Chapter 3
Late Night Talks
Seto paid dearly for that night he fell asleep on the couch. Since he didn't finish his office work he was now far behind. He worked sometimes until midnight only coming home to finish any homework he had. The only good thing about this whole mess was that the buy out was almost done. In fact if everything goes smoothly it should be done in the next few days.
It was now Friday evening and he was getting ready for his "date". Seto heard a knock on his bedroom door; he quickly finished buttoning up his shirt and went to go answer it. Mokuba was standing on the other side smiling at him. Seto couldn't help but smile down at him. He was looking forward to tomorrow; he knew that his brother had no idea what he was planning. Nyoko was not happy that she had to meet them at the house instead of riding over with them but Seto didn't want her around his brother.
He had explained to her that if she went with them then Mokuba would suspect something was up, which wasn't far from the truth. He had told his brother that they were going to the beach house so that he could have some peace and quiet to work. Of course the younger Kaiba bought it.
"So you have a "hot" date tonight huh?" Mokuba said very sarcastically.
"Hopefully this is the beginning of the end." Seto said while brushing his hair.
Mokuba put his hands on his hips glaring at his brother. "Do you really think that she is going to let you go that easily, I don't trust her."
Seto gave him a wicked smile. "Oh trust me she will let me go, that is if she doesn't want to get burned."
Mokuba grinned "Oh burn baby burn."
"Mokuba!" Seto scolded him.
"Sorry but I want to be there when you tell her. She has made you so miserable and I want to laugh in her face. She should know by now that you're not interested in her."
"Mokuba I don't think that she has enough brain cells in her head to realize anything at all." Seto said smiling at his spunky brother.
He then looked at his watch. "Well if I don't hurry I am going to be late than I will have to hear about it for the rest of the night."
"What are you doing anyway?" Mokuba asked him as he checked himself over one more time. Seto sighed; the dark circles under his eyes made him look like he had been in a fight and lost, nothing he could do about it right now.
"Dinner, movie than home. We're going out tomorrow remember."
"Of course I remember, I haven't been to the beach in awhile. I am really looking forward to it."
Seto smiled and motioned for his brother to follow him. He turned out the lights and walked downstairs. He grabbed his keys telling Mokuba to behave himself and not to wait up then left.
As he drove to pick up Nyoko he thought about his meeting with Yami last week. It really had been good to see him, even though he knew where he stood with him. He put a hand to his face where he had touched him. He could still feel the hands on his face warm and soft. That little encounter made waking up in the morning whether wet and cold.
As he pulled up to the house he saw Nyoko waiting for him at the door. He looked down at the time and saw that he was fifteen minutes early. She ran to the car before he could open his door and jumped in beside him.
She slid in next to him and gave him a kiss on his cheek. Every time she saw him she thought how luck she was that he was hers. All of her girlfriends were absolutely jealous of her, how could they not be. He's handsome, mysterious, great in bed and absolutely rich. She had been the talk of society now for months and everyone gossiped about the two getting married.
Seto sped off towards the restaurant and said glancing at her. "So you seem to be in a good mood?"
"Of course I am, I have barely heard from you in the last two weeks."
"Well that's my life." He said sighing.
"Well I will make sure when we are married that you won't have to work so hard" She said in a matter of fact voice.
Seto slammed on the breaks in the middle of the road, almost getting hit. He looked at her disbelieving. "Married?"
She giggled, "Oh did I say that out loud. What I meant to say was when you get married someone should make sure you don't work so hard."
"Uh huh," he said taking off again like a rocket ignoring the other drivers who were screaming at him.
He could feel the ever-present headache that he had when she was around coming on in full force. `Just let me make it through the night.'
Dinner was a disaster. They had run in to some friends of hers and she had invited them to sit with them. The girl wasn't to bad, but the guy was just as pathetic and annoying as Nyoko. He tried to suck up to Seto, who made it a point to ignore him the entire dinner. Of course this got her into a tizzy.
"How could you be so rude Seto!" Nyoko said with her arms crossed as Seto's car flew at dangerous speeds down the highway.
"I didn't realize I was being rude." Seto said innocently trying not to laugh.
"Don't lie to me, I know that you were ignoring him on purpose. He was really trying hard to get to know you and all you could do was pretend like he wasn't even there."
"Well it wasn't hard to pretend." He muttered.
"What was that?" She demanded staring at him.
