Otogi was still in Benus arms, when he stepped in another room. Inside the room was a table. And on the table were many bowls filled with different fruits of all kind. And a few plates with bread on them. Benu put Otogi by the table down and took a seat beside him. The twins were also sitting at the table. They ate for a while in silence.

 

“Benu? Why am I here? How have I come here? How long have I been here?”

 

“Not so fast Otogi. The best is if I start with how you have come here. It was when I were on my way home from another meeting with the other gods.”

 

* Flashback *

 

What do this meetings bring us? Nothing. Benu was flying over a village that was near his temple when he noticed that something was wrong. It was to quiet. Slowly he flew nearer to the village when he heard a scream. Coming in his direction was a figure holding a bundle in its arms followed by a horde of desert thieves. The anger Benu was feeling at this moment was uncontrollable. He let his anger out on the desert thieves. He roasted them all.

 

Benu was going down near the corpses and shifting back to his human form. When he looked around he saw that all the villagers were dead. He was looking for the figure he has spotted when he flew over the village.

 

Nowhere was a hint were it could have disappeared. Something on the ground caught his attention. Two empty monster cards and a magic card: twin spell caster bound*.

 

Benu picked the cards up and then the magic card began to glow meaning that it was now activated. Two small light balls were coming out of the card. Each disappeared in one of the monster cards. Benu turned around when he felt the strong magic behind him.

 

There stand two spell caster type monsters. One of them holding a bundle in its arms. They looked similar. But there were a few differences. The one with the bundle looked more feminine and the hair was longer.

 

“Nice trick. The magic card is activated if she is picked up by someone.” Benu smiled. The boy? took a step forward and raised his staff ready to attack.

 

Inwardly Benu was laughing. They don't know how is standing in front of them. I wonder if she has seen how I have shifted back to human form.

 

The twins were nervous. Was the newcomer friend or enemy? He wore a white robe with long wide sleeves. This meant he was no desert thief. But what was he then? He has appeared from nowhere. And where was the phoenix that was flying over the village a few minutes ago?

 

Benu was thinking how he could get their trust without scaring the living daylights out of them. He took one step forward and this was his mistake.

 

“LIGHTBALL ATTACK!!!”** the boy yelled.

 

Benu raised his right hand and the ball that was flying towards him vanished. The monsters were shocked.

 

“What… are… you?” the girl asked.

 

“I'm a god. My name is Benu.”

 

“What do you want from us … god?” the last word was spit out by the boy. The children were both really angry.

 

A small whimper caught the attention of all. The boy turned around to the girl. In this moment Benu moved so fast that the children were surprised when he was standing beside them. The boy tried to attack Benu with his staff, but Benu moved faster and send the boy with a shockwave in the next building.

 

“RIKO!!!” the girl screamed. Now the bundle began moving and screaming.

 

“It would be good if you would give the boy to me.” How does he know that the child in my arms is a boy?

 

“Over my dead body!” she hissed.

 

“Look girl, if I would truly kill you, than I would have done it already, right?” Ocean blue met emerald. In defeat the girl lowered her head and gave the still struggling baby Benu. When he was holding the boy he stopped struggling and looked in the warm eyes of Benu. It looked like time has stopped for a moment. The little boy yawned and went back to sleep.

 

The heap of rubble where Riko was lying underneath began to move. The girl run over to help her fallen companion out of the rubble.

 

Benu walked slowly over to the two spell casters. Riko gave Benu a look that meant: If I would get the chance to kill you I would do it.

 

“There is no need to hate me. I have get rid of the desert thieves for you.” The spell casters began to glow and then shrunk back to their normal form. Now in front of Benu were two little Nemuriko's sitting.

 

“You three have no place to stay, so why don't you come with me? My home is not far away from here.” The Nemuriko's looked at each other and then at Benu. They had no other choice and so they nodded yes.

 

* end flashback *

 

“When I have given all of you a home you were only 5 month old. And all this happened last week.” Otogi looked puzzled and then laughed.

