Traveling through the Sand

It was quiet along the desert sand. Maybe a bit too quiet. Amy Mazaki, a young girl who had been traveling since she was little, was not about to give up on her quest for fun and adventure. The sand got into her brown leather sandals. It felt good against her feet. She sighed. Though, after traveling for quiet some time, she felt lonely. Sorrow filled her heart. She sighed. A cool midnight wind swept sand over the desert. Amy looked up.

“Oh, Mighty Ra. Why is my life so terrible? Shall I forever be lonely and be traveling until my grave?” She whined into the night sky. IT was a dark blue filled with bright, pale white stars. The moon was full that night, and a full moon meant good luck for her. Amy sighed once again. She continued walking along the desert, wondering why she was meant to be like this. She yawned. Amy tried to keep conscious but she knew she was weak and tired. She kept walking no matter what.

It wasn't until it was late and she fell on her knees. Amy fluttered her eyes. Her body was limp from walking and she fell over. Her pink hair fell on her face and purple bangs covered her eyes. Her baggy shirt and pants were covered by her dark black cloak. Shivering, she clenched her teeth and tried to keep warm. She closed her eyes. Until she fell soundly asleep.

The next morning, Amy woke up startled. She rubbed her eyes and got up. She wiped away the sand from her clothes and yawned sleepily. Her ruby red eyes sparkled. On her ankles were golden manacles that her father had given her when she was still a baby. She never took them off and never could take them off. They were magical though. Amy had powers far beyond imagine. The manacles kept her from using too much power. Encrypted on them were small hieroglyphics and a magnificent carving of The Eye of Horus.

Amy looked forward. Nothing but sand and more sand, She thought. She shook her head dismayingly. Amy walked ahead. It felt like days rather than hours. She knew that she would die one day, but it wasn't going to be here.

Something appeared in the distance. Amy's eyes widened at the sight. She squinted at the sight and shielded them from the sun's rays. It seemed like it was a palace. She groaned. Amy knew that if there were any guards, they would never let her in. She kept on walking though, knowing that her manacles would keep her safe.

As Amy neared the palace gates, she was surprised to see that there were no guards protecting the kingdom. Surely the pharaoh would take better care of their kingdom?

“Opening the gates would attract too much attention.” She thought. She decided to use magic to leap up and fall into the palace. She did so. No one noticed her. She looked around thoughtfully, admiring her surroundings. There were people going in and out of very few shops. Marketers were selling fruit, jewelry, and clothing. She wanted to buy something, but new she mustn't for she had no money.

Amy put on her hood and walked through the marketplace trying to act normal. Surely they didn't walk differently from the other Egyptians? She laughed. Amy kept walking and noticed a clothing shop and stopped to look at their items. The man keeping watch over his items seemed to be very old. He was wearing peasant clothes and he was sitting on a stool. She peered down, being very careful not to reveal her face. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the old man staring at her.

“Would you like some help?” he asked her. She shook her head and answered with a no, trying to be as polite as she can. Behind her back, she could tell that she did not fit in with the crowd too well. Amy could feel eyes looking at her. She grew hot from all the tension. She turned around saying good bye to the man and walked away. Before she could get any farther, two guards headed in her direction.

“What are you doing here?” one guard asked her.

“It is quite none of your business.” She snapped at the guard who glared at her, an expression that she returned.

“But it's the Pharaoh's business. He noticed you wondering around with his keen eyes. Like a hawk he is. So he ordered us to bring you back to the palace.” The other guard explained to her.

“And if I don't want to come?” Amy asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Then we have no choice but to force you to go.” The guard answered. Amy huffed and walked pass by them, ignoring if she would be disobeying the pharaoh or not. But she didn't even step twice when she was pulled back by the two guards. Her hood fell off and she turned her head to glare at a guard. They were holding her by her arms to she wouldn't escape. She struggled to get free but the guards' grips were too tight.

People gazing at them gaped at them and gasped. Amy grunted in effort to try and get free. But she was deafened by screams. She stopped struggling as everyone, even the guards, looked around to see what was happening. They glanced at the palace gates and gasped as they saw a huge tidal wave heading towards them.

The guards gasped and let Amy go, fleeing to find shelter in the palace. Amy sighed as she sat there, trying to avoid people trying to run away. She rubbed her arms, got up, and headed towards the palace gates. As everyone was panicking, she opened the gates herself by using her magic and stepped outside. The gates closed after her. Outside the palace, she raised a hand and snapped her fingers. The tidal wave disappeared instantly and the screaming was dying from inside the palace doors. She opened the gates again, this time pushing it without magic. Everyone was standing awkwardly in the palace and Amy shrugged.

“What?” she asked sarcastically. She walked by, trying to get to the palace and up the steps to meet the pharaoh. She had a feeling that she would be tracked down by his men sooner or later. Out of the corner of her eye, she notices the pharaoh standing, watching her, on a golden balcony. He had an angry and happy sort of expression on his face. Her long pink hair flowed behind her as she headed towards the pharaoh's thrown inside. She glanced back at the pharaoh, only to see that he had walked inside.
