It was dark and desolate, the very air warning of hidden dangers. The street stretched indefinitely, the soft rolls blocking the town's view. Not that there was much to see; the cracks and gaping mouths of potholes were everywhere, the few trees that lined the walkway were barren, stripped of their vibrantly colored leaves that now stirred in the middle of the street as the chilly air swept by. Sirens could be heard, the high pitched squeals disturbing the deathly silence even though they were far enough away to raise little concern to the residents, if any, in this part of town.
The dried corners of fallen leaves crunched beneath gentle footsteps, a single boy stalked this street, white hair whipping his face as he clung to the thin, denim jacket with pale, slender fingers. The wind left cool streaks on his white flesh and he muttered under his breath in annoyance.
“Oh Ra…of all the days…” his dark eyes shifted around restlessly “Gods, of all the streets on all the days…I have terrible luck…” His petit form huddled against itself as much as possible and he quickened his pace, unaware that the ravenous leer of a predator was focused entirely on him.

A figure was perched high above the streets and trees, watching from a building so far away from Domino that it would have been a pure dump of luck had anyone noticed him. His eyes scanned the silent streets for some time, waiting in hunger for the right hour. Any moment now and the streets would be overrun with pathetic mortals to feast on, their tender flesh torn into easily, and tasting mildly sweet from their disgusting ritual of eating all that they had collected. The air was more violent up there and his long, black coat snapped while his hair flittered across his face, both falling back into place with the wind's death.
The moon hung low tonight, tainted red with his desire, not that he was the only one. There were others, not many, just enough to keep the repulsive number of humans low. Although his kind generally kept to themselves, he was known for keeping company with two others just as dark minded as he, but generally not as cruel.
The light bled upon the town and it was by this unholy act of the moon that dead eyes fell upon the lone, ghostly figure walking down a deserted street. He was captivating, to say the least, flickering in and out of focus as he was repeatedly cast beneath the trees' shadows.
An elegant brow was raised in interest as the predator allowed his gaze to follow such a delicate creature. There was a low chuckle behind the hungry shadow; slicing the air beautifully, deep silky voice toying with his ear.
“My, my…that's the most emotion I've seen cross that delicious face of yours in four millennia.”
He stayed silent, gracefully holding up his slender middle finger to the voice, all the while keeping his empty gaze on the small youth far below him.
A lithe figure melted out from the shadows, scarlet eyes flashing in amusement. “Is that a promise?” The Dark `King', as he liked to call himself, purred while grazing the other's ear with a long fang.
He suppressed a shudder, knowing no good would come if he drove the scarlet-eyed demon on with any sort of reaction. An icy hand slithered beneath his tight black shirt, tracing slow circles on his chest and trailing feather like touches over well-toned muscles.
“You're so quiet…still as death, yet a million times more sexy…” a cool, thin lower lip brushed against his cheek and a razor sharp tooth left a faint scratch. “I'll make you scream…” the dark hissed, the other cold hand lacing around the unresponsive form and slowly coaxing the head to face him “I can make you cry out in pain, lust, utter satisfaction…” the scarlet eyes pierced him with a gaze laden with desire “And all you need to do is ask…” They were so close now; the whispering dark's chilled breath poured down the other's shirt and caused his body to tingle. The scarlet tipped hair swayed gently in the autumn breeze as the youth leaned in to kiss the seemingly submissive and silent other.
`Seemingly submissive.'
He allowed the darkness to overrun his senses as he quickly melted into one of the shadows and reappeared standing on the building's crumbling edge. He would not be Yami's fuck toy tonight…or ever if he could avoid the dark king for eternity…
“Aw.” Yami pouted then grinned manically. “I'll get you soon enough my dead demon heart…” the dark winked his blood red eye and smiled darkly so both slender fangs glinted eerily in the red moon light. “But you'll be the one coming to me after you find that mortal and gobble him up.” The silent one narrowed his eyes in protest. “What? You really think you won't end up feeding on him? You've gone through this before, Love, and no matter what you do you're Blood now, so stop fighting it…you'll never get away!” The dark's voice had become harsh; no one broke from the night's grasp, especially not for some fascination, a vile `crush', on a mortal! “He'll turn you away the minute he sees you! He'll run, scream, and beg you for mercy! And after unsuccessfully trying to tell him that you'll do no harm,” Yami grabbed the other's arm and roughly yanked him so that their noses nearly touched “You'll snap! Tear into his flesh and suck him dry…loving every minute of it, you'll come back here and wonder why you were such a fool to think he'd be anything more than an appetizer!”
