Chapter 4: Feelings and Scheming

It was well into the afternoon when Seto trudged back into the temple with a look of defeat on his face while Kure teased him, "Aren't boys supposed to have endurance, I mean you boys all think you're so high and mighty. You're probably one of the most full of himself boys and yet you couldn't catch me."

Seto glowered at her and furrowed his brows ,but didn't say anything. He just glared at her with a glint of frustration in his eyes.

She grinned when she saw the expression on his face, "Don't worry about it though Seto," she mocked patting him on the back, "I'm sure there is still a girl out there who'll like you even for your err…minor defects."

Seto shot her a look of furry, "I don't plan on ever meeting that girl then."

"Oh ho!" Kure chuckled placing her hand over her mouth to hide her amusement, "Never planning to marry then?"

Seto nodded, "Of course!"

Kure giggled, "Poor lonely Seto…" she smiled as he continued to scowl at her. She loved to tick him off.

"I don't care if I ever marry!" Seto huffed, "Girls are dumb anyway."

Kure stepped in front of him and put her hands on her hips, "At least girls aren't as dumb as boys."

Seto frowned then walked past her, ignoring her comment. He was really fuming inside. 'This girl doesn't know when to stop does she?'-he thought.

Kure turned around and watched him walk away, she hated being ignored. Then something stirred in her, why did she care that Seto was ignoring her?-she didn't mind it when Demaere paid her no mind since he was a friend.

She scolded herself in her mind, 'Why do I even care?' she folded her arms across her chest, still staring after him until he turned a corner and was gone from her sight.

Kure leaned against the cool temple wall and sighed.

*~*~*~*Saria and Yami and Ankara*~*~*~*

Saria grinned as Ankara began poking Yami with a stick she had found to avoid getting fleas from him. Every time Ankara would want to talk to Yami, she'd pick up the stick and jab him with it gently.

Yami obviously didn't find this amusing at all and eventually grabbed the stick from her and broke it in half then throw away the pieces which made Ankara angry so she threw a rock at his head.

Yami clutched his head and growled at the young girl, "Ankara…"

Ankara batted her eyelashes innocently at him, "I didn't do anything."

Saria smirked as she started to wash the plates from this morning's breakfast in a basin outside by a river.

Ankara soon found another stick ,but Yami broke that one as well causing Ankara to cry out in protest, "I need to protect myself from your fleas!"

"Boys don't have fleas!" Yami countered.

"Yes they do!"

"No they don't!"

"Yes they do!"

"No they don't!

"Yes they do!"

"No they don't!

An hour later…

"Yes they do!"

"No they don't!

"Yes they do!"

"For the last time, no they don't!" Yami felt like he was going to rip his hair out this girl was giving his a headache.

Ankara placed her hands on her hips, "Say whatever you want to ,but you know I'm right."

"Think what you want then." Yami hissed quietly.

Saria had finished washing the plates almost half an hour ago and had been watching the argument between Ankara and Yami with a look of entertainment on her face. "You two are so naïve." She rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"You and Kure are the ones who filled her head with these lies!" Yami snapped.

A small frown line formed on Saria's lips, "Actually, it was mostly Kure."

Ankara nodded, "Saria's too nice to say mean things about those who haven't fully evolved from monkeys yet."

Yami glanced at Ankara, "If she's so nice then why'd so get me and Seto stuck up in a dumb tree?"

Ankara's eyes widened, "You were stuck up in a tree?!?!" she looked surprised then grinned smugly, "And I thought monkeys were good climbers…"

"Ankara," Saria said warningly, "Don't you have some chores to do?"

Ankara grumbled then left the room cursing to herself.

After a few minutes of odd silence Yami peered at Saria and found himself feeling a bit strange.

Saria broke the silence, "Sorry about the whole 'boys have fleas thing', I don't want to blame Kure for this ,but she hasn't exactly have the most brightest view of boys."

Yami cocked his head, "Really?" he retorted sarcastically, "I couldn't tell she was a boy-hater."

Saria felt offended, "And Seto, the girl-hater, is so much better…" She wanted to punch Yami ,but she restrained herself and got up to go to her room.

Yami got up and decided to go find Seto if he was still outside, unfortunately, to get outside he had to follow Saria a bit since her room was next to the way outside.

Suddenly Yami felt someone push him from behind causing him to fall on top Saria and bump into the wall.

Saria was facing him and they both blushed when they realized how close their faces were to one another. Yami was on top of her on all fours and Saria was on the ground using her elbows to prop her up slightly. Yami's right hand was on Saria's thigh.

