I can tell he's dying to laugh.
I give him a sour look. "I see you have brains." I grumble.
Seto laughs. "Are we going to have another insulting match?"
"We never got to finish the first one, did we?"
"Don't fight!" Mokuba tugs on my shirt. "Onegai?"
I smile down at him. "We're messing around, Mokuba-kun."
"Mokuba-chan." Mokuba insists.
I sigh. "Right. Mokuba-chan." Mokuba giggles and we go back to packing his and Seto's things.
