Yana: I'm back again!

Bakura: So is there going to be anymore crying. I think we're up to 3 feet now! *evil laugh*

Yana: Oh shut up Bakura! I had to. I'm really NOT that emotional!

Bakura: Of course you aren't. *sarcastically*

Seto: Leave Yana alone! *hugs Yana*

Bakura: You're lucky you have Seto or you'd be dead by now!

Fire: Come on now Bakura. You don't mean that. Do you? *kisses Bakura*

Bakura: *blushes* I take it back!

Fire: That's a good boy!

Bakura: But only for a price! *pulls fire out of the room*

Seto: That gives me an idea! *pulls Yana out of the room*

Yugi: I guess it's just you and me, Yami.

Yami: Guess so. Anyway…..have fun reading!

Chapter 3- Betrayal

Yana arrived home, only to find what she feared. Yami was gone!

"Yami! Yami are you here?!" Yana called to him but there was no answer.

{It has begun! Darkness will cover the world once again!}

"Yes, it has begun. All thanks to you, The Queen of Shadow!" Merik was standing in the doorway.

"You bastard! You will never win!"

Oh but I already have" Merik lifted his arm. Suddenly Seto, Yami, and Yugi appeared. They were chained up and look half dead.

"No Yugi, Seto, Yami!" Yana ran to them. She reached out to touch Yugi's battered face. But instead of helping him she made it worse. The spot where her hand had touched his cheek began to bleed.

{WHAT!}

"Like I said before, you did this to them!" Merik laughed as a tear ran down Yana's cheek.

"No it's not true! I love Yugi. I would never hurt him! NEVER!" A sword lay near Yana. She picked it up and thrusted it at Merik. But instead of hitting Merik, it hit Yugi!

"NO YUGI!!!!"

"YUGI!!" Yana awoke and found herself in Seto's bed.

"Yana, are you ok?!" Seto also awoke to Yana's screaming.

"I'm ok I just had a horrible nightmare!" Yana lay back down next to Seto.

{It was only a dream.}

"It's alright now. I'm here." Seto wrapped his arm around Yana's waist and kissed her forehead. Soon Yana fell asleep in Seto's arms.

The next morning, when Yana awoke, she checked on Yugi. He looked much better than he did yesterday, but Yana was still a little concerned.

"Yana, is that you?" Yugi was conscious but he barely had the strength to speak.

"Yes Yugi, it's me. I'm here." Yana grabbed Yugi's hand in hers, squeezing it tight.

"Where am I?"

"You're at Seto's house. You'll be safe here, now rest. You need to regain your strength" Yana looked into Yugi's misty purple eyes that began to slowly close.

"Sleep soundly, Yugi" Yana left the room when she knew Yugi was sound asleep.

"How is he?" Seto was sitting on the couch, in the study, drinking freshly made coffee.

"He was awake for a minute but then he fell back asleep." Seto handed Yana a mug as she sat down beside him.

"That's a good sign. He must be recovering." Seto put his hand on Yana's knee, trying to comfort her.

"You're right. He's fine. That's my strong little brother."

"Yana!" Yugi awoke and to his horror his puzzle was gone.

"Yugi, what's wrong?!" Yana rushed into the room, her face flushed with worry. She stood at the side of the bed, looking at Yugi.

"My puzzle! Where's my puzzle?!" Yugi looked petrified as if he had seen a ghost.

"Yugi…….Merik……….he……& #8230;he………he took your puzzle" Yana looked into Yugi's eyes, only to see rage and anger.

"HE WHAT?! HOW COULD YOU HAVE LET THIS HAPPEN?!" Yugi began to scream violently at Yana.

"Yugi……I…..I …..I tried but…." Yugi cut her off.

"BUT NOTHING! IT'S YOUR FAULT MERIK STOLE MY PUZZLE! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! NOW I WILL NEVER SEE YAMI AGAIN! I WISH YOU WERE NEVER MY SISTER! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU!" Yugi hit Yana hard, so hard that her cheek became red.

{Yugi! What's wrong with you? Why are you doing this?)

"GET OUT! GET OUT, BITCH!"

Yana left the room and closed the door. As she did, she leaned against it and slowly slipped down. She pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Resting her face in her arms and crying until her eyes ran dry.

