Title: Romantic Kisses
Author: Vapidbreath
Author Notes: It's a short little story about Joey (Jou) and Kaiba. Please review and check out my other stories.
A kiss was supposed to be romantic. It was supposed to be in the middle of the night, while you and your lover were staring at the stars and admiring the moon, wrapped up in each other arms. That's what Kaiba expected, that's what he'd wanted.
Joey didn't plan it out quite that way. He had sort of just jumped Kaiba. It had happened when Kaiba was walking to his car after school, attempting to head to work. Reaching his car he'd noticed a blond haired puppy leaning against it. Of course he had made a smart remark and asked what he wanted.
"I was wondering if you could give me a ride home." Kaiba was surprised to say the least. Why would the pup need a ride? It wasn't raining or storming and he usually walked home. Why didn't he ask his friend with the motorbike or someone else? Not his supposed rival.
Kaiba didn't ask for an explanation. Instead he opened the passenger door and waited for the Mutt to get in. The blond flashed him a grin and slid into the seat.
They didn't speak. They really didn't have much to talk about unless they were arguing with one another. This silence was strange for them. It wasn't everyday you drove your enemy home, so it was understandable that things would be awkward.
Finally, Joey spoke. Just a few words, directing Kaiba to his house. It took only a few short minutes for Kaiba to pull into his driveway and step out. Joey was about to open his door when the brunet did it for him. He gave him one of his best smiles as he moved so Kaiba could shut the door properly. Just as Kaiba was about to walk back to the driver's seat he grabbed his sleeve.
Kaiba was hesitant in turning to face the blond. He still was out of sorts. The blond just smiled again before standing on his tiptoes and pressing his lips to Kaiba's. It was clumsy and felt wrong, but then Joey tilted his head just right. The kiss became soft but firm and became more intense when Kaiba placed his hand behind Joey's neck, bringing their lips closer.
Kaiba parted his lips as Joey began to nibble on the lower one. He expected Joey's mouth to taste sweet. He thought a vanilla or sugary flavor would flood his mouth. It was almost bitter instead. Tasting like Ramón and mint. It was a weird sensation but Kaiba didn't stop the kiss.
When they broke apart the two stood there and looked anywhere but at each other. When Kaiba took the chance to look up he caught the blonde's eyes. He received another grin before the blond took off up his steps and into the aging house.
Kaiba found himself driving back home instead of work. There was no way he'd get anything done.
Joey's kiss really wasn't that romantic. It wasn't on a beach, while they were walking hand in hand, watching the waves splash on the shore. It was in a driveway, in front of a worn house. Joey's kiss wasn't like an exotic fruit. Yet, it was a taste Kaiba would never forget.
He was already looking forward to picking Joey up in the morning.
