Summary:
~~ And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain ~~
Boy realizes he loves boy, boys lose each other, boys get back together...maybe. Okay not exactly, but kinda the idea.
This song has always been extremely powerful to me, and the video kicks ass! On the other hand, maybe that was just Slash? This was originally intended to be a songfic, but the damn thing turned into a novella.
~~When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same~~
He'd seen it enough times for there to be any doubt now. After all, didn't they say that the eyes were the windows to the soul? If you ever want to know how someone was feeling, the eyes said it all...and all that stupid crap. Somewhere along the way, those clear amber eyes had stopped burning in anger and hate, now showing...what? Want, desire, need even lust? He laughed to himself, 'You haven't looked into my eyes yet pup, but you will.'
Seto waited until after class, watched as everyone else got up and left as soon as the teacher excused them. The blond, who was never very quick, was still getting his things together, after everyone had left. A shadow came over him and he looked up from his books, straight into those damned blue eyes. 'Oh shit," Jou thought to himself, 'what the hell does he want?' He pulled his thoughts together and closed his eyes saying a silent prayer. "Like what ya staring at, Kaiba?" he said, trying to keep himself in check, 'That's it, throw old moneybags a curve ball.' He had to strain to hear the quite reply, "Yeah." He opened his eyes again, glaring at the tall brunet, "What?" The blond blinked, attempting to clear his eyes because they obviously weren't working right. According to them, Seto Kaiba had just smiled at him.
"We need to talk, mutt." Kaiba had finally said something loud enough for him to hear correctly. "Really now?" Jou asked skeptically, "Didn't think we had anything in common enough to discuss." Those damned blue eyes sparkled this time with amusement, "I don't care where, my house, yours, the park...but some place a little less public, because we do have something to talk about." A slight smirk played on Kaiba's face as he continued, "So your choice some place you'd feel comfortable and we can be alone." Jou's head was slightly flustered trying to figure out what Kaiba was on about, he finally answered, "Um, I got plans to meet everyone at the game shop after school..." "Ditch 'em or tell them you'll be late, "Kaiba told him, "this shouldn't take too long." 'Depending on your reaction...'
"Hurry up Jou classes are switching and we have to get to next period," Yugi called back into the class. Jou looked again into the crystal blue eyes and decided, "Fine, I'll be at the park on Main Street by 3."
"Jou," Yugi asked, "What's going on? We're gonna be late to class." "Nothing Yug, sorry about that. Hey I'm going to be late this afternoon...I just remembered something I need to do before I can head over to your place," Jou hated lying to his friend. However, he knew Yugi would want to know why he was meeting Kaiba later and he wasn't entirely sure of that himself. He tried coming up with a reason the rest of the day, why he had agreed, why Kaiba wanted the meeting in the first place, why private. All Jou succeeded in doing was to give himself a headache and quite a few strange looks from his friends who noticed he was even more addled brained than normal.
When the final bell rang, it took everything he had for Jou not to race out the door. He took several deep breaths, trying to stay calm and pace himself so he didn't seem overeager. Taking a quick look at this watch, the blond realized he'd have to run if he intended to make it on time but instead he walked slower. "Hell, he wanted this meeting," he said aloud, "I didn't." 'But I did say I'd be there, damn!' He pick up his speed, walking a little faster. Reaching the park, Jou looked around trying to find Kaiba; he saw him a little ways ahead sitting on a bench waiting for him. "Sorry I'm late," he offered as greeting.
The brunet looked up at him, "No problem, I just got here." He looked uncomfortable to Jou, for some reason seeming out of his element. "What's this about, Kaiba?" Blue eyes closed and a small laugh escaped from Kaiba's mouth as he stood up, "Let's go for a walk." Jou looked at the other boy as if he were crazy, "What?" "I want to go for a walk while we talk, is that okay?" Jou didn't know how to respond to that, it seemed a reasonable request after all, "Sure...just no dog jokes okay?" "I swear," Kaiba started, "that was the farthest thing from my mind." After walking down one the parks winding paths, Jou tried again to get Kaiba to start talking, "Why did we need to talk Kaiba? I still can't figure out what you think we have in common."
"I know you've been watching me at school and outside..." Jou's mind raced, 'Oh shit' "What? How..." Seto felt like smacking himself this was a lot harder than he thought it would be, telling the blond how he felt should have been simple, just come out and say it, but for once he was speechless. Then it came to him, "Jou look into my eyes. Gods, that's corny, but anyway...what do you see there?"
The blond lifted his amber eyes up, looking deeply into the icy blue and realized they weren't so icy. He felt himself falling into them, drowning in the emotions there. Was it possible that the same things he had found himself struggling with were now reflected back at him, radiating from the one in front of him? He lost himself in that moment, going instead on pure instinct, reached over pulling the dark haired boy to him. It still surprised him somewhat when he realized Kaiba wasn't pulling away, but instead came in closer, leaning his head down and brushing their lips together gently. Parting his lips slightly, Jou darted his tongue out caressing the soft flesh it met there. He felt an answered opening, a want drawing on his mouth and lips. They broke off, separating for breath.
"Now do you see why we needed to talk?" Kaiba asked him. "Yeah, I do," the blond answered, "How long have you know?" "About what? You, me, this? Does it really matter?" Jou thought about it then replied, "No guess not. So what are we going to do now?" There was a glimmer in Kaiba's eyes, "I know what I want to do right now, what I've wanted to do for a while." He leered at the blond causing a slight flush to come to both their faces. "Where? When?" Jou asked, knowing they both wanted to follow the same path.
"How soon could you get away from your friends? You're still supposed to met them aren't you? My house, as soon as you can." The blond glanced at this watch while biting hip lip, "Give me 45 minutes...a few minutes there, little bit to say sorry can't stay, the a quick run to your place..." The blue-eyed boy laughed at him, "One hour then, my house." He turned to walk away, and then changed his mind turning back to face Jou. Seto drew him into another kiss, lightly nipping at his bottom lip. When he broke it off, the brunet placed a finger on the lips, "Don't forget...one hour. And Jou? Don't be playing with me." He just shook his head, "Never, on either account." Kaiba turned away leaving Jou to head off on his way.
