Take Me Back

Ryou poured himself a hot cup of tea and walked towards the front window in the living room. He pulled back the curtains slightly and looked outside.
Seto sat on the couch, his arms crossed, looking at his friend. “What's wrong, Ryou?”
“I'd thought that Bakura and Marik would be home by now. What's taking them so long?”
“Maybe they ran into a few obstacles getting their powers back,” Malik suggested.
“I don't know what to think. I hope they're okay.”
Ryou sat on the highback chair and sipped his tea. “I hope that Marik can straighten this out with the paper tomorrow. I don't like to be in the spotlight like this.”
“I don't blame you, Ryou. I gotta go get groceries and I can't do it if I have these creeps examining everything I buy! I saw them digging through our garbage the other day! I wonder what they hope to find.”
Karl raised an eyebrow. “They are going through your garbage?”
Malik nodded. “I saw them myself! I don't know what they think they're going to find.”
Jay leaned against the front door. “I don't know what would make them so desperate to even want to search through someone's garbage.”
“It's truly absurd if you ask me,” Ryou said.
“I'm glad nobody sneaks through my garbage to prowl into my lifestyle,” Seto said. “I'm glad nobody obsessed that much over me.”
Ryou stared into his cup of hot tea. He stirred it with his teaspoon, a frown on his face. “Seto? What do you think they're going to do about Marik and Bakura?”
“What can they do? They haven't caught either of them doing anything illegal or dangerous to the community. Until that happens, nobody can touch them. They haven't given these people any indication of that, right?”
Malik shifted uncomfortably in his chair. “Marik came home from work covered in blood one night. The people outside kept asking if Marik worked in a slaughterhouse. I gave them that excuse to help deter any suspicions they were having.”
“Oh, that's the night Marik was blood drunk,” Karl said.
“Yeah, he was blood drunk, alright. He pounded me into oblivion after he got home. I didn't even see it coming. I was asleep when he started doing very naughty things.”
Seto shrugged. “Not surprising. He was covered in blood.”
“In all honesty, I tried to clean him up so he didn't look so bad,” Karl said.
“Ryou, Marik and Bakura pose no visible threat to the community. Until they do, the cops and the citizens of Domino can't do a thing to them.”
Ryou shrugged. “I didn't want our secret to get out to the world that they were spirits. Everyone was convinced that Bakura was just my husband….that there wasn't anything else between us.”
“Looks can be deceiving,” Seto said. “Right now, that is your best weapon. If everyone looks normal, acts normal, then there shouldn't be a problem. These people are operating under the Duck Theory: If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, it probably is a duck.”
Malik giggled. “I never thought I'd hear you ever say that.”
“What?”
“The Duck thing. Do you like ducks, Seto?”
Seto shook his head. “It was just an example, Malik.”
“Awww…Seto likes little baby duckies!”
“I never said I liked ducks.”
“You DO like them! Little duckies in sailor suits?”
Seto groaned. “I knew it. You're just as demented as your other half.”
“If it poops like a duck, would that make it a duck, too?”
Seto blinked and stared at Malik silently for a few moments. “Yes.”
Malik giggled. “That's a relief!”
Ryou and Karl lifted their heads as they heard a commotion outside. Jay stood at the door and readied his weapon. Ryou ran to the window and peeked outside.
“Jay, open the door!”
Jay opened the door as Yugi was pushed inside by the mob. Jay struggled to close the door as the reporters tried to push their way inside.
“Yugi? What are you doing here?”
Yugi brushed himself off. “I heard what was going on here and I had to come here and see for myself. It's like pandemonium out there!”
“I know. Some of the people have gone home for the night, but some stay through the night.”
Yugi looked up at Seto. “Hi, Seto. Nice to see you again.”
“It's been a long time, Yugi.”
Yugi nodded. “Things at the shop are slow. Glenn's keeping an eye on things. How's Joey doing, Seto?”
“Joey……is alive. We still haven't found a donor that is suitable.”
“Oh, I see. I'll have to come over and see him sometime. I really hope something good happens for him.”
“I'll be sure to let him know that, Yugi. You can come over anytime you want. He had a bit of a rough day today, so he's resting right now.”
Yugi removed a paper from his jacket. “I figured I'd bring this to your attention, Seto.”
Seto took the paper from Yugi and narrowed his eyes when he saw the headline: `Spirit Employed By KaibaCorp?'
“This is just nonsense now!” Seto growled as he opened the paper. “'Spirit Employed by KaibaCorp?' It appears that KaibaCorp, the most powerful and influential company in the city of Domino, now employs not only living people….but dead spirits! Once a provider of military tanks and ammunition, KaibaCorp is now the premier gaming and technology development company of the 21st century. What advantage does KaibaCorp hope to gain by employing individuals who are-.'” Seto raised his eyebrow. “'Mortally-challenged?'”
Malik slapped his forehead and laughed loudly. “'Mortally-challenged?? This is more of comedy than reality!”
