Of Those Who Never Leave

Chapter 3

Seto was first to wake in the morning, and a little nervously, he decided he'd check out the place outside his own room, quietly he opened up his door, and walked out into a hallway, there were another three doors in it, one, which was partly open, and filled with an assortment of toys, and games, and one that was closed, and made of iron. Seto figured the first was Yugi's, and the second one was Yami's. The third then, must lead to somewhere. Seto decided it was safe to open it up, only to become blinded by a light....

He opened his eyes slowly, feeling blankets over his body. He looked down at the toes peeking out of the end of the blanket, and wiggled them. He slid out of the bed, realizing what this must be, like Yami Yugi he could probably take control of the body too. Seto went to go look inside the mirror on the dresser. He touched the face gingerly, before realizing everything was the same as Yugi, except he was in between Yami's, and Yugi's heights, and still had his icy blue eyes. "Yugi are you awake already? It's only four in the morning.", Seto heard Mr. Moto ask.

"Um... Yeah, I'll go back to sleep um.... Grandpa.", Seto said, a bit nervously, hoping to sound somewhat like Yugi.

"Okay, goodnight, Yugi.", Mr. Moto called out, "Don't forget we're visiting your Mother in Tokyo tomorrow now.",

"I won't.", Seto said.

'Now how to get back to that hallway?', Seto thought.

'Oh, that's simple, shed it like a snake skin.', Yami's voice rang out.

Seto found it odd advice, but pictured himself slithering out of it, and he was back inside the hallway as before, only now facing the soul rooms. "Kinda cool isn't it? You become alive again for a little while.", Yami said, "The body will change to suit the soul, but not extremely. The eyes are the big change, their the window to the soul inside.",

"So that's why my eyes stay the same color.", Seto said, "I was wondering about that.",

"Of course, you can't trick Yugi's Grandpa for long, he already knows about me, it's only a short matter of time before he finds out about you.", Yami shrugged, "Then, he puts you to work, once you can separate from this body, that is.",

"How long will that take?", Seto asked.

"A couple months maybe, unless you find a book that tells you how.", Yami muttered, "I think I lost one of my copies.",

"Good morning Yami, and Seto. Did Grandpa have any reminders for me this morning?", Yugi yawned.

"That you're going to go visit your Mother tomorrow.", Seto said.

"Awww, I don't like going to see her, she fusses too much about me!", Yugi whined, "She always does what most Mom's would do to little kids...",

"Enjoy it while you can, then.", Seto muttered.

"Oh, sorry, Seto I forgot you don't have any parents, do you?", Yugi apologized, "You know what? You could always take my place for the day since it involves my Mom.",

"Nope, Yami told me Mr. Moto would know it's another spirit, and probably try to get me to work for him.", Seto said.

"Oh well!", Yugi said.

"So, is there anything else I can do?", Seto asked.

"You can separate into a ghost form that only Yugi will be able to see.", Yami explained.

"Oh, and take over the body, or create one of my own.", Seto added, before smiling, "Okay, I think I'm getting the hang of all of this.",

"That and now you are connected through the puzzle to both of us, a soul link.", Yugi added, "So, if something were to happen to me, it would happen to you, and vice versa.",

"I see.", Seto answered.

"Don't worry about tomorrow though, after Grandpa drops me off at the train station you can take over if you like.", Yugi smiled up at him.

"Um.... Okay, I..... Guess....", Seto said, nervously.

He had a bad feeling about going through with it though.

End Chapter: Next Chapter, Yugi's Mother is not as wonderful as Seto thinks!
