Passion's a Prison

I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh. This story takes place in Ancient Egypt in the city of Thebes. Yami is pharaoh, and Téanna (Téa) is married to him. They are not however the couple. Not much to say just read it and review please. Many thanks to The Innocence Within for helping me develop the plot. I own that.

Chapter 1- Growing Apart

The day that Yami's mother died struck him hard. His father, the pharaoh, was saddened by his loss. The young prince watched his father slowly fall ill. Finally a few months passed by and the pharaoh passed away leaving Yami all alone. It was a few days later that the slaves prepared the young prince to be crowned pharaoh of Egypt.

At only thirteen years old, being pharaoh wasn't all that was cracked up to be. He had many things to do. Then it was time that he find a wife so he could bear children and carry on the family bloodline. Most of the pharaohs needed to be married to someone from their bloodline. However, Yami did not have siblings only a few close cousins whom were all males.

The only cousin he had that was female was his second cousin and best friend Téanna. He had been friends with her for his whole life. He even thought he loved her but that was a different story with her. She loved him very much ever since she was a child. They would play together and do all their favorite things with each other. It was a spring day in Egypt when it was time that Yami was to marry Téanna. He was only fourteen and she was thirteen.

On that fateful day, they were wed by the high priest. Téanna became Queen of Egypt. She was happy with Yami and she loved him with all her heart. Was that the case with Yami? At first, he was happy with her only he never tried kissing her. He gave her a peck on the cheek once in a while, or a hug every now and then but he was never intimate with her. He should have bore children with her to keep the family bloodline up and to produce heirs to the throne but that never happened.

Téanna figured he was a shy person who never showed his emotions. As the years drew on, she grew further and further apart from him. She was beginning to get even more confused with her feelings for him. Was it love or lust? She didn't know anymore. She was willing to talk to him about everything one day. When she was seventeen and Yami was eighteen, something happened that would forever ruin her marriage and love for Yami.

It was a summer morning and Queen Téanna awoke from a horrible nights sleep. She just had a horrible nightmare about her husband. She dreamt that he left her to die in the desert. She shook her head thinking that was silly. Yami wouldn't leave her for anyone. She threw the idea out of her head and stood up. Pharaoh Yami was sleeping quietly so she decided not to wake him.

She sat down near her mirror as the slaves did her makeup and fixed her garments. She didn't look at all happy with herself or anyone for that matter. A few minutes passed and she went into the palace garden to walk by herself all alone. Feeling bored, she thought about going into the city to do some shopping. She went to Yami a few minutes later asking permission to go into the city. It was unusually strange that he let her go only if Jonah and Theo went with her.

As she went on her way, nothing came across her mind about her husband. She went into the city for a few hours looking around but nothing seemed to catch her interest. She finally arrived home feeling tired. She had been walking a fair distance. She went looking for Yami to tell him all about her day. When she couldn't find him, she started to panic. A few hours later, he arrived in the throne room. He walked over to his wife who had been crying.

"I looked everywhere for you Yami! Where the hell were you!?" she moaned. Yami shrugged and placed a hand on her shoulder. She shook off and stared at him in the eyes. "I don't know who are anymore Yami! I thought we were happy together! What is happening to us huh?!" She collapsed to the floor sobbing.

"Téanna I can explain…," said Yami as he stopped abruptly.

She stood up, cheeks stained from crying. "Explain! Explain!? Explain why you're never at dinner or why you always come to bed late!? I'd love to hear your explanation!"

Yami backed up slowly and aligned his back with the wall. Téanna stormed out after witnessing his putrid silence. The tri-colored pharaoh sulked down to his knees. He was so confused. The crown that is around his forehead slipped off into his shaking hands. His crimson orbs looked up toward the ceiling.

Meanwhile, the queen stomped her way to her room. She immediately plopped onto the bed and cried her brown eyes out. What was happening to her "perfect marriage" with Yami? She didn't know if she is blind or stupid. The more time Yami spent away from Téanna, the more mad and angry she felt at him. By the time she knew it, it was dinnertime. She sat alone. Yami hadn't shone up for dinner. Only cousin Seth and the slaves were her only company. For she finally knew then, she and Yami's marriage was over.
