Chapter 2: The duel.

 

“The rules are simple.” the zombie said. “We play according to the Battle City rules, first I go then that pipsqueak, then my partner and then the albino. We play in teams if one of the two loses the other also loses automatically.”

 

“Hey we have names you know!” Yami and Bakura yelled.

 

“But that's fine with us” Yami said.

 

They all got their decks out (Yami and Bakura already had them with them because they had wanted to challenge each other later on in the evening). After that they shuffled and put their decks in their duel disks. (The zombie's had stolen them from a shop since they were now for sale in every shop in town). They each drew five cards.

 

“I begin! “ the left zombie said. I play dragon zombie (1600/0) in attack mode and put two cards face down. That ends my turn.”

 

Ok my turn” Yami said. “I play Big Shield Gardna (100/2600) in defence mode and place three cards face down. That ends my turn.”

 

“Ok.“ the right zombie said. “I play the thirteenth grave (1200/900) in attack mode and place one card face down and end my turn.”

 

“My turn! I play Grand Tiki Elder (1500/800) in attack mode and I play Swords of Revealing light and two face down cards. That ends my turn.”

 

Zombie 1: LP 4000.

Zombie 2: LP 4000.

Yami: LP 4000.

Bakura: LP 4000.

 

“I play De-Spell which destroys your Swords. And after that I play one monster face down in defence mode and let my zombie attack Grand Tiki Elder.”

 

At this Bakura went pale. He had hoped that his swords would have hold on for one more turn but those zombie's just screwed up his plan. Luckily he had a backup just in case.

 

“Not so fast zombie I play Dark mirror force which destroys all your defence monsters and I also activate Wobaku.” Bakura said. His monster remained and was safe.

“Fine!” the zombie said. I place one card face down and end my turn.

 

“Ok I play Celtic guardian in attack mode and attack thirteenth grave!” Yami yelled. The attack was successful which resulted in the zombie losing 200 life points. ”I also activate Sogen. That ends my turn.”

 

“I play Dragon zombie in attack mode and end my turn and use monster reborn to summon back my thirteenth grave, whit that I end my turn.” the zombie said.

 

“I sacrifice my Grand Tiki Elder and summon Dark Necrofear in attack mode! Dark Necrofear attack the left zombie's dragon zombie!” This attack was also successful and the zombie lost 800 LP.

 

Zombie 1: 3200 LP.

Zombie 2: 3800 LP.

Yami: 4000 LP.

Bakura: 4000 LP.

Zombie 1 : 1500 LP. (One dragon zombie 2400/0)

Zombie 2 : 3000 LP. (One Thirteenth grave 2000/1700)

Yami: 500 LP. (A lot of Kuribo's)

Bakura: 2000 LP. (No monsters at the moment)

 

(What Bakura's ahead of Yami how could I let that happen! Don't

worry Yami will still save the day. Yami: Yey! ^_^)

 

It was half an hour later and things didn't look so good. At first Yami and Bakura had gotten an advantage but after a while the zombie's came back and destroyed Bakura's Dark Sanctuary and Yami's Dark Magician plus a lot of his Life Points. The only thing that stood between the zombie's monsters and their Life Points now were a hundred or so Kuribo's since Yami had played Kuribo and multiplier. Right now the zombie's were standing with their mouths hanging wide open since Yami and Bakura couldn't agree on who would do what.

 

“Ok listen” Yami whispered. “I'm ending this now.”

 

“How?” Bakura whispered back.

 

“I'm going to play Slither and wipe them out.”

 

“Do you still have him in your deck? Do you have him in your hand now?”

 

“No but I trust in the heart of the cards to get him next turn.”

 

“Heart of the cards? That's bullshit! You really think you can get him next turn? You're even more naive then Yugi!”

 

“What do you mean by that? He trusts in the heart of the cards and it has never let him down! Anyways just trust me in this one. It'll work.”

 

“Trust you? You gotta be kidding me you know I hate you more then anything so asking me to trust you is like asking me to pick a Nile snake up with my bare hands! I wouldn't trust you if the fate of the world depended on it!”

 

“And what if the fate of your hikari depended on it? Then would you trust me? I know you protect him too because you don't want anything to happen to him.”

 

“No it's just that if he get's killed I have to go back in that ring and I don't want to go back in there if I don't have to. But ok I'll trust you just this once.”

 

“Are you two ready yet?” one of the zombie's asked.

In his turn Bakura summoned Earl of Demise in defence mode and ended his turn.

