Ch.43: Recovery
-Atemu's POV-
I slowly came to my senses, though I wasn't sure what happened. But it didn't take me long to figure it out. `That's right! I destroyed Seth and somehow found my way to where Yugi is at.' I thought as I remembered him on the bed, looking so much like an angel. `Wait! Am I dead!?' I tried to get up, but I felt pain on my shoulder. `Nope. Still alive. Good.' I went back down on a… bed? I didn't remember being on the bed when I collapsed.
“Atemu.” I heard a quiet voice on the other side.
I looked over and saw Yugi, smiling and his eyes were red, probably been crying.
“Hey Yugi.” I said glad he was okay.
“Hey. How are you feeling?” He asked worry and concern written on his face.
“Like crap.” I said, earning a chuckle from him. “How long was I out?”
“Two days.” He said.
“Really?” I said.
“You really recovered a lot during the short time.” He said. “When the doctors were working they said you might not make it.”
His expression changed as he mentioned this.
“I thought I was going to lose you. I prayed that you're going to pull through and that everything will be fine.” He said as he looked up at me with some tears falling. “And when I heard that you're going to be fine, I was so relieved, but I stayed by your side. I didn't want to leave you alone.” He put his head down and cried.
I let him cry for a while, knowing how much he's been through.
When he did stop crying, he couldn't look at me in the eye.
“Sorry, I'm such a crybaby.” He said, which shocked me for him to think of himself like that.
“No Yugi, you're not what you call a crybaby.” I said getting his attention. “When your emotions are too much to handle, sometimes you need to get rid of some of that emotion. Some cry, others yell.
He looked completely dumbstruck, but he got the idea.
Then there was an awkward silence between us.
“So where are we?” I asked, breaking the silence.
“We're in our hotel room.” He said.
“Where?” I said, confused.
“When I woke up, everyone else, including me, were on some kind of jet plane. So, in your condition, we have to fly to Hawaii, where there is fresh air and not be cooped inside a room like most hospitals.” Yugi explained. “Bakura told me about what happened.”
I looked at him and felt as though I have to explain.
“Is he gone? For good?” He said, a little bit of fear in his eyes.
“How the hell did I get busted up in the first place then?” I said, which made him roll his eyes, but there was relief in those perfect orbs. “So how long do I have to stay in bed?”
“You should be alright to walk, just don't put too much pressure on that one leg and your shoulder still needs to recover a bit.” He said.
I tried to get up the second time and swung my good leg over to the empty side of the bed.
“Hold on Atemu!” He said as he went over to the other side.
He placed his hand on my good shoulder and put me down on the bed.
“What's wrong Aibou?” I asked.
“It's 11:00 p.m. You need to rest a little more.” He said as he let out a yawn.
I smiled as I thought how cute he looked. I then remembered what I wanted to say to him, but I thought I would need to wait to tomorrow. “Looks like I'm not the only one who needs to rest.” I said.
He opened up some of the curtains, showing the clear night sky. I got to a comfortable position, but something was missing. Yugi was heading towards the couch.
“Umm, Yugi.” I said getting his attention. “What are you doing?”
“I'm sleeping on the couch, is there something wrong?” He asked.
“No, but I was wondering if you would stay here with me?” I asked as I patted the empty side.
I thought I saw a flush appeared across his face, but he came up and crawled under the covers.
“Good night Atemu.” He said.
“Good night Yugi.” I said. `My angel who I love so much it seems to tear my soul piece by piece.' I thought as I slowly went to sleep.
~Next Morning~
-Normal POV-
Atemu woke up with the sun's light in his eyes. “Damn sun.” He murmured as a chuckle was heard. He looked up and saw Yugi.
“Morning sleepy head.” Yugi said with a smile.
The sun's light gave the young teen a nice glow as he got up.
“Morning.” Atemu responded as Yugi got out of bed. “Where are you going?”
“I'm going to get dress and we are going to get something to eat.” Yugi said as he stretched out his arms over his head, showing a little of his pale stomach.