Ryou stood up and read over Seto's shoulder. “'One individual in question has been reported to be a high-ranking official in the KaibaCorp administration. Does Seto Kaiba, the CEO of KaibaCorp, hope to gain an advantage over the competition by employing employees who are superhuman? Do these immortal spirits seek to gain power of the one of the most powerful companies in the country?'”
Seto rubbed his forehead. “I think I need to speak to my publicist when I get home….and a Tylenol.”
Ryou stepped away from Seto and Yugi, holding the magazine in one hand and his cup of hot tea in the other. “Can't you get them for slander?”
“They're not saying anything degrading about my company or are accusing me of doing anything. All I need to do is issue a public statement that everything in this article is erroneous.”
“Ry, is it written by the same guy?” Malik asked.
Yugi looked on the front page. “This is written by the Domino Sun.”
“The other article was written by the Domino Times Herald. This is a different magazine,” Ryou said, putting his hot tea down on the coffee table. “That means that another paper now has our story.”
Yugi looked up at Ryou. “I had a few people come in today asking me if I knew anything from Duelist Kingdom about you, Ry. I told them that was a long time ago. I also told them that I didn't see anything different between you and Bakura and that both of you dueled in Duelist Kingdom and the Battle City Tournament.”
Malik's eyes widened. “Wow…they're really trying to dig up the past, aren't they?”
“Twenty years in the past is a long time to be digging up,” Seto said.
“Yeah, you were still a snot then, Kaiba,” Malik said.
“And you were still a freak,” Seto said.
“FREAK POWER!” Malik screamed out loud with a smile.
Ryou put the magazine down. “Did they ask any other information about me, Yugi?”
Yugi shook his head. “No, not really, Ryou. They were more interested in how I knew you from Duelist Kingdom. All I said is that you dueled against me. I didn't go into details because I didn't know what they would say about you.”
Ryou hugged Yugi. “Thank you, Yugi. I appreciate your help.”
“I don't see these reporters as being fair. I've read what they had said about you and Bakura. I don't know how far they will go to get your story, though.”
Ryou sighed. “That is what bothers me.” Ryou walked to the window and peeked out of the curtain. “I have to go to my mother's grave and put flowers on it. These people seem to follow any of us anywhere we go. I don't want them asking questions about my mother and bringing her into this.”
“There is something to be said for decency, Ry. I don't think they'll follow you to your mother's grave,” Jay said.
“Not these people. They follow any of us around.”
“It's like a Literary Paparazzi,” Malik said. “They follow any of us around. They obviously followed Marik to work at least once.”
Ryou sighed. “I'm not going to stop doing what I want to do because of them. I've never forgotten to put a rose on my mother's grave once and I'm not going to stop now.” Ryou climbed the stairs and walked into his room. He sat at the edge of the bed and buried his face in his hands. `Mother, I'm not going to back down. I'm going to do this for you. It's the least I can do for you sacrificing your life to save mine.'
Ryou lowered his hands and looked on his bureau. A tiny white ceramic angel made him smile. He reached out and touched it with his hand. He had bought a pair of matching angels to decorate her grave. He kept one and placed it on his bureau and the other one he placed on her grave. He looked across to Bakura's side of the bureau and saw Bakura's statue of Osiris flanked by two white candles.
Bakura had placed a small bowl of chocolates in front of the statue and claimed they were offerings to Osiris. `Even the gods need a little chocolate,' he would say before taking one of the `offerings' and eating it with a grin.
Ryou felt a breeze behind him and he turned his head quickly. The curtains swayed in the night breeze. He stood up and pulled open the curtains. Below the window the reporters were still gathered. Their vans were still parked outside carrying their equipment. Ryou shook his head and sighed.
“It doesn't have to be this way.”
Ryou's eyes widened and he turned around quickly. Before he could speak, a hand was wrapped around his neck and was grasping him tightly.
The assailant smiled. “It doesn't have to be this way, Ryou.”
Ryou struggled to breathe. “Y-Yami….let go….”
The pharaoh smiled. “You don't like the attention these people are giving you?”
Ryou grabbed Yami's wrist trying to pull himself away. “Let go of me….”
“Now, why do you suppose your yami left you all alone at a time like this?”
“Searching….”
Yami raised his eyebrow. “Oh? He is searching for something?”
“Won't tell you….”
Yami grinned. “And why not?”
Ryou struggled to breathe as his airway was constricted by Yami's grasp. “You put…my family….in danger…”
“I didn't, Ryou……you did.”
His eyes narrowed. “I didn't…..”
“Yes, you did,” Yami said, leaning into his prey. “You opened yourself to danger. WYou opened Bakura and Marik's opportunity to be discovered. You put your children in danger when you conceived them. They are all in danger….and it's all because you couldn't keep your legs together.”
Ryou clenched his fists and punched the pharaoh. “Bastard!”
Yugi called up from downstairs. “Ryou?! Are you okay up there?”
“YU---!”
Yami pulled Ryou against his body. “Don't put Yugi's life in danger, too.”
Ryou swallowed hard and looked up into the purple eyes. The pharaoh's glare pierced down into his own like sharp daggers.
