Chapter four: Egypt and the past.

The next morning it was Saturday and Yugi usually slept in. Today however this failed miserably. Yami knew they had to leave early and had decided to wake Yugi up in the most unique way possible….. He had summoned a Kuriboh from the shadow realm. The little critter had been totally excited about being out of the shadow realm. And when Yami asked if it could wake Yugi up it was al to happy to oblige, and started jumping on Yugi.

This had caused Yugi to turn over a couple of times and sleep trough. After this Yami decided it was time for more drastic measures and went to Ryu's room. Yugi had finally woken up after a loud bang and a lot of Egyptian curses were heard from the room Ryu slept in.

BANG!

“OW dammit, stupid bed! This is already the fourth time this has happened! I swear it wants me pissed! Well it will have me pissed! I'll send it directly to the shadow realm! Let's see if a dual monster likes it better!!”

After hearing that Yugi ran straight to the room. It was the only spare bed they had and he didn't want it to end up in the shadow realm. Upon entering Ryu was back in control and the bed was missing. Yugi wanted to become mad at Bakura when he heard someone laugh and recognized it immediately. It was Yami in his soul room. When he went in he saw Yami, and knew he had something to do with it.

“Ok Yami what's going on?”

“Do I have to explain?” Yami whined. “It will take too long and you're up now that is all that matters. Let's just say that it's better if I don't explain, I'm saving you from a trip to the shadow realm Ok?” “Ok” Yugi answered.” I believe you.” Phew my hide is saved, he believed me. Not that I didn't expect him to, he is so naive. Yami thought to him self.

/I HEARD THAT BAKA! / Yugi send trough their mind link.

!What? But you weren't supposed to! !

/Well I still did now give that explanation! /

After Yami explained it the whole house could hear Yugi yell at Yami for the next half hour. After that it was time for breakfast. Bakura had heard Yugi yelling and just had to rub it in Yami's face which resulted in the bacon and eggs getting another function than filling one's stomach, namely decorating one's face. Of course this had negative side effects. One of those being too late to catch the plane because the kitchen had to be cleaned. This resulted in Yami and Bakura bickering whose fault it was which started the whole circle over again if that was possible.

They made it just NOT in time for their plane. They had the tickets in their hands and could still see it standing there but they couldn't get aboard anymore (that sucks doesn't it?). Luggage was still being loaded. Then Bakura (who had taken over from Ryu without his permission) came up with the brilliant idea to sneak in with the luggage. After they found one relatively small (Yugi did not exactly agree with this) en one big suitcase they hid in there and with the help of shadow magic put them on the transporter belt. (They didn't take their own because as Bakura put it “They have some essential things we will need in Egypt.”) Everything went quite well. Until they found out that there had been al lot of thefts lately and there would be security in the cargo bay thus effectively making sure they had to spend the trip in the suitcases. Ten minutes after the plane lifted off Yugi started to fidget.

“Little twerp sit still or you'll give us away!” Bakura growled.

“I can't help it the suitcase is to small.” Yugi answered.

“Better then here” came Ryu's answer. (He had now taken over from Bakura without permission and Bakura was not very happy with it) “I got a stinking suitcase and to top it all of there's a sock way to close to my butt for my liking!”

“Oh yeah? Well you don't have a bottle of deodorant sticking up your nose! Now who's better off?”

“Are you treating this as a game you intend to win?” Ryu suddenly asked.

“Actually I think I do.” Yugi replied.

“Your yami is rubbing off on you, you know that?”

“Really he is? I hadn't noticed but now you say it…..I think he does”

!Hey I so do NOT rub off on you! !

/Yes you do Yami I'm starting to think I have to win from Ryu for some reason, just like you with Bakura. /

!…….!

Just then there luck changed. There was a message on the intercom that the security personnel could take their lunch break in the crew compartment of the plane. This meant they had to leave. Since Yugi and Ryu still had their tickets they only had to get out of the suitcases and to their places and everything would be alright. After ten minutes they were in their seats. Luckily they hadn't spend much time in the suitcases and said they had just been in the toilet when a steward asked. He insisted in seeing their tickets but since they still had those it wasn't a problem.

