Sunshine poured through the opens windows of the condo and the singing of birds could be heard faintly, which roused Jodi from her peaceful slumber.

 

Opening her eyes wearily she glanced around the lightened room, vaguely aware that she was in the living room and not her bedroom as she tried to stretch but stopped as it was brought to her attention that something was on top of her. Glancing slightly up she realized that Joey was still on her, snoring quietly.

A few minutes later once she had her jacket and shoes on and was holding some documents, she turned back to Joey.

 

“Alright well I have to go to work now but it'll only be till after one to two o'clock and then I'll be back. You can watch T.V. or do anything you like while I'm gone”.

 

“No problem there miss. Have fun at work and I'll be able to have fun here” he said as he moved up to her and kissed her on the cheek gently, causing the girl to grow hot again.

When the light settled down he knew she had changed form before even looking down at her. And even though it was still fairly dark, he could see the outline of the large, magnificent butterfly shaped wings. He couldn't see their colour that well but gold sparkles were slowly wafting off of them and landing on the couch, making it glow softly.

 

Her hair and rest of her body remained the same though her skin was much softer and a lot more smooth, like fine silk. So were her wings as he gently ran his fingers along them, his tail wagging immediately at the cool touch, as cool as water. They seemed very delicate yet the membrane looked strong too.

 

Just laying on top of Jodi in her true form felt so relaxing that he slowly started to lull back into a sleep so peaceful he thought he would never want to leave him. And the last thing he remembered before dozing off was her wings gently folding themselves around his lean yet strong frame.

 

The dog hybrid sighed and rolled over onto his back, still reminiscing of actually touching the girl in her true form. He knew that she would probably bring up the subject of her true identity a few days later perhaps yet however he himself wanted to talk to her when she returned from the restaurant. For it wasn't only her identity that he wanted to discuss with her about... it was also her true motive of buying him and he knew very well what it was.

Jodi sighed as she sat behind her lavish oak desk, resting her face upon her palm and looking through some new ideas for meals and remodelling to the restaurant but honestly she wasn't that interested.

 

Her mind was wandering to various things. When to show her true identity to Joey and when to get him to freedom... when to get his sister Serenity from Hot Furries N' Scales... how to get her free without being caught... where to find the dragon hybrid that was supposedly still in the city... the losing of her virginity and the wondrous sex she had with Joey the previous night... whether or not he had actually seen her true form while she was asleep...

 

“This is driving me mad” she muttered as she placed her documents back down to think over the problems that would not leave her be.

 

She had kept her eyes alert and scanning the streets as she drove down to her restaurant, keeping alert for any signs of the dragon hybrid. She used some of her magic to increase her hearing to listen into anybody's conversation as her vehicle passed by troves of humans talking to one another, but so far there was no mention of the hybrid.

 

This made the fairy relaxed yet worried all the same. The High Council didn't give her much information on which dragon hybrid was captured, let alone that he had a sibling which was the young black sheep hybrid named Mokuba back at the hybrid sex store. But she knew by the grave looks upon her superiors faces that this dragon hybrid was very important... maybe even the ruler of all dragon hybrids...

 

She wished she had asked Takuya for the hybrid's name but it would have mattered not. No one knows of the ruler of dragon hybrids true name. Well there was one or two fairies who did know but they were forbidden to speak of it under the hybrid laws for in a way, the leader of the dragon hybrids actually ruled all hybrids so unless he gave the command that others may know his name, no one dare spoke it.

 

But the fairy was hoping that this hybrid was just... well an important dragon hybrid but not as important as a ruler, for if he was, then problems would surely arise, especially for the humans.

 

Jodi sighed again and pushed the problem from her mine, forcing herself to rest assured that she will fine him soon enough. Well I better... the sooner I find him the sooner the rage of the other dragon hybrids are quelled she thought to herself.