 

“Otogi, this wasn't a joke. It was the truth. When Benu has brought us all here he let you age to a 5 year old child. And he has also given you all the knowledge of an 17 year old priest.”

 

“But… why?”

 

“Because I need your help for what am I doing in a few days.”

 

“And what is this?”

 

“I will tell you at the right time.”

 

“And why should I stay awake when you were meditating?”

 

“This was a test for the things that will come soon. You will understand it soon. But now we must pack our things. We are going on a longer journey. Now is the right time for the legend to be born.”

 

“Are you speaking about the prophecy?”

 

“Yes, Otogi. I was speaking about this. Now you three get your things. We will leave in an hour.”

 

One hour later…

 

“Benu? I have still one question. How have you and the twins become friends?”

 

“We have played chess."

 

"Chess?"

 

"Chess. And we have played three days and nights. And in this time we became friendes. Now have you all your things?”

 

The twins and Otogi nodded yes. In a flash of light the twins have disappeared.

 

“How will we travel?”

 

“We will fly.”

 

With this said Benu began to glow and he shifted to his phoenix form.

 

“Unbelievable!”

 

`Climb on my back' Benu told Otogi.

 

“Where are we going?”

 

`We are not going, we are flying. To the city Karnack. There is our destination.” Otogi stopped asking questions and climbed on Benu's back. Benu stretched his wings out to there full-length. And with a few wing strokes he was in the air: Otogi hold tightly onto Benu. But after a few minutes he was enjoying the flight.

 

“Benu! Nut is burning.”

 

`No. She isn't burning. This what you see is Apophis blood. Every sunset and sunrise there is a great battle. Before the sun skiff can sail into the underworld Seth must kill Apophis to protect Ra in his sun skiff. And that is the reason why every sunset and sunrise the sky is red.'

 

“But in a strange way…”

 

`… it is beautiful?'

 

“Yes.”

 

The night was cold. But Benus feathers kept Otogi warm.

 

`Otogi? Do you see the fire in the distance?'

 

“Yes.”

 

`There is a caravan. The rest of the way we will travel with the caravan. We will land now and change clothes.'

 

Benu landed softly on the sandy ground and Otogi climbed from Benus back. As Benu has shifted back to his human form Otogi gave him the shoulder bag he was caring. Benu pulled 2 cloaks with hoods out of it. He handed one over to Otogi who pulled it on. He looked over to Benu and saw that he veiled his face. Only his eyes were not covered.

 

Benu walked slowly over to Otogi and covered the face of the boy.

 

“It is now time that I let you age a little bit more Otogi. Is this OK for you?” the boy nodded yes. Benu stretched his right hand out and hold it over Otogis head.

 

Strange tingles run through his body. In excitement he watched his hands and body growing. A soft light surrounded his body. As the light faded away the process was over.

 

“It feels strange Benu.”

 

“The feeling will soon left you. Come now. We have still a little walk for us before we can rest.”

 

“But why must we travel the rest of the way with the caravan?”

 

“Because it is saver. Do you see the rook there in the sand? This is the limit. Behind this point I can't hide my powers anymore from the view of the other goods. If I would fly behind this line in my god form I would only attract the attention of the other gods. That's why we will travel the rest of the way with the caravan. Now come they have a fire and there it is warm.”

 

Together they walked slowly to the oasis.

The palace guards watched the two figures slowly coming near them. The order from the pharaoh Akunamkanon was everyone that comes near the caravan has to be killed. The guards were not really happy with this order.

 

If the pharaoh hasn't such powers there would have been already a rebellion.

 

But there was a little light of hope.

 

The queen Nefertiri was awaiting a child. And if Toeris {speak To-eris} is smiling over the queen then she will give birth to a son.

 

But now they must follow the order of the pharaoh.

 

A scream of utter agony broke the silence of the night. One of the guards hurried to the nearest tent. The two strangers met the other guards.

 

“We have order from the pharaoh to kill everyone how comes near this caravan.”

 

“We only need a place for the night. Is this a reason to kill someone?” asked the taller one of the two.

