Dangerous Liaisons

I can't believe she would do that. Did I really just mean nothing to her at all? I… I thought I felt a strong connection with her, but I guess… I guess it was only one sided. Hell, she knows I love her; I always have, but she just goes through us so quickly, like she doesn't even care… Yugi and me and Bakura… Seto slammed his car door and instructed his driver to take him home.

Cali was crying on Bakura's bed. How could everything have gone so wrong? I never meant to…Why do I always …When did my life become like this? Always lying, always manipulating…

Meanwhile, Bakura dressed his wounds in the bathroom, deciding to simply wash his face rather than bandaging his lip and right eye, which was quickly blackening. He looked up into the mirror, dabbing his face with a small washcloth tentatively. Should I tell her? She deserves to know…but…the money…oh, screw it. I'm telling her.

Talon was growing restless. Bakura had not returned with news about Yugi's in-and-out patterns yet. Does he really expect me to wait here for another three thousand years?

"Oten!"

"Yes, Talon?"

"Find Bakura and capture him."

"But I thought we were going to do that after he'd completed his services."

"I've changed my mind. Get him now."

Cali had convinced herself to stop crying like an annoying little baby and control herself. This was how she normally was; she'd have some emotion and then persuade herself that it was nothing and let it dissolve into nothing. Now she had removed herself from the bed and was sitting, arms around knees, against the side of the bed on the floor. She had a little song stuck in her head…

Liars. Fairy tales don't come true. Sleeping Beauty never woke up. Snow White ate the poisoned apple. Cinderella burned in her stupid fireplace. Cali twisted her mouth in a sadistic smile. It's just a matter of time before Bakura takes me to Talon. Eventually he'll capture everyone and rape me- I don't care. I'll find some way to escape; I did last time. I didn't need Seto then, and I don't now.

Bakura knocked gently on the door. Cali didn't answer, but he came in anyway.

"I-I'm sorry."

Cali sighed and looked away.

"It's completely my fault."

"It would have happened anyway… I've got too many things to do, things that could mess it up too."

"I know."

"You… know?"

"Millennium Eye."

"Then you know I'll try to-"

"No need to; Pegasus made you believe wrong information."

"What are you suggesting?"

"I'm suggesting that you only need one Item, Kaiba's technology, and that little microchip of yours."

Seto walked into his mansion of a home with a scowl on his face, continuing to slam every single door. He stopped and glared at Mokuba, who was frozen midway while reaching for an orange, staring at his brother. Then Seto made his way up the stairs, stomping on each stair as loudly as possible. Mokuba grabbed his orange and stepped out of the kitchen to watch Seto slam into his bedroom.

He could live in this bedroom. There was almost every necessity available to him: a bed [obviously]; a television with videophone capabilities; a telephone and cellular charger; a mini-refrigerator, completely stocked; a fully equipped bathroom, and most importantly, a technological toolbox. For the next few days, Seto would live in this room, too…or that was the plan.

Oten and a few of the "others" gathered up their kidnap supplies and began to make their way to Bakura's house. They were moving slowly but surely across the city, lots of strange looks for themselves on the way. Well, they were dressed in robes, carrying lit torches, nets, and clubs.

"Well I'm not sure how to get these Millennium Items… I tried, but failed."

"I know. You have to defeat the owner in a duel."

"I don't know how to play Duel Monsters."

"-Shadow Games."

"Whatever they're called. It's impossible."

"Ah, but I know a way for you to get one."

"How?"

"Well, you see, I've got two…"

"What do I have to do? Nothing like that…"

"No, of course not… I just lost my control for a while…memories, you understand…"

"Bakura."

"Oten and few other people are coming to capture me as well. I was taking too long for them; I was supposed to be figuring out a way to kidnap Yugi. All I want you to do is protect me. You'd be helping yourself as well; if they see you here, they'll capture you too."

"I'll do it."

"Good. I'll pack up a few of my things."

Bakura left the room, leaving Cali to sit and think about the deal she had just made.

Malista? [Yes?]

Why does it seem so easy to do things with Bakura? I mean, I'm not attracted to him like Seto… but he just doesn't seem so evil anymore. He's made a few references to the past and memories… any idea what he's talking about?

I knew this would come up.