Atemu flushed a little when a thought came to mind that he had to quickly erase.
~30 minutes later~
After their breakfast, there was a knock on the door. Yugi got up and answered it.
“Hey Yugi.” Kia said as she and the others entered the room.
“Hey guys.” Yugi said.
“Well if it isn't the sleeping pharaoh.” Marik teased.
“Would you grow up.” Kayra said as she shook her head.
“Feelin' any better?” Bakura asked.
“I'm alive.” Atemu said earning a few chuckles and some shaking their heads.
“He has some sense of humor.” Marik said.
“Be quiet.” Atemu said.
~Hours later~
They talked for what seemed like hours, about their plans in Hawaii.
“Wow! Look at the time!” Ryou said. “We've been here all day.”
“You're right.” Alysia said.
“Who's hungry besides me?” Marik said, which made everyone laugh.
“Atemu.” Bakura said. “You think you be able to walk?”
“The doctors did say that he will Bakura, or did you forget.” Alysia said.
“And you better watch that mouth of yours.” Bakura said.
“Enough you two.” Kayra said as she rolled her eyes.
Atemu took a chance and got out of bed, stumbled a bit but he was able to walk just fine. “Proof enough for you?” He said in a joking tone.
“Alright! Let's get something to eat!” Marik said.
“Is food suddenly more important than me now?” Malik said in a pretend hurt tone.
“Of course not love.” Marik said as he kissed Malik.
Yugi and Atemu wished they could do that as well.
~After dinner~
They were heading back to their huts that they were staying in. It's placed near a cliff, but has the amazing view of the ocean.
“Yugi.” Atemu said, heart beating a lot faster than it should normally be.
Yugi looked up at him. “What's up?” He asked.
Atemu was hesitating, but he thought up an idea. “Do you want to walk down at the beach with me?” He asked.
“Sure.” Yugi said.
~Beach~
They walked side by side in silence for a while.
`Come on Pharaoh Atemu! You have to tell him!' He thought as he opened his mouth to say something, but closed it. `How hard is it to say I love you?' He looked over at the teen from the corner of his eye and let out a silent sigh.
“Hey Atemu! Look at that!” Yugi said as he pointed at the sky.
Atemu looked up and saw falling stars. “I have seen falling stars back in Egypt.” He said. “But, even now, it still holds peoples attention.
“Especially when you live in the city most of your life, where you could hardly see any stars.” Yugi said. “I'm glad you asked me to come. Thanks Atemu.”
“You're welcome Yugi.” Atemu said. He felt tempted to hold his hand but fought the urge to.
“Atemu.” Yugi said.
“What is it Aibou?” Atemu asked as his heart skipped a few beats.
“I… uhh…” Yugi started to say.
Atemu waited patiently, studying the young teen's actions.
“I… I think we should head back, before everyone gets worried.” Yugi said.
Atemu nodded as they started to walk back.
“Do you think we could still see the falling stars tomorrow night?” Yugi asked, feeling bad that they have to go. `Stupid hesitation! Why can't I just tell him already!' He thought.
“If the night sky is clear and there are hardly any lights on, then I'm sure we will.” Atemu said. `Damnit Pharaoh! You have the perfect opportunity to tell him, and you wasted it!' He thought and Yugi nodded, while he tried to maintain his flush to a minimum, but it's getting difficult.
When they reached to their hut, Yugi took a shower, while Atemu looked out on the balcony.
`Why is it so difficult to tell him?' Atemu thought.
When he went back inside, he noticed a note on the nightstand. He picked up the note and began to read.
`Atemu,
Your friends told me that you're in love with Yugi, but, if I know you well enough, you might be having some problems admitting. If you have a hell of a problem saying those three small, but powerful words, then you have to act your emotions. But you should start off with something simple, like a hug, and work your way from there. But you're on your own for this. So don't screw this up!
Your cousin,
Seto Kiaba
P.S. Don't mention any of this to anyone.'
When he finished reading, he thought up a possible way to tell him, but he needs to act out a little, to see if Yugi shows any signs that he is either straight or gay.