“Now, we're going downstairs….and I am going to speak to my other half.”
“Don't hurt Yugi…”
Yami grinned. “I could never harm my other half.”
Ryou looked into Yami's purple eyes. “You already did that.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You already hurt Yugi, Yami. You broke his heart. You betrayed him. How could he love you after all you've done to this family….and to him?”
The pharaoh glared down at his prey. “What made you such a high and mighty judge, Ryou Thomas Bakura? I could ask the same of your yami.”
“Bakura never betrayed me like you betrayed Yugi. Who's the real criminal here?”
Yami grabbed Ryou's throat and squeezed. “I would keep my mouth shut if I were you, Ryou. I have a very short temper. Now, we are going downstairs so I can see the fruit of my work.” The pharaoh released Ryou. “If I see you resisting me, I will kill you and everyone downstairs instantly.”
Ryou swallowed hard and turned around. `Bakura…..he gave me the dagger!' Ryou started walking towards the stairs and reached under his shirt. Bakura's dagger was still snapped to his jeans. He covered the weapon with his shirt and stood at the top of the stairs.
“Go downstairs, Ryou,” Yami grinned.
Ryou slowly walked downstairs and stopped when he could see everyone in the living room. Seto and Yugi were sitting on the couch beside one another looking up at him. Yami poked Ryou from behind and he continued walking down the steps.
Yugi and Seto saw Yami and jumped from their seats. “YAMI!”
Yami grinned as he stood behind Ryou and heard the crowd outside chattering loudly. “The one and only.”
Jay and Karl drew their weapons and trained them on Yami.
“I wouldn't do that if you risk Ryou's life….or your own for that matter,” Yami sneered at the two men.
Yugi stepped in front of Seto. “What do you want here?”
“I want you to take me back.”
Seto crossed his arms. “Give me one good reason why Yugi should.”
“This does not concern you, Seto Kaiba. I would keep my nose out of places where it doesn't belong.”
“Yami, I don't want to take you back. I'm with Glenn and I don't want you back at all. Glenn's more of a partner to me than you are now.”
Malik came out of the kitchen and gasped. “Yami!”
“Can Glenn do this?” Yami asked as he extended his arm towards Malik and a ball of dark energy shot out quickly, knocking Malik back into the other room. The Egyptian was thrown back into the cupboard and fell.
“MALIK!” Ryou screamed as he ran to the kitchen to see Malik face-down on the ground among broken plates glass. He ran to Malik and checked that no broken glass was embedded in his forehead.
Karl and Jay cocked their weapons. “STEP BACK!”
“As I said before, gentlemen, it will only take a snap from my fingers and you will all find yourselves in the Underworld. I can make that happen.” Yami walked towards Yugi. “Can Glenn conjure up the Shadows to protect you?”
“MALIK WASN'T THREATENING ME!” Yugi roared.
“No, but he did at one time.”
Seto stepped in front of Yugi. “Yami, this has gone too far. I won't let you hurt Yugi.”
“What makes you think I would harm my other half?”
“Because you would harm anyone to get what you want.”
Yami chuckled. “How is Joey, Seto? Pushing up daisies yet?”
Seto clenched his fists. “How can you talk that way about Joey? You know as well as I do that he used to be your best friend. Remember all that friendship babble from Duelist Kingdom?”
“I use anyone to get what I want. Joey was no different.”
Yugi stepped from behind Seto with tears in his eyes. “I hate you.”
Yami's slight smile faded. “I know you don't mean that.”
“I do. I HATE YOU!” Yugi bellowed.
“You don't know the consequences of saying what you are saying, Aibou.”
Yugi narrowed his eyes. “I don't care. I hate you. I hate what you have become! I hate the fact that you have grown so jealous that you will hurt innocent people to get to me! And I bet you are totally responsible for this whole situation outside! Why can't you just pull the finger out of your ass and admit that I do not belong to you anymore?! You can't face the fact that people live their lives the way they want to and not the way that you want them to live! Just because you were the pharaoh in Egypt does not mean that everyone will bow to your will now!”
Yami glared down at his other half as Seto saw Ryou emerge from the kitchen creeping slowly. He watched Ryou sneak behind Yami.
“I have heard enough.”
Yami whipped around and grabbed Ryou by the arm. “You will all die…..starting with you!”
Ryou reached under his shirt and grabbed the dagger. Yami caught his wrist as Ryou jabbed it.
“You definitely want to die!” Yami growled.
Seto jumped behind Yami and grabbed Yami's wrist.
“Get off of me, High Priest!”
Karl and Jay grabbed onto Yami's arms and tugged.
“I won't…..let you hurt Ryou or Yugi!” Seto winced as he tried pulling Yami's arm back.
Ryou pulled his arm away with Yami distracted as he grabbed the dagger with the other hand. Seto pushed Yami forward onto the dagger.
Yami let out a scream as he fell against Ryou and pinned him against the entertainment center. Two Egyptian vases toppled over and crashed to the ground, shattering. A small angel figurine fell on its side.