They glared at each other, time slipping by without concern, their eyes unblinking. Yami smirked and threw the other's arm from his grasp. “Fine…” he hissed raking his crimson eyes over the leather clad form of the one he desired…for the moment anyway…“Go find your boy and play with him all you want,” Yami slid his hand up the other's leg, taking in a breath as he reveled at the firm body just waiting to be taken underneath the thin, glossy, black leather. “But if he's dead by tomorrow night I get to screw your soul to Hell…” The other rolled his eyes; it was typical for the dark to wager on anything and everything. He nodded in agreement and winced as Yami dug his nails into tender flesh. “Excellent…” the gambling lord hissed.
Once Yami managed to slide an icy hand away from the other's ass, the silent shadow leaned back and let himself freefall to the ground, landing cat-like on the still earth below. Death prevailed on this night and he could smell its offensive stench clinging to the night like a starved man to a bite of food. Yet, amidst the folds of decadence there was the faintest wisp of unnerving sweetness and astounding innocence. He knew it came from his ghostly prey, doppelganger to one of the demon's kind. The shadow's unnatural abilities allowed him to stalk towards the boy at a speed where there seemed to be several of him, dark eyes peering in silent awe and a tainted mind planning a way to steal the beautiful youth from the undeserving earth.

The pale boy shivered as he stopped, skin crawling as he felt several pairs of eyes leering at him. From where, he could not pinpoint, but he looked nervously at the darkest of shadows splayed across the ground when he swore he saw it move closer to him.
“Oh Ra…” he whispered, the soft voice filled with fear as he felt the air chill around him. Something rustled the leaves even when the wind stayed still, a shadow streaked by him, and his eyes peeled open when that something stirred the dead branches of the bush beside him.
The boy bolted from his spot, slender legs taking him forward only to be yanked back and pulled through the scratchy arms of the bushes. “No!” he kicked frantically and screamed at the top of his lungs, not that anyone was around to hear his cries. “Please, someone, Help!! Let me go!” he rolled around on the grass, stumbling as he stood, soon realizing that two thin arms were wrapped tightly around his waist. There was a soft giggle and it was then that the frightened boy looked down at his attacker.
Large, amethyst eyes blinked at him, giant grin plastered across the smaller boy's face. “Sorry, Ryou…” hopping away from the other youth, who's heart managed to start beating again, the normally innocent boy tried to stifle the bubble of giggles in his throat “Just couldn't resist…”
Ryou grunted quietly, dusting off his pants and narrowing chocolate eyes at the other…but he soon couldn't help but soften his gaze and smile, the white-haired boy found it impossible to hold anything against anyone…much less one of his closest friends. “Well, I suppose I can forgive you…it is Halloween…”
“It's more than that, Ryou!!” the chibi like boy bounced around him, having snuck some candy earlier in the evening. “It's your birthday!!”
The white-haired boy rolled his eyes, “Yeah…” he sighed sadly, the happiest day of the year for every kid was their birthday, unfortunately Ryou's had to land on the scariest out of all 365! “Yuugi, I'd of thought you'd be at Jou's by now for the party.” He decided to change the subject, as it made him slightly depressed.
“Oh! Didn't you hear? It's been switched back to Kaiba's, now that they've kissed and made up.” A wry smile over took the smaller's face, “And boy do I mean `kissed'! I swear, you'd of thought they would pass out from the lack of oxygen!” Yuugi made a face, wrinkling his little nose as he recalled the very long apology session he had front seats to earlier that day.
“Figures I'd be last to know…” Ryou muttered sadly. He knew his friends never intentionally left him out, but he couldn't get over that lonely feeling.
“I'll meet you there ok? I gotta go home and change into my costume before hand.” Yuugi skipped away cheerily, waving good-bye to his friend.
The pale angel sighed heavily, now he had to walk back where he had come from because Kaiba lived in the opposite direction. He made his way through the darkened street, hearing the shrieks and giggles of children many blocks away as they ran door to door in search for more treats. Ryou kicked at several rocks and managed to kick one a block away from where it had been, when he heard what sounded like a `swoosh' behind him. His white hair quivered as he turned around, there was nothing there, but his shadow painted long and thin across the sidewalk. He scratched his head in irritation; he was far too paranoid for his own good. The nervous boy slowly scanned the area once more before turning around, coming face to face with one of the night's vultures.
