The sun was shining, bright and hot, on two people who were walking back to the house, as the wind whipped through the strands of grass and a bird cooed softly.

Something was wrong and cold, frozen and dead, yet alive and angry, in that house, but staying outside was not an option. The people knew this, but continued walking.

The shade of the trees flickered and a boy took and tugged at his collar, trying to get more oxygen into his throat. It shouldn't be like this, he was with his father, the man he loved more than life, playing outside for an hour, more time then he usually recieved, but something was wrong.

Then he heard it, a soft crying, and ignored his father's voice as he walked towards the crying. A child with green hair and stony blue eyes was glaring at him, angrily, as huge tears of cerulan fell from them. crouched over like a wounded animal.

"Why are you crying?" the child asked, tugging at his collar some more.

"Why aren't you?" it replied and clutched its knees softly.

"I have no reason to," he replied, feeling odd, just talking to this person.

"You will. Soon you'll have every reason in the world to sob, but you'll have no tears, because you won't be able to cry. That's how frozen you'll be," the green-haired child said.

"No I won't," he protested soundly, "One day I'll create a world where unfortunate children like us will have a place to be free and laugh. I swear on my mother's name."

The green-haired child laughed, much to the irritation of him.

"What's so funny?" he hollered.

He stopped laughing and smiled at the boy, who tugged the collar agian, feeling very uneasy.

"You don't know her name."

The mouth opened to dispute this claim, when he realized he didn't know her name anymore.

"How, how could I have forgotten?" he said, clutching his head, suddenly feeling very betrayed.

"Fool," it hissed, "Nobody lives forever, and those gone are forgotten much sooner."

"I won't forget Mokuba," the child hollered back.

"Really? Even when your busy with work and school? Even when you found someone to love? Even if he's dead?" it chuckled at him.

"I'll make time in life for him, even if it means putting off whoever I like. And I'll never let Mokuba die!" he shouted at the child, feeling very peevish at him.

It shook its head softly and clucked at him, "You lie."

"What do you mean?" he asked it, getting fed up with the child.

"Nothing, although I speak the truth. You'll find out soon enough. Could you do me a favor?" the green-haired child looked up at him with soft eyes, "I'd like a white lotus on my grave. Do you think you could have the heart to do that for me, even after I've bantered you?"

The child tugged at his collar, watching as the green-haired child, stood up and walked away.

"Wait! What's your name?" he asked the child, somehow knowing there must be significance in his request.

"It doesn't matter anymore. You're nothing but an illlusion," he replied and banished it, letting the world go back to inky, soul-sucking blackness before clutching his sides and crying helplessly.