"Well if you had any friends with any amount of interest or intelligence than I would be more than happy to talk to them." He said glaring at her.
"What's the matter they're not childish enough for you and play those stupid card games that you love so much. Why don't you grow up Seto, your living in a child's world pretending to be an adult."
It took all of Seto's will power not to slap her right then and there. "Well then you may not want to come tomorrow if you think it's so childish." He gritted his teeth. "All of the people that have been invited are duelist and if this is your attitude…"
"I will ignore them," She simply stated turning to look out the side window.
"What?" He said gripping the steering wheel tighter.
"If you can ignore my friends who are important people than I can ignore yours who aren't worth my time and effort."
"Then why are you coming?" He brought a hand up to his left temple trying to ease the headache.
"Because I want to spend sometime with you. Is that to much to ask?" She was pouting now.
Seto would have continued but they had pulled up in front of the movie theater. He parked the car got out and went around to open the door for her, but she was already out slamming the door. They walked to the theater in silence.
She picked the movie and he paid, as usual. He groaned, they were seeing some kind of romance film. He had nothing against them, but seeing them with her was not his idea of a good time. Romance movies were meant for snuggling with your date and who wanted to snuggle with a cold fish.
After the movie they walked back in silence to the car. He opened the door for her and she stopped in front of him. She looked up at him with tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry Setty." He tried not to cringe at the horrible nickname. "I lost my temper and I shouldn't have said those things. I don't want to go home with us being mad at each other, forgive me." She pouted and on any other guy they would have melted on the spot, but Seto found it very annoying.
He just sighed though and nodded his head giving her a hug. `Not much longer he thought.'
They drove home with her snuggled up against him listening to the radio. His thoughts wandered to business mostly thinking about a few things that he will need to do tonight. He wanted to get a few extra things done to leave the weekend more opened.
When they got back to her house she tried to get him to come back inside with her. "I can't not tonight Nyoko I have to get up early for the party tomorrow."
She almost made a smart comment but wisely kept her mouth shut. She instead climbed over onto his lap kissing him passionately. She was rubbing her hand on him getting him worked up.
"That's not going to work you know. I still can't come in." He was starting to pant a little.
"I know I just want to make up for tonight."
She kept rubbing him through his pants feeling him become hard. He laid his head back on the seat and let her do what she wanted. If she knew though what he was thinking she would have been furious.
In his mind it wasn't Nyoko but Yami doing this to him. The more the pleasure built the more he moved with her hand. When she unzipped him and pulled him out he didn't see her he saw Yami. And when her mouth closed over him it wasn't her it was his crush doing this. She was very good at it and was sucking him hard now. It wasn't long before he came into her mouth. He bit the inside of his cheek until it was bleeding to keep from yelling Yami's name out.
She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and kissed on the cheek again.
"Meet you at twelve noon at the beach house correct?" She asked thinking everything should be all right between them.
He just nodded not really being able to speak after that, nor really wanting to.
She winked at him and he drove off. He just wanted to go home and sleep now, wanting to forget about tonight. Mokuba was right she was not going to take the break up well when it was time.
When he got home he went to his private office and did a few things until eleven o'clock. He decided to call it a night then and walked back to his room. He changed for bed in a pair of soft pajama bottoms and crawled into bed. He was sitting up in bed leaning on some pillows going through the messages he received when one caught his attention. There was a note from one of the servants stating that someone named Yugi Mutoh called and to call him back at any time.
Seto worried that it might have to with the party and though he hated calling this late he couldn't ignore it.
The phone range about seven times and he almost hung up when he heard a deep sleepy voice on the end.
"Hello"
"Uh hello is Yugi there?"
"He's asleep" the voice snapped. Seto's eyes went wide he knew that voice anywhere.
"Yami?"
Yami was now wide-awake, he remembered Yugi calling Kaiba leaving a message for him to call back anytime. He ran a hand through his hair, he had just dreamt a very unusual dream about the two of them and it left him a little bit confused. He could still feel the hands on his head and he could almost taste….
Yami shook his head to clear it.
"Kaiba?" Yami asked.
"Yes, it's Kaiba. I had a note that Yugi called. Nothing is wrong with tomorrow is it?"
Yami could hear the slight panic in his voice and chuckled. "No nothing is wrong Seto, he just wanted to let you know that we will all be there on time at twelve."
Yami's voice was like silk to his frazzled nerves. He was now glad that he had called even at this late hour.
