People Who Care, Care About People.
A Kiss before Dying?
Mysterious POV
I watched as people started to crowd around the unconsicous body laying in the middle of the street. I listened to the horrified screams of anguish that filled the streets of Domino. My eyes narrowed as I picked up a golden pyramid necklace off of the ground and tucked it safely under my cloak. I cried silently. For safe keeping.
And with that I turned on my heel and left my dying brother in the street... ( Pyro: @-@!!!!)
Seto's POV
" OMIGOD!!!!"
" What happened?!"
" Is that kid alive?"
" He was hit by a car!!!"
A scream.
Murmuring.
Another scream.
I ran over to the small figure sprawled out in the middle of the street. I choked back tears as I cradled Yugi's limp body.God, he was light. I feverishly checked for a pulse. I felt relieved as I felt a slow and steady thump against my fingers, even if it was a faint one.
" I'VE CALLED AN AMBULANCE!" a femine voice called. She pushed her way through the crowd and over to Yugi. I bit my lip.
" Thank you.." I heard my voice saying. Or I thought it was my voice...
" No problem. It's the least I can do. By the way, my name's Nami. Nami Shamir." ( I suck at Japanese names.)
I bit my lip harder, and I could have sworn I drew blood that time. " My name's Kaiba. Seto Kaiba."
" Hn. I kinda figured that. Not many rich asses in Domino."
The crowd then parted as the ambulance arrived and to men got out.
My voice trembled, " I don't know how to thank you, Nami."
Nami smiled, " Don't worry about it. Just make sure you tell him how you really feel, kay?" And with that, she disappeared.
The men took Yugi and put him in the back of the ambulance. I climbed in with him. " Hey Mokuba!" I called out to my brother, " Go tell Yugi's friends! I'll make sure he's okay!!!"
Mokuba gave a shuddered nod as he ran out to find them. The drivers shut the doors to the ambulance and drove away.
I stroked Yugi's hand gently. I couldn't help but think about what Nami had said. What did she me about ' how I really felt'? I looked down at Yugi's unconcious body. I licked my bloodied lips. To tell you the truth, I have been having certain feeling about him. How could I resist? He was an angel. I just... couldn't tell him how I really felt. Then I realized I had missed my first chance to tell him that I loved him. But would I get a second?
* Later at the hospital since I'm TOO LAZY!!!!*
" Mr. Kaiba?"
I snapped out of my deep thinking as I looked up at the nurse. I realized that it wasn't her first time speaking.
" Sorry... what is it?"
The nurse bit her lip as she exhaled heavily. My heart sunk more. Please no...
" Well, since you are not family of Mr. Mutou, I shouldn't let you in. But under certain circumtances, you may, sir."
" So that means he's still alive?" I asked hurridly, hopes rising.
" Yes, but barely. He's in Ward 16."
I didn't wait to hear what else she had to say. I ran down the hallway and to ward 16. I hesitated before opening the door slowly.
The room was dark and cold, with the blinds down. I slowly walked toward Yugi's bed. His face was a ghostly white. I sat down and cried softly.
Yugi's eye's then fluttered softly open as he turned his head slowly to face me. " Ka..."
I shushed him. " Don't talk okay? Save your energy. I'll do the talking. You see, you were hit by a..."
" Car...." he said, pain in his voice.
" Yes, that's right." I said, hot tears coming to my eyes. " You were hit by a car."
" Water...." he rasped. I got up and poured him some from the pitcher on his bedside table. I tilted the glass and helped him take a sip.
" You're going to be okay Yugi. You're gonna be alright..." I said soothingly to him, stroking his hand. He shook his head.
" I'm ready..."
" I know you're ready to go, but you gotta get stronger first. Then you can go home," I reassured him, but he just smiled and shook his head again.
" No. You... don't understand..." he said weakly.
" What don't I understand?"
His smile grew as he slowly pointed upward. " Home in heaven..."
My blood ran cold. How could he be saying this? This wasn't the Yugi I had EVER known to be.
" No," I said firmly, " You're going to survive this!" I turned my head so I could wipe my eyes.
" I'm sorry... " his eyes fluttered upwards, " I feel like I'm letting you down..."
" No. Don't you ever say that. You'll never let me down..." I choked on my own words. He... couldn't die...
We were silent for a few minutes. Then I spoke up with tears running down my cheeks. " When you get to heaven, will you tell my mom and dad I said hello?"
Yugi raised up out of his bed slightly with his arms and said clear and plain, " I'll tell them you were one of the most caring people I've ever met." He smiled as he layed his head back, breathing slowly.
" I'm sorry Yugi... I'm so sorry I ignored you before..." I whispered, as his breathing became more heavy, " I love you Yugi, don't go, I love you..." And with that I slowly lowered my head and gave my secret love a light kiss.
" Thanks............" Yugi said, lower than a whisper. And at that, his chest fell with a final breath and his heart moniter went off. I lowered my head onto his bed and cried.
Yami's POV
I sighed as I threw down the dishtowel, finishing the dishes. Ra I could have used Yugi's help right now. I still can't believe how much dishes two people can go through. Even with Yugi's grandfather gone, that's alot. I walked into the living room and turned on the T.V. Something was nagging me in the back of my mind. It didn't take long for me to figure out that it was my aibou's and mine's connection.
Oh Ra!!! Did he take off the puzzle?! What if he's hurt? What if....
My mind screamed as I shoved on my shoes and started unbolting the door. I flung the door open to find a sweat-drenched Mokuba standing on the doorstep.
" Mokuba! Have you seen..."
" COME ON YAMI!!!" Mokuba screamed, dragging me out the door. He ran at full speed, his fingers gripped tightly around my wrist. A left turn, then a right. Left. Left. Right.... where was he taking me? He slowed down, panting as we stopped in front of a building.
" Mokuba, what are we doing at the hospital?"
Tears streaked down the young boy's face.
" Well?" I asked
" I-It's... Yu-Yu-gi......"
