Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Shattered Dreams ❯ Prologue
Akari: `Tis a new story lads and lassies! Yes, yes we know, we have three other ones to finish, but we're stuck on `Loneliness of the Tigress' and this story has been milling around in our heads for about a year now. Don't worry, `Sukunai Hane' and `The snow white tiger and the poor robin' will be updated as regularly as we can get `em up.
Kurai: School work is quite difficult and takes much of our time...or should I say mine? *looks at a sweating Akari* If I had a little help it might go a little bit faster. We get homework from Mr. Kielbasa (Math) everyday and even homework for over the weekend. It takes much of my time now a days.
Akari: eh-he...umm...I hope you like this story, and thank you to everyone who has read/ reviewed all of our other stories. Thank you very much!
Kurai: Please enjoy our new fic.
Disclaimer: Akari: Ahem...We do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! Kurai: Nor will we ever. Akari: Unless they come up with a time machine that works then we can go back in time and claim the idea as ours. Kurai: But that won't be happening in the near future, now will it? Akari: *shakes head* Nope!!
Warnings: This is an Anzu fic. We don't like Tea at all. Anzu all the way!!! *thumbs up* `Tis not an Anzu-bashing fic, but it is an angsty on. `Tis a pattern `eh? All of our fics seem to slide that way....Oh well!! Yugi and the gang (minus Anzu) won't be the same as in the series (duh!) and Malik's name will be Malik. Yami Marik is his dark, as Yami Bakura is Ryou's.
//Yami to Yugi// /Yugi to Yami/
\\Bakura to Ryou\\ \Ryou to Bakura\
--Marik to Malik-- -Malik to Marik-

*~ Dream Sequence~*
She was running. Fear paralyzed her voice and her tears almost blinded her. She didn't know where she was, but it was dark, and there was barely any light by which to guide her. When she realized that her running was useless and was getting her nowhere, she sank to her knees, chestnut colored brown hair falling over her azure blue eyes which were red and slightly puffy from crying so much. It was useless to run away in this dark void of nothingness. You see, that was the reason she had been running and crying. To try and get away from this stifling nothingness. That was her greatest fear. Nothingness. Complete and utter nothingness. As she knelt down on the `ground', a taller girl stepped up to her, looking disgusted. The new girl had black lifeless eyes and chestnut brown hair, the exact color as the trembling girl she was glaring at. The girl looked exactly like the smaller girl, save the eyes, and the obvious look of hate in them. She sneered at the girl and grabbed her by the hair and yanked her head up hard.
"Get up right now. You disgust me, she said shaking the girls head violently. "You disgust everyone. No wonder you have no friends," she laughed cruelly. "No one likes you. They all hate you. Even your own family hates you. When you wake up screaming every night where are your parents at to comfort you and tell you that it was just a nightmare and that everything will be alright?" she questioned, letting go of the sobbing girl's hair. "They're groaning, saying that you were a mistake, and that they regret ever keeping you." She smirked and crossed her long slender arms. "You and I both know that what I say is true, so don't you even try to convince yourself otherwise. You're a week, scared, feeble minded little girl. You make me sick by just looking at you. You make everyone sick. Everyone wishes that you would die, and you know it. So? Why don't you just die already?! Just die and leave all of us alone!" she put on a fake sympathetic voice and patted the girl's head. "But you can't even do that right, can you?" she asked malisk dripping from her falsely sweet voice. "It's not like you have anything, or anyone for that matter, to live for. No one loves you. No one can ever love you. You'll always be alone. Did you know that? Of coarse you do. How could you forget? You've always been alone, and you always will be," she whispered deadly.
The taller, older looking girl with the black lifeless eyes walked away, either oblivious or just plain ignorant of the sobbing girl that she had left behind. The girl just cried, every word leaving a throbbing pain in her chest. Each one stinging like daggers piercing her body. Each word, each insult, had begun to break her. Now after sixteen long years she was finally broken. Her soul and her heart had both been broken and shattered into millions of little pieces that had been trampled on again and again. Broken.
*~ End Dream Sequence~*
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!" screamed the girl with azure blue eyes and dark chestnut brown hair. She slid out of her bed and quietly cried, hugging her small lithe frame tightly. The dream...the same nightmare that she had had since she was five. She was now sixteen years old, and every night, every single night she had had the same nightmare. And every day she lost a little bit of herself, a little part of her soul. For eleven years she had fought against the dream girl, but ever since the accident her strength had begun to diminish. Every night she was reminded of what happened on that terrible cold March night. She could still smell the alcohol in his breath. Could still see the cold steel pressed against her throat. Could still feel... She shook her head, tears flying everywhere. She would not think about it. Would not think about that night. Anything but that night.
So now she didn't even try to fight the dream anymore. More like embraced it. The girl was in fact right. She hadn't had a friend ever, and no one even tried to befriend the always silent girl. Her parents acted like they knew her, cared for her, but they had no idea who she was. They didn't see how much it hurt their child when they never talked to her, never hugged her or asked her how she was. They didn't even know that she had the nightmare. Maybe they did know but they didn't care. But maybe it was better that way. Because nobody else cared either....nobody cared....anybody. The thought rang through her head, always with the dream girls steely voice. She finally cried her self unconscious and went into a dreamless slumber.

Akari:.....I-I'm speechless...
Kurai: Wow. It's a miracle...
Akari: *glares* That's not funny. This is seriously messed up!! How can we even write this kind of thing?!
Kurai: Easily. And besides, you don't write or type. I do.
Akari: That's not the point sissy! That was some serious angst!
Kurai: Well, so is the rest of the fic. Even more so if you ask me.
Akari: Are you serious?!
Kurai: You didn't read it like I told you to after I wrote it did you?
Akari:...*sheepishly* Umm...no?
Kurai: *sighs* I thought so. Well...I hope you enjoyed our prologue to our story. Thank you.