Yami sensing Seto might want to talk snuggled back down under the covers in bed speaking quietly as not to wake his angel sleeping beside him.
"Oh that's good, I want tomorrow to go perfect. I have neglected him for so long." Yami could hear how Seto's voice was warm and relaxed, he smiled when he realized that he must also be in bed.
"I can tell, you stress to much about things Seto." Yami was enjoying this and he found that odd.
"I can't help it, it's in my nature I guess. You could say I was raised that way."
Yami closed his eyes for a moment. He knew a little of what Seto had gone through as a child and it was no wonder that the boy was barely sane.
"Well you do know that you can talk to friends," Yami said warmly.
Seto thought for a moment before he asked a question quietly. "Are you?"
"Am I what?" He said puzzled.
"Are you my friend?"
" I would like to think so."
"Me too." He said quietly. Seto had no idea where this was coming from but it was nice.
"Shouldn't you be asleep?" Yami asked glancing at the clock beside the bed.
"I could ask you the same question."
Yami chuckled, "I WAS asleep."
"Oh…Do you want me to let you go?" Seto asked closing his eyes.
"Do you want to let me go?" Yami asked quietly.
"Never." Seto's eyes had sprung wide open. He hadn't meant to say that.
Yami was a little stunned not sure how to take that, but decided to let it go for now. "You don't get enough sleep as it. I don't want to keep you up, but if you want to keep talking I will be happy to oblige you."
Seto closed his eyes in relief. "Thank you, I think I would like that."
"Why is that?"
"Because I don't like to sleep."
"Why not?"
Should he open up to Yami like this? "Nightmares." He said while wondering what was he doing.
"Nightmares?" Yami asked surprised.
"Yes almost every night now for about two months I have some sort of bad dream, so when I do find time to sleep I don't sleep well."
Yami chuckled softly, "See I knew you weren't sleeping."
The soft laugh made Seto feel better than he had in a long time. "Like I was going to admit your right," he joked.
"I worry about you Seto" Yami said seriously.
Seto was getting pretty sleepy now so he was a little less cautious at watching what he said. "Why do you worry so much Yami?"
"I thought we already went over this." Yami said.
"So you worry only for my brother?" Seto asked, Yami could hear the sadness in his voice.
"No Seto, I worry for you as well and before you ask me again, I don't know why. Just leave it that I care and be happy."
"You care?"
Yami sighed, he wasn't sure what was going through the other boy's mind but he was glad he was talking to him. Actually he wasn't even sure what was going through his own mind.
"Of course I care Seto, I care a lot."
"I thought you didn't?" Seto said half asleep. He had removed some of the pillows that he had been leaning on and turned out the lights. He was also snuggled down under the blankets warm and cozy.
Yami glared at the phone, "Why would you think that?"
"You said you didn't." He stated as a matter of fact.
"When?"
"When we spoke last Monday."
Yami tried to remember the conversation word for word and couldn't remember ever telling him that he didn't care about him. "When did I say that?"
"Let's see, I am going to quote you word for word. I am distant enough away from you that I can give you an honest opinion and listen unprejudiced"
Yami was stunned that for one Kaiba had quoted him and two that he had misunderstood him. "Seto! That doesn't mean I don't care!
"What do you…?"
"I am sorry that you took it that I didn't care about you and I could see now why you would think that. What I was saying is that literally I am not around you all the time, no one is. I don't see you enough, which isn't by my choice, so I can look at your problems with a fresh thought. I am not experiencing them everyday like you and Mokuba do. You need to let someone else help. It's not good to try to handle things on your own like you have been, your mind is clouding you." Yami was very upset about this.
"Are you sure that's what you meant."
"What do you mean am I sure. You're a smart guy and I would like to think you know me by now." Yami snapped.
It was then that Yami realized what had made Seto so upset with him that night. "Please forgive me if you misunderstood me. I do care about you. I care greatly for all of my friends."
Seto smiled he was happy, even though Yami only thought as him as a friend he still at least cared about him.
"Yami why are women such pain in the asses?"
Yami had to bite back the laughter. Where had that come from. "I don't know, aren't you the expert in that field, I thought about coming to you for help."
"What you not getting along with Anzu that well."
Yami started to tell him to mind his own business but changed his mind. After all it wouldn't be fair to have him open up the he was doing then shut him out of his own life.
