Yami was running in complete darkness. Away from something or to something, he didn't know. It was a dream he'd been having for months, a dream that seemed to have no ending. Around him, his more happier times with Yuugi were playing through his mind before he saw himself, one arm weaved around Anzu's own, the both of them talking and laughing. He stopped running, slowing down to a walk as the small teenager was shown behind them, eyes glaring hatefully at his back. A full picture of the entire group after school, minus Yuugi who was behind them, joking and generally goofing off. Again, those once pure amethyst eyes were scowling, a look of hurt on his face. Yuugi turned and ran away, not noticed by the group at all.
Yami stopped and sank to his knees, the horrible realization of everything washing over him as a cold feeling twisted in his stomach. That guilt piled in his heart began to topple over and fall to the floor of his soul. It was too much, just too much. Boots came into his field of view and he looked up, noticing those cold yellow eyes glancing down, gloved hands on leathered hips.
"Yuugi," he whispered, trying to stand. He couldn't though. Some unseen force was holding him down and he figured it was Yuugi himself. He was kicked harshly in the chest, making him fall onto his back. Yami's ruby eyes blinked up into those golden ones of his aibou who was leaning down above him, body three centimeters away from his own.
"Stay down there, pharaoh," Yuugi's voice hissed venomously, eyes narrowing. "You don't deserve to be any higher than my knees, bakayarou." A delicate tongue poked out and slid over his lips almost sensually, a cruel smile curling before he leaned down and Yami's own lips were captured in a harsh, bruising kiss.........

Yami's eyes shot open wildly, cold sweat running down his body. He sat up slightly under the white sheets and wiped it away from his forehead before looking at the clock. The red neon said 3:40 in the morning. He held his head in his hands, rubbing his temples before feeling a stinging in his eyes. Tears. The Yuugi in his dream was right. He didn't deserve to be in the little one's presence, didn't deserve the connection they still shared. After what had happened over the last year, he didn't deserve to be freed from the puzzle in the first place.
Yami got out of bed, planning on going to the bathroom before splashing some cold water onto his face to wake him up from that tantalizing dream. He passed by Yuugi's room, which had been his own the past six months the prince wasn't there. It was open a little and there was a soft purple-silver glow coming from within. He pushed it open a little more so he could see what was going on.
Yuugi was sitting on the floor in the middle of a hex drawn on the floor, eyes closed and legs crossed Indian-style, gloved hands hanging limply over his knees. The curtains were open, allowing the light of the full moon to shine through, coming in contact with the hex. A cold feeling entered Yami's heart, one of dread. Yuugi's promise of death was still fresh in his mind but seeing the little one there, bathed in the glow of the full moon, it seemed the Yuugi that had been was sitting there, not the prince of death. He turned to go.
Yuugi's cat-like eyes opened, a small but cruel smile curling. That dream the ancient pharaoh was having had been......interesting to say the least. He leant his chin on an upturned palm, using his index finger from his other hand to make the water in the bowl before him ripple, letting the last image of the dream fade away. The moon had a red circle around it, which meant trouble was going to happen [1]. And if Ryou agreed to his proposition, Yami would be at his feet just like his darkness' dream and the moon was going to be right about the trouble he was going to bring to the pharaoh. He got up and walked over, closing the door.
Yami stepped out of the bathroom, rubbing a towel over his face before tossing it back in and closing the door. A glimpse of something caught his eye and he saw a flash of yellow before the door to Yuugi's room closed. Those eyes haunted the back of his mind -- it was as if the prince was reading his every thought all the time.
A voice rang through his head. "Oh, but I am, pharaoh. You can never escape from me. Never."

Ryou sighed as he popped a piece of buttered toast into his mouth, chewing on one end while he went to the fridge to get the milk out. His mind was still contemplating what had happened last night, whether it was a dream or reality. He had woken up at 5:30 on the couch and there was no sign that Yuugi had been there talking to him earlier except for a black rose on the armrest. But the dream had seemed so real, yet it would only be real if he accepted Yuugi's offer. He was cautious -- deals like this often came with consequences. A double-edged sword. The cat-eyed prince probably wanted something from him.
"Maybe," a voice purred from behind him. Ryou spun, nearly dropping the milk as he turned to face the black-sheathed prince. Yuugi smiled at him, once again twirling a black rose in his gloved fingers.
"Wh-what?"
"Maybe I do want something from you in return. But not your soul. I'm not like the devil, my uncle." Yuugi ran a hand through his hair before snapping his fingers. The kitchen disappeared, being replaced with cold, black nothingness. The only other colour was the blue of the lake, which was near their feet. Ryou took a step back, biting down on his piece of toast and swallowing it.
"Where are we?"
"This, Ryou, is the Lake of Truth [2]. It allows you to see the truth behind your lies, the true you and who you will become in the future. I already know the answers, of course, for I already know which path you will take as it is written in your files. But you must see for yourself whether you want to continue living a life of lies or start becoming your true self. All you have to do is look into the water and it will convert your image into that of who you shall become."
Yuugi stepped back, gesturing to the silver-haired boy to look down. Ryou was wondering to himself why he was so afraid of finding out when he heard the other teen's voice in the back of his mind like yesterday. "Because, Ryou, not everyone is eager to see what they shall become. There are very few who are able to visit the Lake of Truth and therefore others continue blindly through like becoming something they aren't. But you I have given the choice. You are not of Ningenkai, you do not belong there. You've always felt you never belonged, am I right? Take a look and see."
Ryou shut his eyes and stepped forward, opening the chocolate orbs before staring down. The water that was his reflection began to ripple and he found himself staring at his demon self from his dream. "That is what you shall become. You shall have no memory of the past as it will be replaced with a false one and people shall have no memory of you." The silver-haired boy had no time to protest as he was engulfed in a blinding light.........