 

After that it was the zombie's turn. Seeing no way to brake trough the barrier of Kuribo's he summoned Castle of Dark Illusions in defence mode (the second one) which caused the zombie's to become even stronger (Dragon zombie 2600/0 and Thirteenth grave 2200/1900) and ended his turn.

 

“Give up!” the zombie said. “That shield of Kuribo's won't hold forever and then we win and you know it besides you don't seem to agree on anything and you have to agree with your partner and work together to win the duel until now you two have done almost neither.”

 

He was right. Until now they had both played for themselves as the zombie's had helped each other that was how they got the lead in the duel. It was only since last turn that Yami saved Bakura and they started working together much to the disbelief of the zombie's.

 

“You haven't won yet you know.” Yami replied. “It's my turn and I play…” He reached for his deck. This is it if I don't get Slither now we'll probably lose the duel and have to return to the items. Heart of the cards please let me draw Slither. He drew a card, looked and… smiled. It was indeed Slither. “I sacrifice three of my Kuribo's to summon Slither the Sky dragon in attack mode and because I have four cards still in my hand he has 4000 attack points.”

 

As he said that a light appeared. Next thing the zombie's knew there appeared a huge red dragon. It had kind of a square jaw line and two mouths each with teeth sharp enough to cut trough metal. It body was so long it slithered around him, Yami and Bakura. On it's tail were spikes. The mighty duel monster roared.

 

“SLITHER ATTACK!!” : Yami yelled. The monster opened both his mouths and fired his attack. Both of the monsters on both the opponents' fields were destroyed.

 

Zombie 1 : 0 LP.

Zombie 2 : 0 LP.

Yami: 500 LP.

Bakura: 2000 LP.

 

“We won.” Bakura said. “Now you have to keep your part of the bargain.”

 

“Ok, Ok!”; the zombie said as the sign on its forehead disappeared.. “I can't tell you who I am because I'm already dead as for the one I work for it is….” As he reached the word he suddenly started to gasp and both zombie's fell down and disappeared.

 

“I guess that that was it.” Yami said.

 

No kidding, now what do we do?”

 

“Let the hikari's take over I'm exhausted.”

 

Sounds good to me…. Not! I haven't been out of that ring all day and Ryu promised that I could get the body now since it's past eight o'clock. As Bakura said this he started to grin.

 

“Fine!” Yami answered. “But if you do anything wrong don't expect any mercy from me.”

“What you don't trust me? I'm hurt.” Bakura mocked.

 

“Just remember I'll be watching you.” And with that said followed by a yawn Yami disappeared in to the puzzle leaving a sleeping Yugi in control.

 

“Zzzzzzzz, zzzzzzzzzz, zzzzzzz, I don't wanna get up mom…., zzzzzzzzz.

 

Bakura just stared in shock for a while and then….

 

“Bwahahahaha! This proves that the pharaoh is really a baka! Hahahaha!”

 

There was short flash and then Yami yawned.

 

“What's going on? Why are you waking me?”

 

It took Bakura a while before he could control his laugh long enough to try to answer and even then he had trouble not to start laughing again. However Yami was starting to get really pissed and the look on his face said it all… If Bakura didn't answer soon he'd probably be spending the next month, if not longer, in the shadow realm. This forced him to stop laughing.

 

“Have you even checked on your hikari before relinquishing control of the body to him?”

 

“No why?”

 

“If I were you I'd check.” Bakura giggled.

 

“Ok if you insist.” Yami instantly stood before the door to Yugi's soul room thinking that he hated it when Bakura was being mysterious. When he opened the door he immediately knew what Bakura had been laughing over. On the bed lay a peacefully sleeping Yugi. ”That good for nothing thief!” Yami growled. “If he ever tells someone he spends the rest of eternity in the shadow realm!”

 

(If you know Yami well you know he isn't very patient and gets angry just as fast as Bakura when played with except in a duel.)

 

Next thing Bakura knew Yami had him by the throat and was trying to suffocate him. With that they started wrestling each other. The battle was over quickly because they were both tired. They both decided to go to bed for the night although it was early. This wasn't the end of it because Yugi had placed a mattress in his room for Ryu. Bakura refused to sleep on it and the fight started again. This time even worse than before. Luckily for Yami (he had been losing due to tiredness) Yugi woke up and resolved the matter by hauling down an extra bed. After that Bakura laid down and promptly fell asleep. This was the time Ryu had been waiting for and he took over. Yami also went to sleep so Yugi and Ryu could talk.
