Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Slowly Sinking And No One To Save Me ❯ Betrayal ( Chapter 22 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Misress: LAST CHAPTER! Then the epilogue, oh and the epilpogue is really short so I added the rest of this chapter to that one.
Chapter 21: Betrayal
I thought you would save me,
Keep your promise,
Stand by my side,
And love me until the end of time.
I see now,
The mistakes I've made,
I trusted you,
And now I pay.
Like my father,
Like my family,
You've betrayed me,
I'll never forgive this treachery.
This betrayal is the last,
I don't care anymore about our past,
Although you don't love me anymore,
I still do but you've changed the tide of the war.
I wish you farewell,
This is the end,
I'll see you in hell, my lover my friend.
Ma'at(1)
Ma'at pulled back and away from Ryou, giving him time to digest everything he had been shown. Nadia watched from the side interested to see Ryou's reaction as she fiddled with her hands. She knew there were two ways this could go, Ryou would return to Ma'at or he would go to Bakura. Yes…they knew about the white haired counterpart. They knew everything about him and Ryou. Thanks to the link between Ma'at and Ryou, they had been able to see what had happened between them, everything, their past, their present, how they felt about each other...their weaknesses.
Ryou opened his eyes and stared at Ma'at with great sorrow. He pitied her…felt sorry for her…for more than one reason. While he knew that they had loved each other in the past, and he knew he felt something for her even now…but he had Bakura didn't he?
“I don't know what to say,” Ryou said slowly finally having regained enough of his senses to talk.
“Than don't say anything,” Ma'at said softly as she came forward and kissed him once again.
Ryou placed his hands onto her shoulders and pushed her back slightly, “I can't….there is…someone else.”
Nadia knew this was coming, deciding to leave her mistress to sort things out she went ahead and began the preparations for the pharaoh. They would remove his soul just as they had Ma'at's. They would make him suffer the pain she had, it was only fair wasn't it? She opened the back door and found the table that Ma'at had prepared as she was out collecting the items. She began to pull it out, so that it was in clear view of the main part of the warehouse, if they could make the pharaoh suffer why not have the others watch, it would create more pain. Everything needed for the spell was there, a bit more modern, but all that was needed was there. Nadia began concentrating on binding spells that she could release at any time to stop the pharaoh's friends or to bind him if needed. Although Ma'at really prefered to watch him struggle and scream just as she had.
Ma'at stared at Ryou and scowled, “the thief.”
“You know about him?” Ryou asked slightly surprised.
“Yes I know all about him and what he's done to you….and how he's fooling you,” Ma'at said as she stood up straight and backed up, burshing Ryou's hands from her shoulders.
“Done to me? Fooling me?” Ryou repeated confused as Ma'at began to walk away, wanting to know more he followed.
Ma'at stopped at the other side of the warehouse and turned, “He's abused you, ignored you…hurt you…I can't stand that… He has to be punished for it.”
“But he's changed, besides I love him,” Ryou said trying to convince her to leave his love out of it.
Ma'at looked slightly hurt but covered it up quickly, “He's changed? If you say so…but we've been watching… how do you know he isn't just playing you? What if he was playing on your feelings? Thinking you were just an easy lay?”
Ryou's confidence wavered, he had wondered that a few times himself, “But he was so honest, and he told me that he loved me…”
“He's a thief, lying and pretending are his specialties,” Ma'at replied and went to wrap her arms around Ryou gently, she brought him close and pressed her face into the crook of his neck.
Ryou this time didn't object and let himself be caressed. There was a truth behind her words… why would Bakura love him anyway? All of Ryou's old doubts returned that instant.
Ma'at pulled back so that they were eye to eye, “Ryou…I love you…. I love you so much…. Stay with me please?”
Ryou stared back and opened his mouth to answer but they were interrupted by a loud noise. They turned around and looked at who had interrupted them. At the entrance to the warehouse stood Bakura and Marik, both with angry looks on their faces. Ma'at grinned at them and pulled Ryou closer to her daring them to attack, to react. Bakura looked ready to kill anyone near him.
“Give Ryou back,” he growled.
“Why would I do that? My love and I are finally reunited, besides….are you even sure he wants to come back?” Ma'at asked in a teasing voice giving Ryou a small kiss on the cheek.
Bakura stood confused, “Of course he does.”
Ma'at shook her head and placed a small kiss onto Ryou's head. Ryou turned and stared at Bakura with distrust and hurt. Of course Bakura had been lying to him, who would love him? He had been so naive and it killed him. 'I guess Bakura was right, I am too nice,' he thought dejectedly.
“Do you want to go back?” Ma'at asked Ryou in a gentle tone her locks falling over her eyes.
Ryou shook his head just slightly but that was enough for Bakura.
“What did you do to him witch?” he asked with a glare.
“Nothing… I would never force something upon him. I would never even dream to harm him unlike someone,” she said pointedly, hinting at all the times Bakura had abused Ryou, perhaps not beaten him but mental abuse, the strain of Bakura using his body constantly.
“Bakura don't listen to her. You've changed,” Marik said as he watched their backs to see if Malik was anywhere near, he could sense they were coming but the aura that Ma'at was emiting was overpowering their senses.
“Ah… but you say you've “changed” and yet you've caused him so much more pain…not physically but emotionally,” Ma'at replied wickedly, knowing that it had hurt Ryou to see Bakura and the two Ishtars together.
“What do you mean?” Bakura asked suspiciously.
Ma'at laughed harshly, “That's for me to know…and for you to live regretting.”
Ryou stared at Bakura with lifeless eyes, still leaning into Ma'at's body, “I was nothing to you…never was…just something to throw away.”
Bakura looked into Ryou's eyes seeming desperate, “No…don't ever say that… Ryou you know I love you, why doubt my word? Please come back…”
“You've lied before….what if you're lying now… I don't want to be hurt anymore,” Ryou said his voice breaking as his mind recalled everything that had happened to him.
“Worried you'll lose your toy Bakura?” Ma'at asked with a grin that Ryou couldn't see because of his position.
Bakura sighed and took a few steps back. He raised his hands in sumbision, “Ryou… you have your own choice…you can either choose to come back… or you can stay with her… all I can do… or say is that I love you.”
Ryou stared at Bakura once more, Bakura had never sounded this sincere…this truthful…or this fluffy, and Bakura and fluffy didn't mix. Maybe Bakura really did love him…just maybe. Ryou stepped forward slowly shaking Ma'at hands off of him and began moving towards Bakura.
“What? Ryou, he's lying,” Ma'at said not being able to hide the despair in her voice.
Ryou shook his head, “No….he's…being honest with me. I've never seen him this truthful.”
Bakura walked forward and wrapped Ryou up in his arms. Ryou gently brought his arms around him and burried his head in his chest. Bakura mumbled words of comfort into Ryou's ear and hugged him tighter, afraid that if he let go he would loose him again. Marik grinned at Ma'at who's features were pure shock and hatred. Just then a car pulled up to the warehouse. Yami, Yugi, and Malik jumped out of it and raced to the entrance.
“We're here,” Malik said breathless having been scared that something had happened to them.
The three newcomers looked up at the person know as Tadheya to them at least. Nadia winced knowing the pain that her mistress had just experienced, this was even worse than the betrayal of her family. This would complicate things entirely. They had originally planned to kill everyone but Ryou but they couldn't do anything as long as Ryou was with them, this meant a change of plans and Nadia frowned knowing the blood bath that was about to begin.