Both of the yami's were amazed. They had never actually been in a plane before. Of course Yami had been in a helicopter with Seto in Battle City but that didn't go as high as a plane. After half an hour the excitement was gone and Yami and Bakura started to get bored. Yugi and Ryu knew it was going to be a long trip and had already fallen asleep. Yami and Bakura took over and tried to behave. That meant Yami tried to behave while Bakura tested how long his patience would remain if he kept annoying the pharaoh. This didn't take long. Yami immediately challenged Bakura to a game. They both took their decks out. They would both pull one card and the one with the highest points be it attack or defence would win. If one drew a magic or trap card and the other a monster the one with the monster would automatically win. If they both drew magic or trap cards the card with the most powerful effect would win. (I've played this game with my brother once, it's really fun). This kept them busy for quite a while. (Guess who won). After the game ended they to fell asleep. Everyone woke up when the message that they'd be landing in Egypt soon rang over the intercom. After the plane landed they went trough customs and collected their suitcases. Now they had one little problem, how where they supposed to get to Isis's house? Neither the hikari's nor the yami's spoke Arabian or modern Egyptian for that matter. Luckily the lady behind the information desk spoke English. They asked if there was a bus going to Alhambra where Malik and Ishizu lived. The lady answered that there was indeed a bus going there. They bought there tickets there and asked when the bus went. It turned out the busses went every four hours. The last one went three hours ago and the next one (the one they had there tickets for) went in one hour.

It was already getting dark when they finally reached the house. The hour of waiting didn't do them very good. Bakura had tried to get back to Yami for winning in the plane. This had brought forth a shadow duel which Yami also won. The duel had lasted over half an hour. They had already waited thirty-five minutes when it started. So of course they missed their bus. After that they decided to walk since the next bus wouldn't go until four hours later. (Talking about bad luck…). Yugi and Ryu weren't happy with this and neither was Yami who was promptly accusing Bakura that it was his entire fault. Of course fighting didn't get them anywhere so they started walking. It was twenty kilometres so it took them five hours to get there. (Two breaks of half an hour.) By then Ryu and Yugi couldn't go any further and when they reached the house they immediately went to bed and fell asleep.

Yami and Bakura took over and started to discuss what they would do tomorrow. After a lot of discussing they agreed they needed to find the bad guy, but where? Then Yami reminded Bakura about the expedition and that it was right after that all the problems started. Perhaps it had something to do with it? They decided to ask around town tomorrow…After they found a translator of course.

In the mean time mystery man had arrived at his tomb. There were a couple of strangers. He could hear them talking.

`This is wonderful!”

“Perhaps it's a pharaoh!”

“Absolutely not! There would be tons of hieroglyphics on the walls if he was. Perhaps it's a tomb robber!”

“If he is then there might be some hieroglyphics here that tell the location of the artefacts he stole!”

“If we can find those we'll be famous!”

“And rich too!”

Listening to the voices told him there where two men and a woman in his tomb. They were assuming he was a tomb robber and hoped to find hieroglyphics which told the location of the treasures he would have stolen if he was one. At least that meant they weren't after the tablet that was hidden there. His companion had made sure to put it in his tomb when he was buried alive.

Flashback:

He was just a five year old boy in the village. They weren't poor because his father was head of the guards for the pharaoh. The pharaoh was very kind and just but not everyone thought he was the most suited to be pharaoh. Some thought he was weak and wanted to dethrone him. It was getting late and he could hear his mother calling him.” Sibuna it's getting late! We're going to eat, so come in!” When he got to the house his father Tamé was there with some other men. After dinner he had to go to bed. His father and the other man stayed in the living room. He heard his father send his mother to get some water. He was curious as to what they were discussing. He sneaked down stairs and listened.

“Ok so next week the plan comes in motion.”

“Yes the high priest has already agreed to help us.”

“And what does he want in return?”

“He wants to be the next pharaoh of course. It's easily done since he is family after all. And he'll be a stricter one than that wimp pharaoh Atemu! He's way too soft for his own good! If the other countries find out there will be war!”

