Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Sparks ❯ New Year ( Chapter 1 )
Well, here is my latest story folks! I'm taking a break on Koinu Kifuu and Jouyouheki: The Series, because I'm blocked on those! So I'm writing this story instead, and maybe I'll get ideas! Maybe!
This is a Joey/Mai pairing people! (And to let you all know, if I do a squeal it will become Seto/Jou, on some line or anothe!)
So my disclaimer, I don't own Yugioh or it's characters whatsoever.
No tell me? Which character do you think will want to interrupt the relationship and take Joey herself? Hmm?

The blonde's groan echoed throughout the room; as she got up, she let out another groan. Summer was over, and school was starting again. Joy.
She hated school with a passion. Everyone there were hypocrites. They all said they were good in magic, and don't get her wrong, some were, but others weren't and they were bragging. God, she hated it so much.
At least she was graduating this year, so much better! She'd be out of school, and then she could use magic freely. One more-year for it to happen, but one more she'd have to put up with the dreaded school.
Violet orbs scanned the room, and landed on the worst possible thing they ever could: the uniform they had to wear. A simple blue denim school skirt and a black short-sleeved top; though, since she was one of the upperclassmen, she could have a sleeveless top if she wished. It would help, but not much. It wasn't that bad-looking, but still she hated it. The school's taste in clothing was completely ridiculous.
Another thing to mourn over: the teachers. All of them were rude, obnoxious, and always looking for a way to insult their students, or prove them wrong. At least, that was her opinion.
School officials: they were the worst part of the damned school she just happen to be going to. So many rules, you had to follow each and every one of them. They loved giving off detentions, but they had to make sure the detention was necessary.
"Mai!"
The said girl shuddered and frowned; at least she wouldn't have to put up with her mother; one good thing about school; the only good thing. "Get down here! You have to leave soon!"
Great! She was late for her first day back at school. That was definitely not acceptable to anyone, and she didn't feel like cleaning out another room like last year. Ugh, they made it so gross, she claimed they had a grudge against her, and by the looks of it, they probably did!
So with that, she hurriedly rushed around the room, throwing on the disgusting outfit, and neatly-though quite quickly-putting her hair in a high ponytail. Once done she ran down stairs, only to be greeted (if you could call it that) by her mother.
"Hurry up and get to school! I didn't pay all this money for you to dawdle and not pay attention! Now go!" Her mother glared at her, shooing her out.
Rephrase! Mai didn't exactly want to go that bad, she could have attended normal school and practice her magic in hiding with a tutor. It would be easier! Of course, she could never convince her mother of that, and ah to hell with it! One more year and she'd be out of her mother's hair. Simple.
Though her mother never did listen to her own flesh and blood! It was sad, really.

"Settle down. I said settle down!" the voice boomed over all the students who were talking loudly to each one of their friends that they haven't seen all summer, due to vacations or whatnot.
The whole room went silent, the Head Master smiling gratefully.
"Now, thank you! Listen up, once we separate each year we will hand out your schedules. And remember, you have to put down which magic you are studying so you can choose the classes, and we can approve that they are right for that certain magical aspect. Now, please go into your right group; twelfth years with twelfth years, and so on so forth!"
Within minutes, every one was in their respectful spot. Mai frowned; she wished this year would get over with so fast. But that is exactly another thing that wasn't on her side today.

One more class before they started lunch. The day had dragged on and on. She'd finally get a break.
Here was a class she for some reason never took, and now has to take it to graduate: a defense class. Which, not taking a defense class first, is pretty stupid, but who was she to care? At least she wasn't the only twelfth year in this class; in fact there were at least ten more-that made her feel slightly better, slightly.
Mai tapped her fingers on the desk, yawning tiredly. She closed her eyes, practically ready to fall asleep at any given moment-but she was rudely interrupted when small gasps were heard. Damn the girls for doing this to her!
She opened her eyes, and immediately began mentally thinking the girls for gasping and keeping her awake. Half her brain was thanking them, and the other half was telling her to quickly close her eyes again.
Which did she choose?
She kept her eyes open.
In walked a boy (he wasn't a man from the looks of it, but not a boy either, so boy for less confusion), a very attractive boy nonetheless. Blond locks fell in front of his face, and a pair of honey brown orbs was clearly seen through the blond hair. The eyes were the most attractive part, Mai had to admit. Honey colored, how perfect. . . His skin was lightly tanned, the light enhancing the tan color. He looked beyond gorgeous, who was he and why was he here?
She blinked as he sat down. Wait. . . HE WAS THE TEACHER?! That was shocking.
"Excuse me, but you are the teacher?" one dared to ask.
He nodded with a smile, "Yeah, I am. Go ahead and ask me any question. Not like I planned anything to do for today. I thought we'd start tomorrow, and I figured you had a lot of questions." Everyone nodded, staring at him. "So, who is asking first?"
"What is your name?"
"You all can call me Professor Wheeler." Hmm . . . Professor Wheeler, nice name, for the most part anyways.
"Not meaning to be rude, but how old are you?" It was Mai's turn to speak up. She looked at him, and she knew the whole class was wondering.
"I was beginning to wonder when somebody would ask that." He smiled, "I'm nineteen."
"That means. . ." Mai rolled her eyes at the clueless tri-colored haired boy.
"I graduated when I was fifteen, and I finished college a little after I turned eighteen, and here I am."
Graduated at fifteen; wow, he must be good at magic!
Mai smiled gently, laying her head on the desk. Maybe this year wouldn't be so bad after all.
