Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Simple Wishes ❯ Explanation ( Chapter 1 )
Simple Wishes
A/N: After being encouraged by some people, I've decided to try and start writing the next part of this story. I've a few ideas in mind already; all I have to do is to translate them into written form. After forgetting the disclaimer, here's one. This chapter explains more of the two characters, and what happened before and after. A preview of the next chapter is right at the bottom, and you probably can guess what's going to happen.
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh and Yuugi-tachi. All I own are the ideas and my OCs.

//Aibou?// The spirit of the puzzle was finally made anxious for the first time in his afterlife, as he tried to contact his lighter self through the bond they shared, only to receive no reply. Frustrated, he almost wanted to kick the door to his aibou's soul room open… But no, he wouldn't. He was a per- spirit who respected his lighter self's privacy, and that was that… Usually, his other self would reply within seconds eagerly… but now… He couldn't blame Yuugi after all; Jounouchi's death had been hard for them all to take.
He was eager, still, to share with Yuugi the vision the Millennium Tauk had showed him, the one where Jounouchi and him were facing each other off after Battle City in the streets of Domino with the rising of the sun behind them. He knew it would be true… The Tauk never did lie, well, except for the future Isis saw with Kaiba - but that was another matter altogether. //Aibou…?// Said spirit was now very worried. Five minutes of calling - without boy replying.
He had to do it; the spirit was too worried no to. Taking a deep breath, and praying to Ra that his other self would forgive him for this, he pushed the door. Feeding in his shadow powers, he kept pushing until the door finally creaked opened. "Yuugi?" he called out as a warning. "Yuugi?" The door opened further, meeting with no resistance. The floor was still its messy self, the toys still scattered all over the floor, as he had last seen it… But Yuugi was nowhere in sight.
"YUUGI?" Said spirit was more worried than ever. Where else could his lighter self have gone if he wasn't in any of the soul-rooms, not in control…? There was one fact he just had to face. Yuugi… had vanished into thin air. Quickly retreating from the corridor, he opened his eyes and ran into the room where they were watching Jounouchi with hopes on their faces, but now turned to look at him.
"Other Yuugi, what do you mean?" Anzu asked, the brown-haired girl concerned for the well being of the spirit, wondering if he had gone half-mad or something due to the stress from Jounouchi's death. It was well known that Yuugi and the other Yuugi faced more troubles through this incident, as Jounouchi had been Yuugi's first true friend, and helped the other Yuugi more than nay of them had.
"Yuugi's not here anymore… It's like he's gone. Disappeared. Vanished." The words rolled off Yami's tongue easily, as his eyes narrowed. "I will get my hands on whoever has my aibou. They will pay. They will pay." He snarled almost animal-like, and made everyone else in the room frightened. The spirit turned and stomped out of the room, up to where Seto was, and he knew what he was going to do. Stop his dueling UNTIL his aibou was found. His aibou was much more important.
So much more important indeed, his aibou was.

Red was horrified. He had always like murder scenes, the blood in all its gory was a beautiful masterpiece, but what he looked upon right now was worse than that. It made him want to puke. The people on the streets were all wounded, but they were all in the danger of being prodded to a painful death by sharp spears the Waterstream held to their bodies. No matter the injury, they all had to work, and if they struggled, they would only receive more pain at the hands of the nearest guard.
He growled angrily at the scene. Even his worst enemy hadn't done this, the most his nemesis had done was to rape and kill, which to Red, was much better than this form of punishment was. A sob came from his right, and he quickly realized his mistake, turning his body so he would block the sobbing person from the sight of everything that was happening. "Gary, hush, it's okay… We'll save them. The Waterstream Clan won't have this way forever…" The boy didn't reply, but his sobs came harder, particularly when Red mentioned the name of the Clan, and now he was more furious than he used to be. "Gary…"
"I trusted her… I trusted her… I thought she was going to help…" the boy kept murmuring in between his soft sobs. "Why, Red? Why did… why did she do this? She was against it all… wasn't she?" Red felt Gary pulled back, the tears stains were there, but the boy seemed to have stopped crying. The light blue eyes peered into his, for assurance and comfort, two things the other boy never had in his early years.
"My Ward," Red replied softly, using the official name Guardians had for the one they protect, "if you trusted her… then maybe you were wrong." Wrong move, he decided, when he saw Gary's eyes widen in shock. It wasn't the fact that Gary was wrong; it was more of the fact that Amelia betrayed the trust that Gary had placed on her, and betrayals had never - will never - cause Gary to react nicely.
"Why can't everyone just live along…? Why can't they?" Gary asked softly, but demandingly to his Guardian, confusion in his eyes. "Is it all that hard? Is it?" Red stroked the boy's hair gently and nodded. The boy only stared back at him, speechless for a moment. "But Red… It can't be… It can't be." The boy stressed out his last two words, and Red got the sense his Ward wanted him to admit he was joking, that what he was saying was a lie… He couldn't. It would be lying, and when his Ward found out, it would be trouble.
"Gary… this is life."
"Then I don't want to live! I don't want to live through this thing called life!" the boy screamed back, the tears coming back again. "I don't… Red… I wish… I wish everyone could be happy…"
"Gary…" Red trailed off sadly, and there was a sudden flash. When the light had stopped blinding him… Gary was nowhere to be seen. Gone. Vanished. "Gary?" There was no verbal reply. Gary? Can you hear me? Gary! Red was suddenly very afraid. What if it was one of those power-hungered person that took his Ward away? All he knew, he was in deep trouble. **Crimson! I need help!**
**What's it to you, younger brother?** His elder twin brother replied boredly, probably at home where his own Ward was recovering, Red thought, snickering, then remembered what was at hand.
**Gary's disappeared! I can't sense him anywhere at all…** Red knew his mental voice was hoarse and dry, and he even fed in a bit of his fear, to let it convince his older brother. Crimson was always somebody useful whenever you need him or not.
**Again?** There was a sigh, and Red needed no sight to know his brother was somewhat annoyed. **What happened to my holiday?**
Gone and down the drain, on its way to the spirit world, to be reborn, Red thought, but he didn't sent that thought to his brother. It would only displease Crimson, and cause Crimson to decide not to help him. Gary! Isn't it - He stopped the mental one-sided conversation immediately. He kept forgetting. He missed his Ward… **Crimson… please.**
**On my way, hang on. Don't cry either.**

There's a third wish. There's somebody else like us. I know it.
He's not ready though…
Then we get him ready.
They'll find out… They'll know.
A small price, is it not…?
A small price, but is it worthy?
You doubt me? After all, you've made your wishes…
…no. I trust you.
I trust you Jounouchi-kun.

A preview of the next chapter:
"Let's play a game of riddles. I will start by asking a riddle, and you will answer. If you are to guess wrongly, I will win, but if you are to guess correctly, you get to ask one. This will continue… until one of us answers wrongly three times. If we win… you will leave. If you win, well, we will leave your precious alone," the boy said, his dull blue eyes seemed to be smiling in glee. "Born at the same time as the world, destined to live as long as the world, and yet never five weeks old. What is it?"
