Of Those Who Never Leave
Prolog
Bakura had finally found a way to separate from the ring forever, however, he had to find someone to take his stead among the dead. Of course, his first thoughts fell on Ryou by this time. "But, just to double check, and make sure that it won't hurt Ryou at all.", Bakura took the ring out, and said the words slowly.
"Good, it shouldn't hurt at all, I want him dead, but not in pain.", Bakura said to himself.
Seto Kaiba over heard this, and decided to follow Yami Bakura to where Ryou was. As Bakura brought the bright, flickering, ring up to Ryou's back, Seto knew what he was planning. 'Sorry, Ryou, but, this is for your own safety. Forgive me, Mokuba for doing this...', he thought before lunging at Bakura. As the two fought, Kaiba decided to grab right on to the ring itself. "No.", escaped from Bakura's lips.
Then, came a roaring in Seto's ears, and white hot pain, like being buried in lava engulfed his entire being. Seto screamed, but not an ordinary scream, it was an unearthly scream that seemed to ring long after Seto had stopped. All went black, and all Seto could hear was the wind in some nearby chimes....
....
Seto woke to find himself all alone, he noticed it was much later than he had thought it would be, and walked off down the street. On his way, Seto ran into Joey, "Evening, Mutt.", Kaiba greeted.
"I can't believe it.", Joey muttered.
"Believe what?", Kaiba asked.
No response came from Joey, and Kaiba huffed before moving on to his estate. There he found Mokuba sitting among advisors who were talking about some will left to him. Mokuba nodded, as Seto entered the room. "Hello, Mokuba.", Seto said, as usual.
No response, until he overheard the questions being asked. "I'm so sorry he died so suddenly, Mokuba, but, Seto left this all to you, you know.", one said, "You just need a guardian and you'll be fine."
"I want Mr. Motou to be my guardian.", Mokuba responded, "Just, leave all the legal stuff until after Seto's funeral, please.",
Funeral? Was he? Was he really?.... Dead. Seto ran over to Mokuba and tried to be seen by him. "Mokuba, please, it's me, I'm here. I'm not dead, please.... Mokuba....", Seto whispered, his voice growing hoarse.
He didn't know what he did after that, wandered through town, he guessed, before returning, and laying in his bedroom, until dawn. Seto decided to go to school, even if he was really dead, at least school would cheer him up a little. At least he hoped it would, as he got up, and left the estate, Seto felt a tinge of guilt as he left Mokuba alone.