 

The other problems, such as when to get Serenity and when to tell Joey of her true identity were quite easy. The fairy decided to at least wait after a week, when either Takuya or Al called to see how she's doing with Joey before getting the squirrel hybrid and she planned to tell her identity to Joey before then. As for when to free them, she decided it might do better, though may be harder, to free them both at the same time

 

She was still slightly worried if Joey had found out about her true identity but seeing that he made no comment during the morning and knowing that most hybrids would ask questions when they found out she was a fairy reassured her that so far, the dog hybrid knew nothing.

 

Sighing happily, finding herself less tense, her mind wandered to the first bonding she ever had. Normally most fairies chose to remain virgins and those who didn't would usually find their soul mates amongst other fairies or elves. It wasn't against their laws that fairies could fall in love with another species of hybrid, but it was rather unlikely to happen.

 

Jodi wasn't sure if she loved Joey or not, but there was something about him that made her heart flutter faster now, even if she only knew him for a day. She couldn't put her finger on it but there was something about the blond haired dog hybrid that attracted her so much she felt she would die if she didn't know why.

 

Am I love with him? Jodi wasn't sure. Perhaps on the bordering line of like and love, but not really true love. It would be true love if the dog hybrid returned the feelings but she doubted he would. He has been a slave to giving out sex for so long that loving someone else, someone who wasn't his sister, was probably never going to happen.

 

Though it might once he is free, she thought to herself, giving her heart more hope that in a way, this may happen. But for now she must stick to her mission for after he was free with his sister, she couldn't follow him live a lovesick puppy... at least not until she got more hybrids free.

 

She sighed pushed a few of her strawberry blond bangs from her face and glanced at the digital clock on her desk, the time showing a quarter past two.

 

“Oops! I stayed a little longer than I told Joey I would” she muttered as she got up and put away the majority of the folders upon her desk and placed them back inside the drawers of the oak desk, locking them with a small silver key before tossing it into her purse.

 

She then left the restaurant, saying goodbye to some of her employees, before heading over to her black jaguar and starting up the vehicle, making her way back to her condo.

 

The trip back Jodi wasn't really paying attention to anything except to getting back home where Joey was. It was only when she had two blocks to go that she checked the streets to see if she could spot any sign of a dragon hybrid. Finding none she parked in her usual space and headed up to her floor.

 

Soon she was back inside her condo and locked the door behind her and when she turned, she was happy to see Joey was waiting for her, standing and leaning against a lounge chair, looking more attractive then ever.

 

“Had a good day?” he asked.

 

“Oh yes. There wasn't actually much to do today except to look over a few new plans for the restaurant. Sorry I was a little late though, I kind of lost track of time” Jodi apologized as she set her purse down on a table in the room.

 

“That's alright. You have a busy job, its understandable”. Jodi inwardly felt warmed by his words. He seemed so kind and considerate that it made her heart pound for him more.

 

“Did you have lunch yet?”

 

“Yeah I have. I made myself a sandwich though I hope you don't mind me going through your fridge”.

 

“Oh no no! Not at all! Help yourself anytime!” she reassured the dog hybrid, smiling to which he returned.

 

“Ok, that's good. Now there's something else”.

 

“Yes, what is it?”

 

“Jodi... I know what ya really are”.

 

Jodi froze, staring into Joey's brown eyes with her own blue green ones, turning over his statement in her mind. Does he know? she thought to herself, feeling tense.

 

“Know that I'm what Joey?” she then asked, thinking that maybe he was hopefully referring to something else.

 

“I know that you're a fairy” was the response.

 

Jodi closed her eyes for a moment but then opened them again, sighing. She realized there was really no point keeping the truth away any longer, and by the way Joey stated he knew what she was, he wasn't really scared to suspicious by it.

 

“Yes, I am a fairy. How did you know? Did you see me transform last night?”

 

“Yes, I did. But I already knew when ya visited the cage I was staying in yesterday. I have not smelled fairies for a long time, only once I did and your scent was pretty much the same. The other knew you were a fairy as well but decided not to act upon it to let Takuya know”.

 

The fairy paused at the comment, startled that he and the other hybrids already knew she was a fairy when she went to the store. She finally guessed that the spell she used to mask her true scent had ran out of power and when she thought she reactivated it, she didn't. She only reactivated it this morning in the car on the way to her restaurant.

