Ch. 7: Revived and Plans
Their puzzles started to glow after they placed the final piece. “What the-“ Yugi gazed at his puzzles glow. “Spirit?”
At the same time, Kia was dumbstruck when she watched her puzzle glow brighter.
But all of a sudden the bright light turn into a little glowing orb, and, without warning, the light seemed to dash from the kitchen, to the front door, then outside in the hard rain.
Kia ran after grabbing her raincoat and her quick slip-on slippers and ran out the door. Yugi did the same, but ran out with his socks.
“Spirit, wait up!” Yugi called out, never letting his eyes off the golden orb.
Both Yugi and Kia had problems catching up with the orbs in the hard, pounding rain, but they were determined to find out where the orbs were going.
~Lab~
Anzu waited in front of the pods, looking at occupants. Then the crystal she was holding started to glow. She smiled wickedly as she lifted the crystal in the air. “About time.”
~Outside the house~
Two different orbs, one was dark blue and the other was a dark violet, entered the basement and were sucked into the crystal. “Two down, two more to go.” Anzu said, on the brink to become mainiatic.
Also outside, we see Yugi, exhausted, but is still determined to find out what's going on.
At the same time, Kia ran with everything she's got, but wasn't fast enough to catch up with the speeding orb. She started to slow down. `No! I can't stop now! I want to get to the bottom of this!' With that thought, she found a boost of energy that made here catch up with the orb.
The two orbs went through a small window that seems to be attached to the basement. That's when Yugi and Kia meet face to face. Both exhausted, but were able to get though the window and found a nearly opened door. They went over and watched the scene that was taking place.
“What's going on?” Kia whispered as she looked at the green pods that seemed to have something inside them.
“I'm not sure.” Yugi said as he narrowed his eyes. “But I'm going to find out.” He was about to walk out until he notice that they were not alone and quickly ducked back.
They saw a girl holding the glowing crystal and walked over to what seems like a control panel.
“After so long,” Anzu said, “I'll finally have the secret to the pharaoh's power and control all of mankind to serve me.” (A/N: So that's her plan. Oh she's going to die… soon!)
As they heard this, they looked at each other, thinking the same thing. `What does this crazy girl mean by the pharaoh's power?' Then continued to look at the scene that was unfolding.
“Alright.” Anzu said. “Let's see if I get this right.” She placed the crystal on to the center of the panel, which creating a blinding light.
A few moments later, the light disappeared and the monitors above the pods to create a sound that signaled that the occupants were, after 5,000 years, alive, again.
“Yes! It worked!” Anzu said overjoyed, until a yawn escaped her. “Whoa. All that excitement must have brought a lot out of me.” She said as she looked over to the pods. “We'll continue this tomorrow.” She looked over at one pod, which held the Pharaoh, and showed hunger in her eyes. Then she turned around and left the room.
The two eavesdroppers came out of their hiding place and investigate the creepy, yet bizarre surrounding.
“It's obvious it's a lab.” Kia said. “But the question is, what kind?” She walked over to one of the pods and froze on the spot.
“I don't know.” Yugi said as he looked at the machines. “But, judging by all this, it looks like an illegal lab or something.'
“Y-Yugi, you m-might want to see this.” Kia said in shaky and shocked tone.
Yugi tilted his head back and walked over to where she's standing. “What is-“ Yugi was about to say until he looked to where Kia was staring at.
Both of them were dumbstruck at the site of, themselves, or what looked like themselves, in those pods, in either a loincloth skirt-thing or some kind of dress.
“I think this lab is using forbidden works.” Kia said as she stared at what looks like herself, but a bit taller.
“What do you mean?” Yugi asked
“This might sound crazy, but I read a fictional book once and it had a moral about that magic and technology will bring chaos to the world, if used for selfish reasons.”
Yugi stared at her for one moment and returned his attention towards his look-alike. He examined and noticed that the hairstyle is the same though the other has golden rod strains going up with his ebony with red highlight hair and that the bangs are lightening shaped, and he also noticed the obvious tan skin tone. He looked at the other's face and couldn't help to think that the other's expression seemed… sad. Without knowing, he walked up one or two steps towards the pod and placed his hand on the glass. “Spirit?”
Then someone crept from the shadows, almost giving both of them a heart attack.
“ What the hell are you doing in here?” Alysia said.
“Uhh well, umm…” Kia was about to say something, but Yugi cut in.
“Well, here's the thing…” Yugi told the whole story to Alysia, about how they got to the lab. After that they waited for her reaction.
“So that's your story then.” Alysia said, which made both of them nod. “So. What's your next move?”
The two teens were confused by this statement and wondered what she meant.
Alysia sighed. “You're here right? Are you going to do something?”
The two looked at their doubles, then at each other, hoping that one of them have some sort of plan in mind.
“What's your name?” Kia asked towards Alysia.
“Alysia.” She replied. “And you two?”
“My name is Kia.” She replied.
“And I'm Yugi.” He said. “It's nice to meet you Alysia.”
“Back at cha'” Alysia said. “So, what were you two thinking?”
“Do you have a camera?” Kia asked, making the two look at her as if she was crazy.
Alysia diged into her pockets and held out a cell phone. “Does a camera phone work?”
“That's perfect.” Kia said as Alysia handed the cell to her. She then positions the phone in front of her double and took a picture.
As she was doing that, Yugi looked over to Alysia. “Do you why they look like us?”
Alysia looked at him and sighed. “Looks like you have the right to know. Well, first off, they're real people, not your clones, who lived in Ancient Egypt.”
“YUGI! There are two others who look like Ryou and Malik!” Kia called out.
The two went over to where she was and what do you know, she wasn't kidding. But there were a few differences; for one thing, Ryou doesn't have a scar on the right side and tan skin. Also, Malik's hair doesn't stand upward; the rest is mostly the same.
“Alysia,” Kia started to say, “if they're not clones of us, then who are they?”
Alysia rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Do you have to ask the obvious?”
Kia shut her mouth and she and Yugi listen with great interest.
“Well first off,” Alysia said pointing to what looked like Ryou. “That guy right there is known as Bakura, he was known to be the king of thieves. But then he became the Pharaoh's body guard when he lost in a game to him.” When she saw Yugi's mouth open to a question. “As I was saying.” Which made Yugi listen. “Next we have Marik,” She said as she pointed out to what looked like Malik, “he was Bakura's partner in crime. He became the head on an army force. After he and Bakura worked in the palace as servants for the Pharaoh.” She paused for a moment to catch her breath then continued. “The one that looks like you, Kia, is named Kayra, and she works as an historian for the Egyptians, making sure that no record is left unnoticed. But there were occasions that people think of her and the Pharaoh as a couple; she made it clear that it's not true.” Alysia looked over at Kia, who was looking a Kayra in awe. “And lastly, the one that looks like you Yugi.” She said with a smile. “To be honest I don't know his name, but I do know, he's the great Pharaoh.” She finished.
Yugi walked towards the Pharaoh's pod and thought deeply for a while, until his eyes lit up with an idea. “You still got those pictures in Alysia's cell?” He asked.
“Thinking of operation: get our look-alikes out of a mad scientist's lab?” Kia said as she waved the cell. “Mind if we barrow your cell?” She asked Alysia, who nodded.
“How well do you know this place?” Yugi asked Alysia, who gave him an odd look.
“Why?” Alysia asked.
“Because we need some one who knows the place in and out to get them and yourself out of here.” Kia answered.
Alysia was silent then she smirked. “Well, how am I going to help if you don't tell me the plans.” She said
Both of them smiled and hugged her. “Thanks Alysia!” They said in unison.
“This better be worth my damn time.” Alysia said.
