Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Story of an Hour: Yu-Gi-Oh! Style ❯ Story of an Hour ( Chapter 1 )
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh, although I wish it were possible. As for this idea, it's sorta a branch off of a real story.

The news was a hard shock to Jonouchi. Seto had died in a plane crash. He was on the list on the people dead from the New York Police autopsy. The news was broken to Mokuba first, as to let him prepare the funeral and such.
When Jonouchi was informed of his lover's death, he fell into his sister, Shizuka's arms, wailing for his lost lover's demise. Then, after a moment, he ascended up the stairs of the Kaiba mansion, into their room, where they had slept together for over 2 years now. He slumped down into a desk chair that Seto had always used to sit in when working on Kaiba Corp. crap. He laid in the chair, not one tear in his eye, but his face was as hallow as any other.
Still, in his mind, it was screaming to him "free, free, free". This pounded the thoughts in his head. How could he say such things? This was his lover he was talking about. The guy he had been with and loved for the past two years! And yet, his mind was still screaming "free at last..".
He looked out the window, as to escape his thoughts. Outside, New York City looked the same as it always did, except…except it seemed a bit cheerier than usual. There were kids on the street, playing hopscotch. Two old people were talking about their old days in World War II, smiling at the same time. Near the Kaiba mansion was a small park. Jou could see little kids playing with their dogs, their parents watching them from afar. Then, he saw an old woman feeding the pigeons.
Then, he thought about the new possibilities that lie ahead. Seto was gone, so he and Mokuba would inherit everything. The money, jewels, the damn house even! He would be one rich dog…yes dog, what Kaiba had called him for the longest time. While he found it to be a way of him being special, he also hated the name from the deepest part of his soul. He would never have to hear those words again, "get on your knees and beg like a dog." All these new possibilities and future changes were welcomed by Jonouchi.
Finally he got up from the chair and opened the window, screaming "Free! Free in my body and soul!"
"Jonouchi! Jonouchi are you all right? I heard screaming…Jou the door is locked! Open the door, big brother! Jonouchi!" Shizuka screamed from the other side of the door. She looked in the keyhole to see if her brother was alive, and then before she knew it, the door flung open. Her brother came out, pulled her into his arms and muttered "A whole new chapter in my life has started." Then he pulled her arm and held her next to him as they descended down the stairs.
"Jonouchi, are you all right? I mean you just lost your lover…how can you be happy?" Shizuka whispered. Mokuba was at the bottom of the steps, waiting for Jonouchi.
Then, a key came into the keyhole of the front door. The door opened slowly and in walked a dead man. Seto Kaiba, although a bit tattered and torn, walked in. He had survived the plane attack when another man gave him a parashoot to save him. As he walked in, he looked up and saw his beloved. But when he looked, he heard Shizuka's scream as she tumbled to the bottom of the stairs.
Kaiba was too late.
When the doctor came in that night, Jou had died of heart disease, of a immense joy that consumes the soul.

Dreizhen: Well, that's it!
Seto: You tried to kill me.
Jou: Where the hell did you get this idea from?
Dreizhen: Um…from a story we had to read in English. It just seemed to fit you two so well.
Seto: What the f*** does that mean?!
Jou: I never heard that story before…
Dreizhen: Well for Jou and all you out there, the original name of the story was "Story of an Hour" by Kate Choplin. We read it in class and I liked it…so this is how it went my way!
Seto: I'll sue you.
Jou: You two are funny.
Dreizhen and Seto: Can it, canine!
