Surprise, Surprise

Cali's limousine pulled into the parking lot of the hospital. She wasn't in a critical condition, so there wasn't any need to bother the emergency meds quite yet. She exited her sleek black car slowly, almost oblivious to the curious stares coming from the others in the lot. Look! A limo! Who could possibly be in it? They all went back to their own business after seeing Cali, who was still fairly unknown here in Domino City.

The hurt in Cali's arm had lessened to just a dull pain. Cali had already gotten used to it, waiting to arrive at the hospital. Now she was just thinking about that dumb videophone conference. I don't want to have to deal with those boring old stiffs right now. I'm too young for this… Cali continued grumbling about this until she realized that she was concentrating on something besides her arm. She decided to turn around a corner to an isolated side of the building. Maybe I should try again. Therapevo. Therapevo. THERAPEVO, DAMMIT. Now it listened…

Bakura lost the magic trail, but saw the long limousine in the parking lot of the hospital. There was no sign of Cali anywhere. She must be in the building. He began walking over to the doors when his Millennium ring glowed again.

***

There was a tingly sensation in Cali's arm as her bones began to meld together again. It was slightly painful in itself, but not overwhelmingly so. Eventually the tingles faded as the bones healed themselves.

Bakura followed his little ornaments, arrows leading him to the side of the hospital. Cali was standing there, holding her arm parallel to the ground. She couldn't see him. Ah, healing magic… this could prove to be very useful… I doubt even Talon knows about this. Bakura could sense the element and it's power.

He cleared his throat deliberately.

Cali spun around, surprised. "Bakura! Hi…"

"What are you doing around here, Cali?" Bakura asked, deciding to imitate the hikari.

"Um, uh... nothing, really…"

This isn't your friend Bakura.

What?

A yami. He doesn't seem harmful, but keep an eye open.

Bakura could sense the use of magic but didn't see any immediate results. Calliope? But she couldn't have unlocked… Something was stirring inside… Damn, he's waking up…

Cali noted that Bakura began looking agitated and pained. He was squirming slightly and wasn't looking at her as they chatted about school and other topics. Suddenly, Bakura looked very bewildered, eyes restricted like a deer caught in headlights. Hikari. Bakura's- but then suddenly returned to normal. Danger, Cali! Callio-He's restricting his hikari. Get out, now!

She took a few stumbling steps backwards, eyes locked with Bakura's. He finally realized that she knew what was going on and then lunged toward her.

"You, you're-" Cali couldn't finish saying `evil' before he grabbed her waist tightly and clasped a hand over her mouth, preventing her from speaking and muffling her spells.

"Yes, Cali, and what are you going to do about it? You can't say your little magic spells anymore…"

"mmphk…"

"That's what I thought."

He proceeded to tie a rag around her mouth so that he wouldn't have to hold his hand there, and then dragged her back to her car, intimidating the driver enough to drive back to Bakura's home, into his hikari's room. He locked the door with a key, and then put it in his pocket.

"Well, Miss Cali, please have a seat."

She stood.

"I said SIT!" he yelled pushing her onto the bed. Don't worry; he got up. Nothing happening there.

"MMM!"

"Sorry; didn't mean to be so rough. I'm just following orders, you know."

"Mmm?"

"Talon."

"Mm.."

"You know what? He never said I had to keep you gagged after I got you in my room. I'm going to take it off, but you have to promise not to use your magic to escape."

She nodded her head vigorously. Idiot.

"and if you do try anything, I'll bring my Man-Eater Bug to life and he'll devour you."

Oh.

He reached behind Cali's head, untying the cloth that bound her. She pursed her lips as soon as they were free. Bakura flopped down on the bed next to her, sighing and running a hand through his long white hair. Cali sat prissily on the edge as far away from him as possible.

"You know, I'm not going to hurt you."

"You did just kidnap me. I just escaped, too."

"Just following Talon's orders."

"and just why are you taking orders from him?"

"He pays me."

"How much?"

Bakura grinned. "Enough for me to buy …things," he said, nodding his head toward his nightstand. The sexual implication thoroughly freaked Cali out.

Ew…what a pig.

"So you have a girlfriend, I presume."

"Nah… don't like being tied down…"

"Oh…"

"Does your hikari agree?"

"Ryou? Ryou doesn't… know, exactly."

"He's lost his virginity and doesn't even know it?!"

"Hmm..yeah, that's about right."

Cali rolled her eyes and shook her head away.

"Why are you keeping me here? Why aren't you taking me back to that dungeon?"

"Because Talon doesn't know of your little magical abilities. I'm sure your price will raise considerably when he does, so I'm just going to keep you here a bit longer than planned and wait for him to pay."

"No, please don't tell him about my magic!"

"Why not?"

"Because… he's evil. I know, deep…well, very deep down, you're not really bad. You just a little greedy."

"Heh… sure, Cali, whatever you'd like to think. Well, since I'm so greedy, I think I'll just call up Mr. Talon and have him bring me my money."

"No! … I'll pay you too!"

Bakura shut his flip cell phone. "Now you're talking. What exactly are you offering?"

Let him name his price… give him anything. Anything? Well, not anything… just enough…

"Name your price, Bakura. I'm positive I can beat whatever Talon is giving you."

Bakura smirked and moved towards her, not noticing Cali reaching into her pocket and pushing a button on her cell phone.

Seto sent Mokuba back to his friend's house and was rushing to the hospital in his limo when his pager went off. It was Cali, but there was no message. I wonder what's wrong. Maybe there was a complication with her arm. He went inside the hospital to check up on her, but the receptionist said that she was not checked in. Strange… maybe she never made it here. He pulled his pager out again and searched for her location. Bakura's house? Why that little son of a b- "Where to, Mr. Kaiba?" his chauffer asked.

"Bakura's. Here's his address," Seto said, showing his driver the pager. They sped off in that direction.

Stall longer! Are you sure this is right, Calliope? Yes, just do it.