 

“Oh well... I guess I forgot to mask my scent. But yeah, I am a fairy but I use this human identity as a disguise”.

 

“I figured as much. And I guess your real name isn't Jodi huh?”

 

“No, it isn't. Well, technically is it when I'm in this human form and I've gotten use to everyone calling me it. So when I'm like this, you can still call me Jodi if you like. But when I'm a true fairy again, my real name is Jyde” she explained. Joey nodded thoughtfully, his tail swaying behind him.

 

“Ok. Now I'm taking a wild guess here but I'm presuming ya got me out of Hot Furries N' Scales to free me, right?” Jodi was somewhat surprised that the dog hybrid figured out this much on his own but she supposed that it wasn't too hard to think over and at least it'd be easier for her to explain things.

 

“Yes that's correct. Sorry I didn't tell you my real identity earlier but I wasn't sure how you would act. Some other hybrids I rescued either got too excited or freaked out when they knew who I really was, so I usually waited a few days before declaring myself for who I was”.

 

“That's alright, I can understand how something as serious as this is” Joey said, looking around for a few moments before returning his gaze to Jodi. “So... when are ya... setting me free?”

 

“Well as soon as possible, but probably after one of the two owners give me a call first and I'll make sure to let them know I won't be needing anymore help so that they don't call again. So probably I'll try to get you out after this week is done and the phone call has been made”.

 

Jodi watched the dog hybrid intently after finishing her talk, observing him carefully. He didn't seem really happy, more like... sad and disappointed. She suspected it was for the fact he probably wanted to get back to the hybrid wilderness sooner.

 

“I'm sorry I can't get out you out faster cause I have to take the precautions so you don't get cau-” she started but was cut off by him.

 

“No”.

 

“I beg your pardon?”

 

“No, I don't want to go”.

 

Jodi stared at him, puzzled and somewhat shocked as to why he didn't want to go. Most hybrids would jump at the chance to go back to the homes they know, but why not him?

 

“Is there a reason you don't want to be set free?” she asked, hoping he would tell.

 

“First of all, if I wanted to be set free I wouldn't go without Serenity”.

 

Jodi sighed somewhat in relief. She understood now why he didn't want to go. Its obvious he wanted to make sure his sister was with him.

 

“Oh don't worry, I was planning to get your sister out before I was going to set you free. So it'll all be settled, you'll both get to be free together”.

 

She expected him to be more pleased with this reassurance that he'd be able to go with his sister, however he still looked sad and disappointed.

 

“What's wrong? Is there anything else that's bothering you?”

 

Joey sighed and looked away again from Jodi, his ears dropping slightly and his hands curled into loose fists. When he spoke his voice seemed to have a cold tone to it.

 

“I don't want to be set free”.

 

Jodi gaped slightly, not believing what she was hearing. How could a hybrid being in the captivity of humans for so long not want to be free? It just didn't make any sense.

 

“How do you not want to be free? You don't really want to be someone's pet for the rest of your life, do you?” the fairy demanded. Again Joey did not turn to look at her for a moment, his eyes gazing out the window that was past the kitchen, watching as birds flittered past. He then looked back at Jodi.

 

“What if I wanted to be a pet?”

 

At this response Jodi gaped some more, totally appalled at the statement the dog hybrid now made, almost to the point thinking that he was an idiot to want to stay as a pet.

 

“That goes against the point of me rescuing you!”

 

“Exactly. I don't want to be rescued. I'm happy being who I am and doing what I do best”.

 

“You mean you're happy being a slave to humans?!” she demanded angrily

 

“It's not really slavery Jodi. To maybe some hybrids it is, but to me I don't really mind and it doesn't seem like slavery. My mom and dad were actually sex hybrids too and me and Serenity were born into a hybrid sex store, but not Hot Furries N' Scales mind you, but a different one and a lot worse that place was. My parents explained to me and my younger sister about how humans liked to rule over others and have a firm grip upon things and weren't exactly kind, more on the lines of cruel-”

 

“Then that's why I'm helping to set you free!” Jodi cut across him but Joey raised a paw to tell her to be quiet so he could finish.