"All I can tell you right now is yes, but lets say we talk about it more tomorrow."
"Oh got you…" `Yugi' Seto thought and smiled.
"So tell me what woman has you so frustrated." For some reason Yami did not like the idea of Seto being with anyone else.
"Well I have been dating this one girl…" Seto told him the story of how he met Nyoko and why he was dating her. It felt really good to get this off of his chest.
"What a bitch!" Yami stated before he could stop himself.
Seto chuckled hard, " I couldn't have said it better, but to much is riding on this takeover. I can't afford to mess it up, it could actually be disastrous for Kaiba Corp.:"
"Does she know this?" Yami asked seeing how this would put unneeded stress on Seto.
"She may be ditzy but she isn't stupid. I think she has used this to her advantage."
"You do realize that once this is over with that she will probably do anything to keep you." Yami did not like the sound of this girl at all.
"Now your sounding like Mokuba."
"He's a smart kid, he takes after his big brother."
`Was that a compliment?' They both thought at the same time.
"Do you really think she would pull something because if I don't get her out of my life I am going to kill her Yami." Seto was cuddling with his pillow now smiling.
"Well don't do that I wouldn't want you in jail. If it comes down to it I will call Ryou and we could always sic his Yami on her."
Seto couldn't help but laugh and Yami liked the sound of it. "Yami sometimes you scare me especially when I don't know if your kidding or not."
"Ah but it is a good plan is it not?" Yami said grinning wickedly. He had also rolled over hugging Yugi from behind.
"But wouldn't Ryou feel a little used?" Seto asked.
"Oh I think I could convince Joey to make it up for us." Yami whispered.
"What! No way, Ryou and Joey!!" Seto said sitting straight up.
Yami chuckled, "Shhhhhh no one is supposed to know only me and Yugi."
"How does Yami Bakura handle this?"
"He handles it just fine." Yami said evilly, Seto laughed as he got the hint.
"What about Mai? I thought that her and Joey…"
"You have been away to long Seto."
" What do you mean?"
"Mai and Honda are seeing each other."
"No kidding" Then Seto started chuckling on his own.
"What?"
"It's just I didn't know that you were such a gossiper."
Yami huffed, "I am not gossiping Seto, well except for Ryou's relationship. The rest I am catching you up on what has happened since you've been gone."
"I think you've just been hanging around Anzu to long."
" I couldn't agree with you more." Yami growled out.
"Oh really now you sound like me." Seto snuggled back down laughing.
Seto looked at his bedside clock and gasped. "Yami do you realize we have been talking for three hours. It's two o'clock!"
Yami sighed he had been really enjoying himself talking to Kaiba. "Then I should let you get some desperately needed sleep."
"Yeah I guess, we will talk more tomorrow." Seto said thinking about his plans for tomorrow.
"That sounds fine with me and Seto..."
"Hmmm?"
"Don't keep so much bottled up, call me anytime." Yami was serious.
Seto would have smiled if he weren't almost asleep; instead he just said, "You don't know how much that means to me."
Yami's heart jumped a little. "Sweet dreams Kaiba"
"You too Yami." He said yawning,
Seto fell asleep almost as soon as he hung up the phone. Yami though wasn't so lucky as it seemed someone else wasn't as asleep as he thought he was.
"Have a nice conversation?" A sleepy voice came from beside him.
"Did I wake you Aibou? I am sorry go back to sleep."
Yugi rolled over and laid his head on Yami's chest. "It seems like you guys were really hitting it off. Is he doing any better?"
"I don't know Yugi, I know he will feel better tonight but there is so much going on in his life right now. I don't know if he will ever overcome it."
Yugi smiled slightly. "If anyone can get him through it, you will."
Yami looked down at the head lying on his chest. "And what does that mean?"
"I think you already know."
Yami couldn't help but pull Yugi up to him kissing him deeply. "How did I ever get so lucky in being found by you."
"No I am the lucky one Yami, now lets get some sleep. You can tell me about your conversation in the morning. Oh and one more thing."
"And what is that?"
"Don't deny your feelings for him."
"What do …"
"I heard it in your voice tonight Yami, the only other person you have ever talked like that to is me. I know what you feel for me Yami and I also know what you feel for Seto. Remember you are a part of me and I am you."
Yami hugged his little angel. "Goodnight little light, I have much thinking to do."
"Goodnight love, I will talk to you in the morning." Yugi said falling back to sleep.