{Why Yugi, why do you hate me so?}

Seto rushed to Yugi's room to see Yana on the floor, crying.

"Yana, what's wrong? What happened?" Seto lifted her head to see her, now, black and blue cheek.

"It was Yugi. He got mad that I lost the puzzle and he slapped me." As Seto gazed into Yana's hazy purple eyes, he saw something he never thought he could see in his lover's eyes. Her eyes were bleak and her spirit was broken. Yana was shattered and was slowly dying inside.

"Oh Yana, my love, it's alright. I'm here. I'm here." Seto grabbed Yana and held her tight, never wanting to let her go.

"You have to find the puzzle Seto. Merik cannot cover the world in darkness. Stop him Seto." Yana fainted in Seto's arms; she couldn't stand the sadness anymore. Seto lifted her up and laid her on his bed.

/Sleep well my love. /

Later that night, Seto decide to look for Merik. He searched all over town, then when things looked bleak, he found him.

"You're going to pay for hurting Yugi and Yana!" Seto's stern blue eyes became filled with anger.

"Why don't you join me, Seto? We could dominate the world and Yana can be yours without any distractions." Merik stretched out his rod and it began to glow.

"What the hell?!" The golden light stunned Seto and knocked him out cold.

"Perfect! Now no one can stop me! But there's still one more thing to do." Merik waved his rod and disappeared into the darkness, bring Seto with him.

"Seto?! Where are you Seto?!" Yana awoke to the dawn's first light, in Seto's bed. However, Seto was no where to be seen. Yana began to worry.

{Where could he have gone? What if something bad happened to him?!}

Yana quickly got up and called Bakura, Ryou, Tristan, and Joey.

Soon after she called, they showed up. All of them had confused looks on there face after hearing the story Yana told them about Yugi.

"It makes no sense why would he hit Yana?" Joey was talking to Tristan, who was completely dumbfounded that Yugi would hit his own sister.

"Don't worry Yana. Everything will be fine I the end. Just you watch!" Ryou was sitting on the couch, holding Yana, trying to comfort her. Bakura was concentrating, trying to sense Seto's presence somewhere. However, he could sense nothing.

"Yana, would it be ok if we spent the night here with you?" Bakura looked at the girl; he could see the fear and sadness in her bleak eyes.

"Sure. You can use the two spare rooms down the hall from Seto's room." Yana felt a little better knowing that someone would be here to comfort her.

"Well I think I'll get to bed!" Joey yawned as he and Tristan walked to their room.

"I think I'll call it a night too." Ryou sleepily walked to his room. Bakura stayed with Yana.

"Do you think you'll be alright or do you need someone?" Bakura didn't want Yana to be alone, but he felt it awkward if he slept in the same bed as her.

"Please stay with me Bakura! I'm so afraid!" Yana wrapped her arms around Bakura and looked up into his eyes. Bakura couldn't help but say yes to Yana's hazy puppy dog eyes.

"I won't leave, Yana. I'll stay with you" Bakura and Yana went to Seto's room and slipped between the silky covers. Bakura was wondering if he should stay to one side of the bed or lay up against Yana. But before he could decide he fell fast asleep and so did Yana.

"So she thought Bakura could protect her. Well she's very mistaken!" Merik stood at the edge of Seto's bed looking at the helpless sleeping Yana.

"Once I have her, my mission will be complete!" Merik lift Yana up and vanished into the night with Yana sleeping in his arms.

The next morning when Bakura awoke, he was startled to find out that Yana was kidnapped. It didn't take him long to wake the others and inform them of what happened. He felt so guilty and so weak. How could he have let the enemy get to Yana when he was right there!

Yugi also awoke by Bakura's commotion. He over heard everything he said and finally realized what he had done.

[I let Merik win! I let Merik take Yana! Oh Yana…..what have I done!?]

Seto: I still can't believe Yugi hit Yana! *holds Yana in his arms* My poor Yana!

Yami: Neither can I!

Everyone (except Yugi): WHAT WAS WRONG WITH YOU!

Yugi: Hey it wasn't my fault! I didn't write this fic! BLAME FIRE!

Fire: Hey! I was just doing my job. It's a cruel world in the world of fanfics!

Yugi: Yeah right! *starts arguing with Fire*