Ryou pulled the dagger out of the pharaoh. Seto stepped back as Yami stopped struggling and fell to his knees. He grabbed Yami and pulled him back off of Ryou.
The pharaoh fell to his knees and Yugi ran to Seto. “Yugi…..”
Yugi stood beside the CEO. “I hate you, Yami.”
Yami covered his wound with his hands and clenched his eyes shut in pain. “This is not over…..”
Seto and Yugi watched as Yami disappeared in a black cloud of smoke. Ryou looked down at himself and saw his white shirt covered in Yami's blood.
Ryou looked at the dagger covered in blood.
The crowd outside began to talk louder.
“DAMMIT, YOU PEOPLE SUCK!”
Seto turned his head. “Sounds like Marik's home.”
Yugi ran to the door and cameras started to flash at him. Bakura and Marik were pushing their way through the crowd as the cameras flashed brightly.
“Come on in, guys! We need your help!”
Bakura plowed his way, pushing people aside to get to the door. ”Get inside, Yugi!”
Yugi stepped inside as the two yamis burst inside. Yugi closed the door.
“Ryou! What the hell?!” Bakura exclaimed.
“You just missed him,” Karl said.
“Who?”
“Yami,” Jay responded.
Marik and Bakura ran to Ryou.
“Marik, Malik needs help in the kitchen!” Yugi said quickly, pulling on Marik's leg.
Marik followed Yugi into the kitchen and found his Light unconscious on the floor. “Tenshi!” Marik kneeled beside his Light and brushed the broken shards of glass away.
“Yami was here,” Yugi said.
Marik growled and saw a little patch of red on Malik's hair. “Fuck me. Yugi, get me a towel or something. They're in the drawer under the sink. Get two.”
Yugi ran to the drawer and grabbed two towels. “Yami threw him back into the cabinet.”
“Malik will be okay, Yugi. A day or so in his soulroom and he'll be back to normal.”
“Soulroom? I thought you couldn't go into them anymore.”
Marik grinned. “I beat Pharaoh-PrissyPants at his own game. Itemri and I got our powers back. It took a trip, but we had to do it.” The yami placed the towel against Malik's head.
“Yami wanted to take me back.”
“To the Shadow Realm?”
“No, he wanted me to take him back and get rid of Glenn.”
Marik rolled his eyes. “That's a bunch of bullshit, Yugi. Yami's just tired of using his own hand to get himself off. There's only so much that he can take. He probably banged the Mystical Elf too hard.”
“I don't want to take him back, Marik.”
“Then don't. Stand your ground.”
“But look at what it does! Malik got hurt because of me!”
Marik took the second towel and brushed the shards of glass away from Malik's side. “This might look bad, but it's not. Malik's had worse. I could show you his back. That's the deepest cut of all.”
Yugi shook his head. “No, Marik. I saw it before.”
“Don't worry, Hikari Yugi. Malik will be okay. Trust me.”
Yugi was silent as Marik placed Malik on his back with the towel under his head. “Yami was going to kill us.”
Marik looked up into Yugi's eyes. The shorter duelist saw the same determination and strength in those eyes as there had always been. “Yami's not going to get near anybody without going through me, Yugi. That includes you, too. If Yami ever shows up at your place and acting stupid like he always does, you call me up and I'll be there.”
“I don't want him to hurt Glenn, either.”
“He'll be safe, too. I'll make sure he can still strip and do his medical thing.”
Yugi raised an eyebrow. “How do you know Glenn strips?”
Marik snickered. “I've been to all the clubs and strip joints in the city. I've never ordered special attention from Glenn, but he is a good dancer.”
Yugi blushed. “Yeah, he is.”
“I don't see how he has time to be a stripper AND a male nurse AND help you with the store. I just don't see how he does it all.”
Yugi shrugged. “He has lots of energy, I guess. He doesn't do all those jobs everyday, though.”
“I better get Malik to bed. It will be more comfortable upstairs.”
Marik carefully picked Malik up and carried him. In the living room, Bakura was examining the blood on the dagger.
“How is Malik?”
“He'll be fine, Itemri. I'm taking him upstairs.”
Ryou removed his shirt. “I'm going to see if I can get this stain out.”
Ryou followed Marik up the stairs.
“What's so fascinating about the blood on that dagger?” Seto asked Bakura.
Bakura scratched his head. “Well, besides the sweet smell, there's something different about it.” Bakura touched the blade and pulled his hand away quickly. “The blade is hot!”
“How is the handle?”
“It's not hot or anything. It's warm from being handled, but that's it.”
Seto watched Bakura's eyes focus intently on the blade. “I'm going to check on Ry.”
Bakura's attention fixated on the blade as Yugi walked out of the kitchen.
“Bakura, are you okay?”
Bakura walked to the couch and sat down. “Yes.”
Yugi watched as Bakura's eyes darkened. “Bakura, are you sure?”
Bakura held the dagger up and his eyes widened as a mist of smoke drifted upwards. “The blade……it's smoking.”