“Well next week he'll be dead and the high priest will be pharaoh instead.”

“Do you know what to do Tamé?”

“Yes I'll lure the pharaoh out of the palace saying the village is attacked by raiders. When he gets here you will kill him. Then I'll inform the high priest that the raiders killed the pharaoh. He'll assume the throne since he is family and tell Kemet the sad news. After that, we're all richer than we ever hoped to be and Kemet is saved!”

“Ok it's settled then. See you next week Tamé.”

After that he could hear the other man leaving. He didn't really understand what they had said. Something about saving Kemet? Oh well it was probably nothing.

Next week the plan went into action. However it failed. Tame took Yami to the village but had a change of heart right after they entered and tried to warn him for the attack. It was already too late. The pharaoh survived barely. His father was executed for treason along with the raiders soon after. When he was twelve his mother told him what had happened to his father. Until then she had told him he died while protecting the pharaoh. He swore he would get back at the pharaoh for doing that to his father. Sure, his father was involved but he had a change of heart and tried to warn the pharaoh. However after the attack the pharaoh hadn't spoken to the prisoners and sentenced them all to dead. He would make the pharaoh pay! It was common knowledge that Atemu had huge shadow powers. That was how he survived the attack. The raiders also had great shadow powers but not as great as Atemu's. His father too had shadow powers. And so did he. He would train them and kill Atemu.

Ten years later he tried to kill Atemu his bathroom but it failed. Atemu's powers had increased even more and he had to flee for his live. Heavily wounded he had fled to the desert. When he was about to die he had found a cave. In the cave was a temple in honour of Anubis. His mother had been priestess in that temple before she got married and had told him of it, he had completely forgotten about that but it came back to him in no time.. He explored the entire cave which turned out to be abandoned. He also found a medallion in the shape of the head of Anubis upon an alter. He picked it up and hung it around his neck. When he was about to leave a priest walked in. When the priest saw him wearing the medallion he fell to his knees and said that Sibuna was chosen by Anubis to be his High Priest, since only the High Priest of Anubis could wear the medallion. The next two years he studied everything there was to know about Anubis. One day he came across a scroll. On the scroll stood a ritual which would allow you to wield the powers of Anubis! He had carried out the ritual making the medallion the source with which to call forth the powers. In essence the medallion held all the powers of Anubis.

After that he had wreaked havoc upon Kemet. In the ultimate attempt to save Kemet Atemu had used the power of the pharaoh to seriously injure him and knock him out for several days. However Atemu was already badly wounded before he did that and when he used the power of the pharaoh it was too much for his body. However the power had a side effect. It sealed Atemu's soul in the Puzzle that channelled his powers, the Millennium Puzzle. After Atemu was buried the new pharaoh ordered for Sibuna to be buried alive. The priest he had found in the cave had visited him in the dungeons. He had asked if he could make sure that he tablet which contained instructions in how to awaken and seal shadow powers would be buried with him along with the medallion because when he would reawaken his powers would be gone and he had to reawaken them with it. It would also be handy in taking the powers of Atemu away. When he was put in his coffin and everyone was gone, the priest had sabotaged the door so that if anyone took the medallion out the door would open. It had taken a lot of effort to bribe the builder of that mechanism because when someone took the medallion out a trap should activate and kill that person. After he bribed the builder of the door, the builder had changed the mechanism so the door would open.

End of flashback.

He shook his head. He shouldn't be thinking about the past anymore. Besides he would kill Yami soon enough along with that white haired kid. He still needed their items. Their magic would increase the magic of the medallion and then, not even if the shadow powers of those weaklings awakened, he couldn't be stopped. But first things first he thought. Let's get rid of these annoying people and relocate this tomb before others comes snooping around. He concentrated and the medallion started to glow. “Man eater bug come forth!” Right after that something that looked like a crossing between a mantis and a locust stood before him. The beast was completely green and at least 1.90m if it stood on its hind legs. `Go and kill those desecraters! ` He commanded. Not long after screams could be heard. After that an eerie silence went trough the tomb. He dismissed the man eater bug and concentrated again. The medallion started to glow again.