 

“But they also said that not ALL humans are cruel and mean and are considerate to us hybrids but sometimes are too frightened by their own kind to do anything sometimes. So anyway myself and my younger sister observed how some humans treated our parents, whether kindly or harshly. Anyway, just like you, my parents wanted myself and Serenity to be free so at the first chance they got they escaped with us, taking us to freedom. However by the time we reached the closest forest, they were both killed and we would have been killed too if it weren't for some human police officers that saved us”.

 

He paused for a moment, as if reminiscing his parents death before looking at Jodi again and continued his story, the fairy listening to what he had to say.

 

“They had shut down the other sex store and put the owners, the ones who shot our parents, in jail for a life sentence I believe. One of the officers, who was very kind, asked me and my sister where we wanted to go. We were still young back then and couldn't be sent into back into hybrid civilization for one, most hybrids who lived in the wild weren't too fond of some of their kind who stayed with humans and two, since we were born into human civilization we had to stay within human civilization”.

 

“Well that's a stupid rule” Jodi retorted, crossing her arms. Joey sighed, shaking his head.

 

“Ya may think so and I know other hybrids would too, but those are human rules, different to the rules of our kind. Besides they had a point, me and Serenity might get ourselves killed by our own kind if we returned to our proper civilization. So then da officer asked us where we would like to stay. Maybe with some truly genuine nice humans, or maybe a hybrid pet store and a number of other good places that would have treat us well. However me and Serenity said we would like to go to another hybrid sex store”.

 

“WHAT?!” Jodi yelled out, completely horrified by this piece of news.

 

“Ya know, the officer reacted almost da same way but I told him being in a sex store, even though myself and my sister didn't have intercourse with anyone yet, was da only thing we knew. Them officers asked us about a dozen times if we were sure and we stated we were, they relented and brought us to Hot Furries N' Scales, which seemed a lot nicer and brighter than the other store. Also Al was very friendly to us and treated us well. So did Takuya but mind you, everyone didn't like him but he did abide by the laws. The officers seemed satisfied with the place and left us there and when we became of age, Al and Takuya taught us da ropes on giving out sexual pleasure”.

 

“But still, they're using you Joey! The humans are using everyone in that store for their own personal benefit and its not right!” Jodi protested.

 

“I understand you feel that way and some of the hybrids back at the store felt that way too. Especially Seto who hates humans, but even that is putting it lightly. I think he'd want them all dead, probably kill them all himself if he had the chance. But I don't hate humans. I don't like the ones who are really cruel and all, naturally, but most of the people who just look at me or rent me are really friendly to me. Honestly, I'm happy with what I do for a job, which is just giving sex to people”.

 

“Oh so you're saying I was part of your job then?! Just someone you can screw so you know you've done your job?!” Jodi demanded, tears welling in her eyes. At this Joey looked at her with the first confused look he has during the whole conversation.

 

“What do ya mean?”

 

“Never mind! But this is my mission Joey! I have to rescue hybrids!”

 

“Well then rescue the ones who want to be rescued! I'm not saying that hybrids should be locked up and work for humans if they don't want it! By all means help them and set them free! But I'm telling ya, I don't want freedom. I'm happy with what I do”.

 

“But Joey, I want to fre-”

 

“Don't make me repeat myself. I don't need or want any freedom” he stated firmly and coldly, causing Jodi to shiver just at the sound of his voice as she also watched as his ears layed back flat on his head and he bared his teeth warningly.

 

“Fine then! Stay as a sex slave for all I care!” she cried out, tears pouring down her face as she ran from the room and headed to her own, slamming the door behind her.

For at least over an hour Jodi stayed shut in her room, crying her eyes out and feeling totally miserable and sad. She finally moved to the large balcony that was connected to her room by a sliding door and spent the rest of the time there, resting against the polished white wooden frame, thinking over what the blond dog hybrid had said to her.