“What can cause that?”
“I have no frickin'clue.”
While Bakura and Yugi watched the smoke drift upwards, Seto knocked on the bathroom door. “Ryou?”
“Come in, Seto.”
Seto opened the door and saw Ryou wringing out the shirt. “How's it coming?”
“I'll need to wash it right away.”
Seto stood in front of Ryou. “How about you?”
Ryou sighed. “I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt. Marik told me that Malik will be okay.”
“Ishtars are made of tough stuff, for certain. Crazy stuff, too….”
Ryou smiled slightly. “Yes, that is true.”
Seto stood behind Ryou and wrapped his arm around him from behind. He rested his head on Ryou's shoulder and inhaled the scent of Ryou's sweet cologne deeply. “You were very brave.”
“I didn't want anyone to get hurt.”
Seto kissed the side of Ryou's neck. “I'm proud of you, baby.”
“Like I said, I didn't want anyone to get hurt. Thank you for helping me, Seto.”
Seto kissed the side of Ryou's jaw. “Don't mention it.”
Seto's hands reached up and rubbed Ryou's chest lightly. The white-haired man sighed and leaned back into the CEO's touch. Seto held Ryou close against his body. The CEO inhaled deeply and hugged Ryou tightly.
`It's so hard not to think of Ryou in the ancient past,' Seto thought.
“Am I interrupting something?” Bakura leaning against the door.
Seto released Ryou. “Nothing too naughty.”
“Not from what I saw, moneybags. I can get my camera from the other room and take a picture.”
Ryou held up his shirt. “Seto wasn't doing anything, Bakura. He came up here to check on me.”
“How's the shirt?”
“It just needs some washing and stain remover. It should come out.”
Bakura held up the dagger. “I wanted you both to see this.”
Seto and Ryou looked at it. “Is that blade smoking?”
“I don't understand it at all. The blade is hot to the touch, too.”
“That is very….strange. I've never seen yami blood do that.”
Bakura nodded. “I know. My blood never did that before to this blade. I'm not going to test it on Marik, either. I don't know what caused it.”
“I've never seen blood make any blade do that,” Ryou said.
“I'm gonna show Ishtar this and see what he has to say,” Bakura said, disappearing out of the doorway.
Seto grabbed his cellphone. “I should call Joey and see how he is holding up.”
“If you need to leave, Seto, we'll understand.”
Ryou carried his shirt down the stairs as Seto made his phone call.
[Joey here…..]
“Hi, baby. How are you feeling?”
[Seto? Can you come home?]
“I'll be there soon, Joey. Just relax.”
[Please come home. I miss you.]
“Alright, Joey. I'll come home. I have to take Yugi home and then I'll come home.” Seto heard a sniffle over the phone. “It won't be long, I promise.”
[Love you, Seto.]
“Love you, too, puppy.”
Seto closed the cell phone, glad that Joey had become more responsive as the day progressed. Dr. Zira had told him that cirrhosis could cause Joey to become unresponsive due to toxins that the liver was not eliminating. Seto descended the stairs and turned to Jay and Karl. “We need to get Yugi home and then I need to go home. One of you come with Yugi and I.”
“Jay, you can go home. I'll take care of Yugi and Mr. Kaiba.”
Jay nodded. “Okay, then.”
“Are you sure you want to take me home, Seto?” Yugi asked. “If Joey needs you, you should just go home.”
“No, Yugi. I'm not letting you leave here and get mauled by the crowd outside. They'll tear you apart. You're coming with me.”
Jay and Karl looked outside the window. “It seems like the crowd is calming down a bit.”
“That won't last long,” Ryou said, returning from the basement.
“Ryou, I'm going to take Yugi home.”
Ryou nodded. “I think that would be best. Marik and Bakura are here now.” Ryou walked up to Seto and hugged him. “Thank you so much for staying here with me, Seto.”
Seto grinned and kissed the top of Ryou's forehead. “Call me if you need me. Feel free to give Jay and Karl a call, too.” Seto wrote their number on the back of a business card.
“Call us whenever you need us, Ryou. Since we're right around the corner, we'd be here in a snap.”
Ryou took the card. “Thank you.”
“Good Luck, Ryou.”
Seto opened the door and the cameras snapped and flashed. “No comment! No comment!”
“Mr. Kaiba, what was the cause of the loud screaming inside?!”
“Mr. Kaiba, how are you affiliated with the spirits in the house? Are you trying to exorcise them?”
“Mr. Kaiba, is it true that your lover is terminally ill?”
Seto narrowed his eyes. “No comment!”
Ryou watched the CEO and his friends push through the crowd. When they entered the limo, he shut the door.
Ryou leaned against the door and sighed. He walked towards the couch and sat down. He buried his face in his hands and sighed again. `Yami came too close this time….he almost……'
A gentle hand was placed on Ryou's legs. He uncovered his eyes and saw Bakura staring at him.
“Ryou? Are you okay?”
Ryou nodded and hugged Bakura tightly around the shoulders. “What did you do with the dagger?”