 

“We have our orders and we must follow this orders or else the pharaoh will kill us and our families. You could make it easier for us if you don't…”

 

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !” another scream was heard. The guard how has gone into the tent hurried out of it and looked really pale.

 

“Queen… Nefertiri… she is… now becoming her child.” All the other guards paled as well.

 

“We can maybe help you.” The smaller one announced. The two strangers were their only hope. They would be as well dead if the queen would die now.

 

“If you can help her you will stay alive.” Both nodded to show they have understood.

 

Benu and Otogi followed the guard in the tent. There in a soft bed was queen Nefertiri. Her face was read and she was sweating. Her breath came staccatoed. Benu knew from experience that this would be not an easy birth. He had been many times in the temple of Toeris to help her a little bit.

 

He walked over to Nefertiri and carefully put his hands on her abdomen. He lightly pressed here and there on her abdomen. Worry was written all over his face.

 

“This does not looks to good.” Benu announced. “It is possible that you will die, queen Nefertiri. Your baby has not turned. If I don't help you to give birth to your child you both will die.” Benu looked Nefertiri straight into her ruby eyes. A small nod was all he received.

 

“I need warm water and a few towels. Otogi look if you can find a piece of leather were she can bite on.”

 

A view minutes later he had all he needed. Benu pulled the sleeves of his robe up to his arms and washed his hands. He took the leather from Otogi.

 

“When the labour pains come bite on the leather and try not to press until I tell you otherwise.”

 

“Ok… what are your names?“ she breathed out.

 

“My name is Benu. And this is my son, Otogi.” when Otogi hold her hand Benu put his hands on her abdomen and began to move the child in the right position from outside. Nefertiri groaned in pain. Benu finished his work and was about to remove his hands when he had a vision.

Blood. Blood was everywhere. The palace guards were attacking him and Otogi. Behind the guards were two dead bodies. A young woman and a baby. Queen Nefertiri and her son were dead. Around the neck of the baby was still the umbilical cord.

 

The sound from a body falling to the ground caught his attention. One of the arrows had gone right through Otogis heart. Benu couldn't believe it. The had killed the boy he had grown to love like his own son. Anger took over him. Not holding back his rage he let it go. A giant fire wave raced over the guards killing all of them.

No. He couldn't let this happen. Quickly he washed his hands.

“I'm terribly sorry, queen Nefertiri. There is only one way to save the life of your son and yours. I have to bring the boy into this world. Or else both of you will die.”

 

Nefertiri only nodded yes to get this over as fast as possible.

 

`I have to use my magic.'

 

`But father if you use your magic the other gods will notice us. Haven't you said this?'

 

`Yes, I have. But this kind of magic is similar to Toeris' magic. The other goods will not get suspicious about this. Toeris is always there where she is needed.'

 

“Otogi hold her hand.”

 

“Yes, father.”

 

Benu put again his hands on her stomach. They began to glow in a soft light. Then slowly they slid through her stomach inside her body.

 

Queen Nefertiri whimpered in slight pain. The feeling was very uncomfortable.

 

Benu felt the head of the child and then he felt the umbilical cord. Carefully he removed it from the boy's neck. He pulled his hands back and the light faded away.

 

Queen Nefertiri felt a labour.

 

“Now you must press.” Told Benu her, holding a clothe in his hands. Queen Nefertiri screamed in pain as she pressed. Benu took hold of the upper body of the child and pulled it the rest of the way out.

 

“Rabääääääääh!!!!!! !!!!” the boy let out a loud scream. A son. The heir of the Egyptian throne was a son. Benu bathed the small child. Before he handed it over to his mother.

 

Nefertiri gently hold her son in her arms. “Atemu. This will be your name. Atemu.” The boy looked with his big ruby red eyes in his mothers. She began feeding her son.

 

Suddenly Benu noticed the discomfort Otogi was in.

 

“Are you ok, Otogi?” Benu looked at the boy. He was paler then normal. His voice was shaky as he answered: ”It's nothing.” But the afterbirth was to much for him. He clasped a hand over his mouth and ran out of the tent.
