//Graffiti decorations underneath a sky of dust

A constant wave of tension on top of broken trust//

He ran down the street, not caring where he was going. It didn't matter anymore. He was forever alone, he should have realized. The school jacket flew behind him like a cape, the empty spot in his heart being thrown back and forth between the two raging sides of his mind. Most of the people he passed by would have recognized him as the so-called "Game King", probably going off to another dual.

But that wasn't who he was.

That was his other side, the side that had left with those other heartless bastards. They were never really his friends. Everybody had always taken what they wanted and left, throwing him away for somebody else to use. He should have known never to trust, should have known that his thoughtless mouth would betray him and send everyone away. He was just reciting things that old man had been going on about, never really thinking for himself.

It was just a game. To other people his heart was just a game. They took advantage of him because he was weak, because he was small and full of kindness.

//The lessons that you taught me I learned were never true

Now I find myself in question [they point the finger at me again]//

Yugi threw open the door of the Turtle Game Shop, ignoring his grandfather's welcome home and racing through the back door to the house connected, up the stairs and into his room where he threw his backpack down and threw himself onto his bed, breaking down into sobs on his pillow. It just seemed that little over three hours ago in school his life had been perfect.........but nothing could remain perfect forever............

******************** FLASHBACK - three hours before - ********************

"Yugi, I can't believe you'd say such a thing like that!"

He was slapped across the face by Anzu, eyes growing wide as he realized what he'd just said about Jounouchi's dualing skills. He'd been hanging around Kaiba too much lately. Way too much that the taller youth was starting to rub off on him.

Jounouchi whirled around, his back on the boy with the multicoloured hair. "Just leave him, guys. He's obviously not who we thought he was."

Their voices held so much venom. So much disgust......

"Wh-what?" was the only thing he could whisper as a hand went up to his cheek.

The blonde's voice was loud. "Yami, I know you can hear me. We're going to the arcade. You wanna join us?" They began walking away as there was a flash from the millennium puzzle and the former pharaoh appeared next to the fallen child. Yami shot him a snarl before joining the group. Yugi watched them walk away as dark clouds began to roll about the sky and raindrops began to fall, lightly at first, but harder and faster.

The dark clouds could not compare to the pain and darkness that was trying to swallow his heart and soul whole.........

******************** END FLASHBACK ********************

//Guilty by association [you point the finger at me again]

Paper bags and angry voices under a sky of dust//

Yugi found himself hours later on the beach, letting the wind whip by and the rain fall down. His eyes were a dull, amethyst ache, allowing ones who walked past to see the pain inside. But nobody walked past. It was after hours and nobody was anywhere in sight. His feet lead him down the path and to the salt water. He didn't care if the water reached his sneakers. He didn't care about anything at the moment.

A flash of familiar pale-blonde hair caught his eye at least ten minutes after and he looked over his shoulder, noticing that the Egyptian teenager in the glow of the moonlight looked absolutely gorgeous. No wonder Bakura had loved him.........

A surprised look crossed Malik's face, replacing his usual depressed look. Ever since Bakura had left him for Otogi he was in an undeniable state of depression. And because of what Isis had told him earlier about the real cause of their father's death......... He hadn't expected to see the small boy down here, one would have thought him to be in bed by now. But then Malik remembered he was the same age as himself. He watched him turn his head away and walk further into the water, the small waves coming up to the top of his sneakers. He slowly approached the other item holder, unsure of what was going on.

"What are you doing here, Yugi? I thought nobody else came here but me." His voice was a soft whisper, not wanting to disturb the air about the teen.

//Another wave of tension has more than filled me up

All my talk of taking action, these words were never true//

Yugi couldn't help himself and burst into another wave of tears, latching onto Malik like he was a lifeline. Malik's violet eyes widened at the sudden burst of emotion, but hesitantly wrapped his arms around the smaller, burying his face in the rain-drenched hair. It was as soft as he had always imagined. He and Bakura had joked that anyone going in for a kiss from the small teen would get their eye poked out by one of the long, thick golden spikes.

Yugi felt Malik pull away from him and lead him away from the water, going over to one of the many benches that laced the edges of the grassy surroundings. He was sat down and a thumb and forefinger tilted his head up, forcing him to lock amethyst with violet. Malik's eyes were intense and Yugi felt him drowning in their seas of purple loneliness.

"Now what's the matter?" Malik whispered, a hand still placed on the other's shoulder, his other resting on Yugi's cheek. "It's not like you to be so alone."

Yugi sobbed his story out to the blonde, the violet eyes widening when he learned of what had happened just earlier today. He drew Yugi into a hug, running a hand through the drenched multicoloured locks. They stayed like that for what seemed like forever before Yugi broke the silence.

"Malik?"

"Mmhmm?"

"Have you ever wondered............what it feels like to die?"

He wrapped his arms tightly around the boy, sighing as he asked himself the question within. "Many times. I constantly asked myself that question when Bakura broke up with me and just now I feel like I want to rot away here because of what Isis told me."

"What did Isis tell you?" At least his tears weren't soaking Malik's shirt anymore. He gave him a bitter smile.

"She told me it wasn't Yami who killed my father......it was my own. Risido was enough to allow me control over him before I could do worse."

Yugi laid his head on Malik's chest, tired from crying. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be. It's not your fault. I should be sorry for the way I treated you. You're......you're just an innocent, sweet child pushed into this game of darkness." 'And I want you so badly......' "I've found something that will make my life worth living."

"Like what?"

"You." He pressed his lips softly against the smaller teen's. Yugi's eyes flew open slightly, then closed, allowing Malik's tongue to slip into his mouth and explore the crevaces.

//I wanna run away, never say goodbye

I wanna know the truth, instead of wondering why//

The new term had begun, the skies bright and cheerful as they had been amazingly enough over what should have been the coldest winter ever in Domino.

Anzu met her friends at their lockers, giving Mai a smile before noticing a small teen in the corridor talking to a gorgeous tanned boy. She felt a wave of sadness enter her heart. Jounouchi made his normal silly comment of the term and the group laughed, even Bakura who was currently in charge of Ryou's body, his arm wrapped around Otogi's waist. She felt her eyes travell over to the two boys again as they began walking up to the classroom, the taller's arm wrapped around the smaller's shoulders.

She suddenly realized who they were and her eyes widened.

Malik smirked down at his little lover who had his head pressed against the side of his chest, eyes closed in contentment and letting him lead them to class. He stopped near the group and nudged him out of his peacefulness. Yugi's eyes slowly opened, shining with more happiness than they had before the accident.

The Egyptian grabbed him and kissed him before whispering something in his ear and wandering off to his seperate class. Yugi stood there with a dazed look in his eyes before noticing the group was staring. He sent them a glare before stalking through the door.

It was obvious he would never forgive them.