“Marik is looking at it right now.”
“How is Malik?”
“He's not awake yet, but he'll be okay.”
Ryou sighed and held Bakura tighter. “Did you get what you were looking for?”
Bakura nodded. “I sure did. I can imagine that our soulrooms will need a little cleaning. I'll have to clear the cobwebs out of mine. No need for a jail cell to look like a haunted house.”
“I should make sure things are back to normal in there. It's been a while since I've been in there.”
Bakura grinned. “I think that would be a good idea.”
Bakura sat beside Ryou and held his hand. “Let's go check out our rooms.”

******************************

Bakura and Ryou arrived in the hallway in front of their respective soulrooms. Bakura grabbed the handle of the prison cell. He tugged and the door wouldn't budge. He growled and pulled harder.
“Come on…you…bastard….open!”
Bakura gave the door one more hard tug and the door flew open. He sighed and walked inside the dark prison cell. The yami sneezed and looked around at the dust on the cot. “I wonder if everything is still here.”
Bakura kneeled by the cot and reached under, bringing out a black box. “It's still here,” he said with a smile.
He opened the box and grinned. “I'm amazed it's still here.”
He removed a picture of himself back in Egypt. During one of his vacations to Egypt, he dressed in his old garb and had a picture taken. He flipped through other pictures, including some he had taken of Ryou when he was eleven years old. The little boy stood in the middle of the picture, his head hung low, and a sign around his neck reading `I'm nothing.'
Bakura took the picture and looked at the sad expression on the little boy's face. “Ryou…..”
Bakura tore the picture in two and placed it back in the box.
He heard Ryou moving objects around. The hikari gave a little sneeze and Bakura chuckled.
“This place really needs a good cleaning, doesn't it, Ry?” Bakura called out.
“Tell me about it….ACHOO!”
“Do you think they have Maid Services for Musty, Dusty Soulrooms?”
Ryou laughed. “I don't know if they have that, yami. I doubt it.”
“Well, we need one,” Bakura said, standing up.
He opened the door joining his and Ryou's room together. Ryou had lit the fireplace and was warming his hands.
“This place got really cold. Leave your door open so this way the warmth gets into your room. How's it looking?”
“Dark, dusty, and cold like how when I died in it five thousand years ago. It just needs some good warming,” the yami said, kneeling beside his light and warming his hands by the fire. “I would have given my right arm for a fire in my prison cell at night.”
Ryou smiled slightly. “I can imagine the cell would get cold at night.”
“Very cold. So cold that your nuts would fall off.”
“Ow,” Ryou winced.
“Very ow,” Bakura said, rubbing his hands together.
Ryou wrapped his arms around himself and rubbed his upper arms. “At least it can get warm in here now,” he said standing up. “I can change the dusty sheets on this bed. Can you give me a hand?”
Bakura stood up and helped Ryou change the sheets on the bed. Bakura tucked the white comforter under the mattress. Bakura sat on the bed and laid down on the bed. “I forgot how good this bed felt.”
Ryou smiled. “Move over, yami.”
Bakura shifted back towards the wall and Ryou laid beside him, facing him. “It's been a while since we were together in your soulroom.”
Ryou grinned and rubbed Bakura's chest. “It's been a long time, alright. It's been too long.”
“It doesn't even smell too bad for being locked for such a long time. It just needs a little dusting. I don't see any webs or anything either.”
“I'll clean up in here tomorrow.”
“I'm going to go with Marik to the Domino Times Herald to speak to that guy who keeps writing these articles about us. I'll be there to make sure Ishtar doesn't spill too much unnecessary blood.”
Ryou nodded. “That's a good idea.”
Bakura reached up and caressed Ryou's cheek. “I'll take care of my soulroom.”
Ryou leaned over and kissed Bakura on the lips. He shifted close to his yami and continued rubbing Bakura's chest. Bakura wrapped his arm around Ryou, pulling him closer. The yami wrapped his right leg around Ryou, pulling his husband closer to him. The yami's hand drifted down Ryou's back and rubbed his lower back.
Ryou kissed Bakura's jaw down to his neck and sucked lightly on the skin.
Bakura pressed himself against Ryou and lifted himself up to lay on top of his hikari. Ryou shifted to the middle of the bed and started unbuttoning Bakura's shirt. The yami's hands drifted up Ryou's side and ran his thumb over Ryou's left nipple. Bakura kissed down Ryou's neck and his chest.
Ryou smiled and ran his finger through Bakura's long, white hair. He finished unbuttoning Bakura's shirt and helped Bakura discard it to the side of the bed.
Ryou's hands ran up Bakura's back slowly and around to Bakura's chest, rubbing it softly, and running his thumbs over Bakura's own hardening nipples.
The yami kissed his husband's lips with a hungry moan. The yami settled between his husband's legs and pressed against him.
Ryou whimpered in response to Bakura's pressure against him.
“Now this place is starting to warm up. Wouldn't you say, angel?”
Ryou nodded and smiled. “I would say it's going to get much warmer than this.”
