Y-n-Y: Here's the long awaited sequel to "Breaking Barriers."

Yuugi: Are you gonna finish talking yet so you can start writing the story?

Y-n-Y: Impatient are we?

Yuugi: ::nods::

Y-n-Y: Okay, okay! Just a couple quick things first!

Yami: Yes, yes, we know you don't own us.

Yuugi: And that this is the sequel to "Breaking Barriers"

Y-n-Y: -_-;; Well... fine then.

The Other Voice

Chapter 1

Mutou Yuugi sat at his desk while he waited anxiously to leave school. He was in the middle of putting together the most complex puzzle he's ever seen. He couldn't even figure out what the puzzle would be yet since he had only assembled a couple of pieces. /Just a couple more seconds.../

BRRING!

The boy jumped out of his seat and out the door before anyone else. He ran to his house/game shop and upstairs to his room. He put his backpack on his bed and sat at his desk. Yuugi took the lid of the golden box and took out a couple more pieces. /If only I could get this together faster./

Mouto Yami gently took off his necklace and put it on his desk. //Every time I take that thing off, I feel different.// He couldn't quite explain it, but he felt empty without it. He stared at it trying to figure it out.

He found it when he was out with his friends, Mai, Seto, Malik and Bakura, at the mall. He laughed when he remembered Malik and Seto fighting over a strange gold rod. Malik had won, threatening to give Mokuba chocolate. Later that day, Bakura had also bought himself a weird necklace that had a ring on it. At that same shop, he found his necklace.

He laid down on his bed, but couldn't sleep. Finally, he put his necklace back on and fell asleep. Still puzzled by why the pyramid made all the difference.

Yuugi smiled and stretched. He finished it. "What time is it?" He had only stopped when he was called down for dinner, but that was hours ago. "It's 11pm! Good thing tomorrow's no school!"

The boy sighed. He found a piece or rope and tied it to the bottom of the pyramid so the top pointed downwards. He put it around his neck and smiled into his mirror. /There that's better. I would've never guessed that the puzzle would be a pyramid./ He started to get dressed for bed. /I wonder if Grandpa knew. He knows how much I like ancient Egypt./

Yami woke up to the sound of a voice. /There that's better. I would've never guessed that the puzzle would be a pyramid./

"What in the world?" He looked around in his room. No one was there. "Now I'm going crazy."

Then he heard the voice again. /I wonder if Grandpa knew. He knows how much I like ancient Egypt./

"Who's there?!" Yami called out. There was no answer. //I'm going crazy.// Suddenly he felt surprised. He wasn't surprised, but he felt that someone was. /Must be my imagination./ Yami pinched himself to try to end the dream that wasn't a dream. //Oh, boy. I'm turning into a schizophrenic. I'm hearing voices in my head.//

/Ah! What was that?!/

//Can-can you hear me?//

/No, no! It's just a dream./

Yami sighed. //No, this is very real. Do you want to tell me what you're doing in my head?//

/I'm not in your head! You're in mine!/

Yuugi looked down at his puzzle. /I wonder.../

//What?// He took off the puzzle. //Hel-?// He put it back on.

/Ah! So, that's it!/

//What's it?//

/I have this pyramid necklace and when I took it off, I couldn't hear you anymore./

//You have one, too?//

/Yeah, I guess that's why we can hear each other./ Yuugi smiled. "Maybe now I'll have a friend."

//So, what's your name? I'm Mouto Yami.//

/I'm Mutou Yuugi./

//Nice to meet you, but I was trying to get some sleep.//

Yuugi giggled. /Me, too. We can talk again right?/

//Yeah, sure.//

/Okay! Good night!/

//Good night, Yuugi.//

Of course, after all that, how could Yami just fall asleep? He wanted to know why they were able to talk to each other. Eventually, sleep did claim him, but it also took him into a dream...

~*~*~*~Dream/Flashback~*~*~*~

Yami looked around. //Where am I?// He saw a shorter boy that look almost like himself and... he saw himself. But he had much tanner skin and was dressed like a Pharaoh. //What's going on in here?//

The boy that looked like himself shook his head. "Get outta my head!" He snapped the pyramid off the rope and threw it at the wall behind the other Yami. It smashed into pieces. "Answer me!"

"I..." The other Yami looked at the mess by his feet. "I would still build the new residences. So you'd be happy. Even if I couldn't be."

Yami's eyes shot open. //What was that?! That voice sounded familiar.//

/Huh...? Oh, it's you, Yami. You're finally awake./

//That voice sounded like you!//

/What are you talking about?/

//I just had a dream... Tell me, what do you look like?//

/I have violet eyes, my hair is.../

//Violet and black, with blond bangs.//

/How do you know?/

//I told you, I saw you in a dream.//

/What happened?/

Yami described the dream the best he could. //Do you believe in reincarnation?//

/I never really thought about it much. Why?/

Yami got out of his bed. //I think we were those two people.//

/What?/

Yami smiled. //Where do you live?//

/Why?/

//I want to meet you. Maybe we'll be able to remember more together.//

/I leave at the Game Shop in Domino./

Yami started getting dressed. //I know of it. I live in Domino. Do you go to Domino High School?//

/Yeah./

//I wonder why I've never seen you around.//

/Wow! You go there, too?/

//Yes. Okay, I'll be over there soon, is that okay?//

Yuugi smiled. He had found a friend. /Yes, of course! I'll see you soon!/

Yuugi had long since been awake and didn't need to change. He did take off the puzzle though. He didn't want anything to happen to it.

"Yuugi?"

"Yes, Grandpa?"

He chuckled. "You seemed to be staring off into space there. Are you sure you don't want any breakfast?"

"Yes, Grandpa. Guess what?" He didn't wait for a response. "I finished the puzzle!"

"You finished it quite quickly."

Yuugi nodded then he remembered something. "Oh, would it be okay if a friend of mine came over today?" Yuugi asked.

"A friend?" As far as his grandpa knew, Yuugi had no friends. That never dampened Yuugi's spirit though. He was a happy and cheerful boy all his life.

"Yes, he goes to my school."

"Well, I don't seem to think that'll it will be a problem."

"Thanks, Grandpa!" He gave his grandpa a quick hug and went upstairs to tidy up. He thought about what Yami had said. /Maybe we are reincarnated. I suppose it's possible./