 

In truth she was furious at him, wishing he'd seen her point that being free was better then being some human's slave. She thought he was an idiot and needed to be slapped around a few times to understand what she was trying to do. Hell she even felt like throwing some authority over him, reminding him that she's a fairy and he's only a dog hybrid and that he should obey her.

 

But she knew that was wrong. She knew she'd be acting as a selfish human if she did that. And she knew in a way, by how she was acting, that Joey probably thought she was acting as a human too.

 

She hated to admit it but Joey made a good few points. If he truly wanted freedom he would have asked for her help or at least have try to get away from the humans sooner than now. Maybe she thought he should be free, but shouldn't it be freedom of choice to decide whether he wanted it or not? And even though Jodi wished she couldn't make it so, he did have the choice and she can't force someone to accept something they don't want. No one can.

 

The thing that had probably hurt her the most however was not that he didn't want her help to free him, even though that was a good enough blow already, but how he stated so casually that he just gives sex to people as part of his job. It made Jodi feel as if she was one of his customers, that he had no other care for her except for maybe giving her sex... or to just give himself sex most likely.

 

It tore at her heart to realize this. Her feelings for him after the argument seemed to have greatly increased. She felt like she was almost in love with him and he had no knowledge of it. Then again, she didn't really let him know how she felt...

 

“Jodi?” came his voice from behind her, causing the fairy to jerk slightly, glancing behind her to see him close the sliding door behind him to her room, his eyes trained on her with a look of slight worry. The fairy realized that she was so deep in thought that if she was paying attention she would have sensed him coming.

 

“Go away” she spat bitterly, turning her head back to gazing at the lush trees below.

 

“No, I won't” he said calmly as he wrapped his arms around her from behind, pulling her to his strong body. “After all, seeing as you aren't a human, I don't have to listen to you, now do I?”

 

She struggled and tried to pull free but he was much stronger than her, holding her firmly to him as if she was a squirming puppy.

 

“Let me go!”

 

“No, not until ya hear out what I have to say” he stated firmly. Sighing in defeat she remained limp in his arms.

 

“Good girl. Now I want to apologize for the way I was acting earlier. It just felt that you were shoving something down my throat... something I didn't want... at least not now”.

 

At this comment Jodi looked up into Joey's eyes, a glimmer of confusement and hope showing through her, causing the dog hybrid to smile and hug her closer.

 

“Ya see... just right now... freedom for me would do nothing... its not I want... but I feel, maybe later... I'll want it... but you see... before we make this decision to get me out of here, I'd want to bring Serenity with me. If she wants freedom then I'll go with her so we can spend it together. I'm not saying I'm a follower, its just that Serenity is like the world to me and where she goes, I'd want to go with her”.

 

Jodi smiled and nodded in understanding yet felt sad again and looked down, sighing heavily. So I guess its only Serenity that makes his world go around, she thought to herself.

 

“Also”, Joey added while stroking Jodi's hand with his paw like hand, causing the fairy to blush, “I think I know what ya were trying to say back there when ya thought ya were only being used for my job... no Jodi... ya aren't being used for that... I think I know how ya feel... I do like ya Jodi. I like ya a lot. Not love, but like. I know what ya really want but I can't give it to ya, at least not yet. I don't know ya that well first of all as ya don't know me that well and there are other things that I must think over and do first... but I will let ya know, soon enough” he promised, nuzzling the top of her strawberry blond haired head, causing her to giggle and turn around to face the dog hybrid, smiling serenely.

 

“Well then Joey, I accept your apology” she stated, causing him to smiled and kiss her on the cheek, causing her to blush more.

 

“Good. Now there's one more thing... I'd like to see the real you”.

 

Jodi paused for a moment, registering what he said and then shrugged. There was nothing wrong with showing him her true form and she guessed he didn't really get much of a chance to see her the night before.

 

“Ok then, I will. Lets go inside” she said and started to make her way to the sliding door to her room when Joey grabbed her by the arm, stopping her.