Bakura kissed Ryou's jaw and sucked on the side of Ryou's neck. The hikari whimpered as he felt Bakura's hand rub between his legs. Ryou bit his lip as he felt Bakura's fingers brush against his arousal though the pants.
The hikari arched his back as the yami pressed against him harder.
“Bakura….”
The yami nipped the side of Ryou's neck with a little growl. Ryou whimpered again as Bakura's hand abandoned its rubbing motion.
Bakura pulled back from Ryou and licked Ryou's lips playfully. “It's about to get a whole lot hotter in here, baby.”
Bakura stepped off of the bed and removed his jeans. Ryou grinned up at his yami with his arms above his head.
The yami kicked his own pants to the side and reached towards Ryou's pants. Ryou grinned as Bakura unfastened his jeans and slipped them off.
“Didn't you want to help me with that?”
Ryou giggled. “I know you enjoy doing that part, so I let you do that on your own.”
Bakura snickered and settled between his lover's legs again. “Do you suppose our old lube is still good here?”
Ryou shrugged. “I have no idea. It should be okay. It's still in the drawer beside the bed here. I looked.”
“Well, if it doesn't work, we'll have to go to Plan B.”
“What, pray tell, is Plan B?”
Bakura grinned. “Wouldn't you like to know?”
“Something tells me I should wait and see.”
Bakura kissed down Ryou's chest and down his ribcage. Ryou moaned as he lifted his arms above his head. Bakura kissed each of Ryou's ribs as he kissed down to Ryou's belly button. Bakura licked and kissed Ryou's warm skin as he watched Ryou's cheeks turn warm with his rising passion. The hikari bit his lip as Bakura wrapped his hand around his arousal and stroking it lightly.
“How are you doing up there, baby?”
Ryou sucked in air through his teeth. “Doing okay,” he said with a smile.
Bakura kissed further down and gave Ryou a little kiss on the tip of his arousal. “At least here we can't be seen by those reporters outside our windows. For all they know, we're asleep.”
“I think I'd rather do this in here anyway. At least Marik and Malik can't walk in and ask where you hid the remote.”
Bakura snickered. “He just needs an excuse to come in and watch our mating rituals.”
Ryou laughed and shook his head. “Mating rituals…”
“Well, I could have been more crass about it, but I decided that I'd rather make you laugh instead.”
“You succeeded.”
Bakura grinned and swallowed around Ryou's arousal. Ryou gripped the pillow above his head as his yami's moist warmth engulfed him completely. “Bakura…..”
The yami drew back slowly only to bring Ryou in again and suck on it lightly.
Ryou whimpered and reached down with one hand to pet Bakura's hair. Bakura pulled back on Ryou's arousal and grinned down at him. The yami kept touching and rubbing his lover with a smile. “Can you check that drawer for anything that will make this easy?”
The hikari reached into the table drawer by the bed and picked out a blue bottle. “This looks like it still works.”
Ryou squeezed some of the lube on his hand. “It still works. This isn't the edible stuff, though.”
Bakura pouted. “Aww….no Plan B.”
“What did you want for Plan B?”
Bakura grinned. “I don't know anything about a Plan B.”
Ryou raised an eyebrow. “Why don't I believe you? Hold out your hand.”
Bakura held out his hand as Ryou squeezed some of the liquid onto his hand. Bakura wrapped his hand around his own arousal and moaned. Ryou sat up and coated two of his own fingers with the slippery lube. Bakura leaned in to kiss Ryou hungrily. The hikari let out a little whimper and tensed as he slipped two fingers into himself. The yami moaned and slipped his tongue between Ryou's lips, kissing him deeply.
Ryou slowly thrust against his own fingers as he kissed his yami deeply.
Bakura kissed Ryou's neck again and nibbled it, grinding himself against Ryou's own hard arousal.
The hikari kissed his yami's ear and removed his fingers from himself. Bakura took himself in his hand and slowly guided himself into Ryou, making the hikari moan loudly.
“It's been way too long since we've done this at all…..let alone our soulroom,” Bakura winced as he felt Ryou's body closing tightly around him.
Ryou nodded as he held his yami close and his body adjusted. “I agree.”
The yami wrapped his arms around his Light and held him still. “You okay, Ry? I'm not hurting you, am I?”
“Not more than would be expected,” Ryou said, wincing.
Bakura pet Ryou's long, white hair and looked into his Light's sparkling brown eyes. “This place is really heating up, isn't it?”
Ryou nodded. “Once we get our rooms cleaned up, they'll be as good as new.”
“It's hard to make a jail cell look new.”
Ryou smiled. “We'll make it look more…..like home.”
“Just don't put flowers in it and a teddy bear. That ruins the whole atmosphere. I'll take care of my space, Ry. You don't have to worry about it. I'm not going to put up hanging corpses or chains….unless, of course, we want to experiment.”
“We've done that before, you know.”
“That was back in the old days, though, Ryou. I'll take good care of my place.”
Ryou nodded and kissed Bakura again. “I know you'll do a great job.”