"S-sorry…" Yami said quietly avoiding eye contact with her pulling away slowly and quickly moving his right hand.

Then Saria pushed him off, "What the hell was that Yami?" she didn't look happy.

Yami whirled around, "S-someone pushed me…from behind," he stuttered.

Saria slapped him and stormed off towards her room and muttered, "Pervert…"

Yami heard a familiar giggle behind him and turned around to see Ankara, he rubbed his cheek which was stinging from Saria's slap, "Oh hush up you!" He snapped at her before continuing his search to find Seto.

*~*~*~*Saria and Kure*~*~*~*

Kure stepped into the bath daintily, letting her body get used to how hot it was before finally sitting down a few feet away from Saria.

Saria brushed out her long blonde hair, "I've been thinking…" she said slowly recalling the 'incident' between her and Yami.

"About what?" Kure said dunking her head into the water then emerging with wet hair.

"Those boys aren't so bad," Saria replied thoughtfully, "Maybe we should cut them some slack. Besides the fact that Yami's a pervert-

"And that Seto's as stubborn as a mule and as dumb as a lemming," Kure finished for her before raising her eyebrow, "What do you mean that Yami is a pervert?"

"Well, something happened today…" Saria remembered blushing, "He kind of fell on top of me." Her cheeks burned crimson when she recalled how her heart had skipped a beat when she saw that Yami was blushing as well.

Kure looked disgusted and gagged, "He 'fell' on you and you want to cut them some slack!?! Are you insane Saria?"

Saria shook her head, "Just forget I said anything."

"Easier said then done," Kure said trying to relax in the warmth of the water. She tried to get the picture out of her head of Yami and Saria, "You've just traumatized me for life."

Saria put her chin in her hands and sighed while staring at her friend, "I can't wait for the summer to be over, the sooner those two boys are gone the better."

Kure nodded her head as she began washing her body, "It's only another seven weeks until they're gone…"

Saria groaned, "Seven weeks, it's going to seem like an eternity." She got out of the bath and putting her robe on.

"You think way too negatively," Kure said grinning, "I think it's going to be more fun then you think." A familiar spark came into her eyes.

Saria knew that glint in her friend's eyes all too well, "What are you planning?"

"You'll see…" Kure answered with a devilish smirk on her face, "You'll see…" A plot began formulating in her head. 'This is going to be good…' she mused herself while Saria stared at her wondering what she was planning to do.

*~*~*~*Yami and Seto*~*~*~*

Seto flopped down on his bed, he was very full after eating dinner, "I can't wait until this summer is over. I don't ever want to see those two girls again."

"You mean you don't want to see Kure ever again," Yami corrected him.

Seto eyed his friend, "True, Saria hasn't given me any trouble since the tree thing on our first day here. Although…" he rubbed his chin, "I wouldn't mind ever seeing Ankara again."

Yami chuckled softly, "She is a bit juvenile ,but she's at the age where she's easily swayed by her peers, meaning Saria and Kure, since she doesn't view us with enough intellect to be peers."

"Right you are," Seto agreed, "But…"

"But what?" Yami inquired.

"There's just something about Ku-" Seto began then stopped, "Never mind."

Yami looked at Seto confused, was he just about to say 'there's something about Kure?'-he concluded in his head that Seto was just thinking about her because she was probably the only girl that he had ever talked to in his entire life. Yami didn't want to push Seto into talking so he stayed quiet then he yawned, "I'm tired." He stretched his arms and headed out of Seto's room, "See you tomorrow Seto!"

"See you," Seto said half heartedly, still thinking about Kure.

*~*~*~*Kure and Saria*~*~*~*

While the girls were walking back to their rooms wittier robes on and wet hair, Saria persisted to know what Kure was planning, "Tell me please!"

Kure shook her head, "You'll see soon…"

"It better not have anything to do with the upcoming festival!" Saria said hastily, "My mother is already looking for an excuse to kick you out of this temple and ruining the festival would be an ideal reason."

"It has nothing to do with the festival Saria, trust me…although it would be funny to do that at the festival," she stated thoughtfully rubbing the bottom of her chin with her hand.

"Just tell me what you're thinking," Saria pleaded.

"No, you'll have to wait ,but I'll fill you in when I've got it figure out okay?" Kure gloated.

"Fine then…" Saria crossed her arms across her chest and went into her room feeling annoyed with her friend.
