Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Not Who They Seem To Be ❯ Part 4 ( Chapter 4 )
A/N - Please note that in this chapter, there are a few point of view changes that I found necessary in order to give more than one side of this fic. It switches between Ryou's and normal points of view as clearly indicated before each switch.
Not Who They Seem To Be, Chapter 4
(No longer Ryou's point of view.)
Yami sighed and leaned back into his boyfriend's strong chest.
"Comfortable, love?" Seto asked. Yami nodded and his eyes drifted shut. "Don't fall asleep on me." Seto chuckled. Yami cuddled up against Seto's chest.
"I can't help it, you're so warm." Yami complained. Seto chuckled again.
"Well you can sleep later. I need to talk to you." Seto said seriously will his deep and commanding voice. Even Yami knew to listen to Seto when he used that voice.
"Oh? What do you need to talk about?" Yami asked. He sat up and turned to face Seto. The two of them were sitting on the floor against Seto's bed in front of the fireplace. The days were getting colder so the fire was lit, giving the room a warm glow and casting long shadows.
"What happened to Yugi? He was avoiding everyone today, especially you. Did something happen?" Seto asked. Seto had become friends with everyone in their group and on occasion was worried about them. Yami stared at him in genuine confusion.
"I...I don't know. I don't know what I did!" Yami cried. He gripped his head as if something was causing him great internal pain.
"Yami?" Seto asked. He cuddled Yami against him and rocked him, trying his best to calm him.
"I think I did something terrible...but I can't remember anything!" Yami cried into Seto's shoulder, his shoulders shaking from his sobbing. He gripped Seto's shirt in his fists as he tried to remember what he did to cause Yugi and Ryou to hate him. The only thing Seto could do was hold him and hope his love remembered soon.
(Ryou's point of view.)
Voices...there were voices above me as I slowly began to wake.
"What's wrong with him, Bakura?" Yugi asked.
"He's been in a lot of pain recently. He's exhausted and his body can't take it. You caused him a lot of pain, you know."
"I...I didn't mean it, I only wanted to help." Yugi said quietly.
"I know. I'm not saying you did it on purpose I'm just stating facts. It doesn't help that he has been very restless recently; it seems he can't escape his memories, even in sleep. That's why he cried out only moments ago." My Yami said. I cried out? That means my Yami knew what I had been dreaming about. I was now awake, but still too tired to fully open my eyes. I noticed, though, that I was in my bed and not on the floor where I had fallen.
"Ryou? Are you alright?" Yugi asked. He must have sensed I was awake. All I did was nod.
"Ryou, drink this." My Yami handed me a glass of water and I drank it gratefully.
"Thank you. I'm better now." I was sitting up now with my eyes open.
"Are you sure? You fell unconscious and hit the floor pretty hard." Yugi pointed out.
"Don't worry, the dream was worse." I said. I tried to smile, but found myself too weak to even do that. My Yami left the room and I whined at his disappearance, but he returned only minutes later with a cup of green tea.
"Here, drink this too, you're still cold from the rain." He said.
"How long was I out?" I asked.
"Only about five minutes." Yugi said. I nodded and sipped the tea, it tasted wonderful. It wasn't too hot or too cold. My Yami made it perfectly with just the right amount of actual tea mixed in with the water. It wasn't like most teas where you would put milk and sugar in it to make it taste better, green tea was meant to be plain. I had tried it the other way before and it disgusted me to no end.
"Is it alright, Ryou?" He asked me. I nodded and continued to drink. I felt bad though, Yugi had come here to be safe and comforted, but so far all that he did was worry about me.
"How are you feeling, Yugi?" I asked. Yugi seemed surprised at the question, for he stared at me a few seconds before smiling and answering.
"I'm a little better now, thank you, Ryou."
"Did you have any tea?" I asked. He shook his head. Before I got a chance to offer him any, my Yami was out of the room once more and down to the kitchen. I smiled to myself. He really was trying hard to make me feel better and at the same time show that he cared. The latter being mostly directed to Yugi, I'm sure. I decided to get up so that I wasn't the centre of everyone's worry. Yugi looked at me questioningly, but I just smiled at him. I noticed that he was beginning to relax a little and become a little more like his old self.
"You know, Yugi," I said. "I think there's a duel on TV right about now. Would you like to watch? I think it might help get our minds off things." I noticed that with my accent, I sounded more polite than I would have thought. I tried not to laugh at the thought.
"I would like that very much, thank you, Ryou." He said. He smiled his genuine Yugi smile and the two of us went down into the living room where our TV was and we turned it on, looking for the match.
"Here you are, Yugi." My Yami said, entering the room. He handed Yugi a cup of tea and sat down away from the two of us. He must still feel uncomfortable.
"Didn't you have tea before I passed out?" I asked my Yami, suddenly remembering him putting down a tray to walk over to me.
"It got cold, so I made some more." He said simply, his attention was on the match. It didn't seem like a very interesting one, the duelists were obviously below our dueling skill. Amateurs at best, but still somewhat entertaining. My Yami seemed interested enough and so did Yugi for that matter. I chose to watch although I soon found myself falling asleep on the couch, next to Yugi.
(Normal point of view.)
Yami lay against Seto's chest, his crying had worn him out causing him to fall asleep on Seto. Seto himself was still awake, stroking Yami's hair while deep in thought. Something had obviously happened between Yami and Yugi, but he couldn't figure out what. It must have been pretty terrible for the normally calm and composed Yami to fall into pieces so suddenly and for Yugi, who was normally so cheerful, to become and emotionless shell. Something wasn't right, and he wanted to know what. He couldn't help but think that perhaps this also had something to do with Ryou and his Yami. Everything seemed to have fallen to pieces the day they took Bakura from Ryou. He knew that they fit in somewhere.
And he was determined to find out how.
A/N - I hope that gives you a little more information on Yami's view and that he isn't really that bad. If you're getting a little confused, don't worry, I'll try to clear things up soon. It's all part of a certain storyline, but don't be afraid to let me know if you have questions.
I was also wondering if you could help me, I'm trying to figure out what Ryou should call his Yami when he speaks. He can't really say 'my yami' to him, so I was wondering if you could give me your opinions. Thanks, please r/r!