Bakura moaned into the kiss as he buried himself completely inside his other half, his body trembling with desire for Ryou. He withdrew from Ryou slightly, only to slip inside of him again deeper.
“Bakura….yes…..that's it.”
Bakura licked Ryou's lips provocatively and smiled. “Just relax, Ryou. Lay back and relax.”
Ryou laid himself back against the pillows as Bakura lifted his hips and slipped himself under Ryou. He let his hands rise and entwined his fingers with Ryou's. The yami breathed heavily as he thrust himself deeply into Ryou, making the Light's body spasm with each hard thrust. Bakura's nibbles returned to Ryou's neck as he increased his speed and movements.
Ryou closed his eyes and moaned as Bakura pinned him against the pillows. His legs hung limp on either side of Bakura as the yami pounded him hard. Bakura's nibbles were not hard enough to break the skin, but were nevertheless a sign of domination and desire. Ryou's arousal trickled with pre-cum as Bakura's hips moved faster, hitting Ryou's prostate on contact.
The yami breathed heavy and let out a little growl as he felt Ryou's arousal become damp against him.
“Ryou……come for me, baby…..please…..”
Ryou arched his back as Bakura slammed into him harder. “Don't stop, Bakura….”
“Come for me, Ry…..”
Bakura wrapped his arms around Ryou and held him close. He slammed into Ryou with a series of hard thrusts. Ryou wrapped his arms around Bakura and arched his back forward. Bakura moaned as he felt Ryou release against him.
“A little more, baby,” Bakura strained to say as he continued moving within his lover.
Ryou grit his teeth and tensed, releasing the last of his desire against Bakura.
Bakura possessed Ryou's lips in a hungry kiss as he tensed. Ryou's eyes opened as he felt his yami release a little more than usual. The hikari grinded against Bakura, kissing Bakura's ear.
“That's it, baby….let it all go,” Ryou whispered in his ear.
The yami tensed as hard as he could and collapsed against his husband, panting heavily. Ryou held onto his yami, trembling and panting, as well. Neither one moved as their breathing started to become more regular.
Bakura looked up at Ryou without moving his head. “This is the best way to keep warm….slightly messy….but still…”
Ryou smiled down at Bakura and held him close. “At least we don't have those reporters watching us….or any Ishtars.”
“I'm inclined to agree.”
Bakura snuggled into Ryou's chest and sighed with a yawn. “I'm not moving.”
“Nobody said you had to, yami. Let's just……enjoy this.”
Ryou pet Bakura's hair as the yami listened to Ryou's heartbeat.

Marik inspected the dagger's blade and snarled at it when he burned his finger on the blood. `That's very strange. I've never seen yami blood do anything like this! Bakura and I don't smoke when we bleed. There's gotta be a reason for it.'
Marik scratched his hair as he looked at the blade. `The blade looks as if it is being corroded by the blood, even! What kind of blood is this that it can melt steel?'
Marik stood up and walked to the bathroom. He stuck the blade under cold water and the smoke stopped. The blade's metal was now jagged where the blood had eaten the steel. `I can't think of anything that would be able to do this. Maybe Yami is disintegrating or something. How else would his blood be hot enough to melt steel? I don't know. Itemri is a better thinker than myself. Maybe he can think this through.”
“Marik?”
Marik put the dagger on the bathroom sink and ran into his bedroom where Malik opened his eyes. “Tenshi! Malik, I'm here.”
“Where is Yami?”
“He's gone. But there are better questions to answer than where he is right now. How are you?”
“Headache, but okay otherwise.”
Marik nodded and brushed some of Malik's hair out of his face. “Do you need anything?”
Malik shifted over and pulled back the covers. “Get in here.”
Marik slipped under the covers and held onto Malik. Malik shifted close to him and yawned, resting his head on Marik's chest. The yami smiled and sighed contentedly.
****************************
Yami staggered up the stairs of the temple holding his stomach. The gaping wound on his stomach had finally slowed down the flow of blood. He winced as he looked up. The Castle of Dark Illusions was hovering nearby, sending darkness to cover the Badlands.
Yami narrowed his eyes as he saw someone walk past a window. `I thought that thing was deserted,' he thought.
The pharaoh staggered up the steps and fell to his knees and growled in pain. `I'll get Ryou for this….I'll make sure Anubis leads him through the land of the dead sooner than he thought!'
“My Master, you have been injured!” the Celtic Guardian said as he ran out of the temple.
“Help me inside.”
The strong elf picked the pharaoh off of his knees and helped him to the ornate throne. The pharaoh sat down and groaned.
“What happened to you, my pharaoh?”
“Ryou stabbed me.”
The elf narrowed his eyes. “He injured you on purpose, my king? That is not right!”
“I have a special plan for him, my Celtic Guardian. He won't get out of this unscathed.” Yami grinned. “I think it's time the world knew about Ryou Bakura's more…intimate affairs, don't you?” Yami grinned. “I think it's time I added more fuel to the fires underneath the Ishtar-Itemri household.”
