Ishizu walked through the Domino City Museum, mentally preparing herself for joining Battle City, the name of the tournament that she knew would be thrown soon, for she had foreseen it. However, what she had not prepared herself for was meeting someone from her past, and if she had, then she hadn’t prepared enough, for it took all of her strength to keep her bearings. She paused in front of the stone carving that she had shown Seto Kaiba not too much earlier and looked at the carving of the High Priest that looked so much like Seto. She soon left it, and moved to another carving, one that she wouldn’t dare show Seto, and would rather die than he see it. It was of two people in an embrace, one was the High Priest, and the other was a priestess. Ironically, the woman in the carving looked exactly like Ishizu. Simply looking at it brought back memories.

“Seth?” Priestess Isis called, looking for the one who had summoned her to the royal gardens. She was nervous about the entire thing, especially about the fact that they had no business in the royal gardens. It was reserved for just that, royalty, and whoever the royalty invited to join them.
Isis jumped when she felt a hand upon her shoulder, and would have screamed if it wasn’t for the hand clamped over her mouth. “Relax, love, it’s me.”
Hearing Seth’s voice, Isis immediately calmed down, giving him a slight glare for scaring her before she remembered her nervousness. “Seth, are you sure it’s a good idea for us to be here? I mean after all-”
Seth silenced her with a finger upon her lips. “Don’t worry. Atem knows that we’re here, and he gives us his blessing.” A smile crossed his face. “I have something to show you as well.” Isis had no more reason to be nervous after hearing Seth’s explanation, so she took the hand that he offered to her and followed him through the gardens. They kept walking, until she heard the sound of rushing water. Then Seth stopped. “Close your eyes,” he said to her softly, watching her as she obediently closed her eyes. They began to walk again, Seth carefully leading Isis so that she would not stumble. After going a little further, they stopped once again. “You can uncover your eyes now,” he said.
Isis opened her eyes and gasped. They were standing in front of a waterfall, and the light from the full moon glittered upon it, giving her the most beautiful sight that she had ever seen. “Oh... Seth... it’s beautiful...” she whispered in awe.

Ishizu sighed and forced away the memory, it bringing her too much pain than she wanted to deal with at the moment. She needed to focus her mind upon saving her brother and the world, and not upon the past. But even as she thought this, her mind drifted away to think of Seto’s captivating blue eyes.

You don’t remember me
But I remember you
I lie awake and try so hard
Not to think of you
But who can decide what they dream?
And dream I do...

Ishizu went home and tried to sleep, to gather her strength that she knew she would need in the future. No matter how many times she tried to empty her mind so that she could fall asleep, he kept returning to her thoughts, refusing to be pushed out. Eventually, she fell asleep from sheer exhaustion, and even then, he continued to haunt her dreams.

“That’s not all,” Seth replied.
“It’s not?” Isis replied, wondering what other surprise he could have for her and if she could handle it. She was already breathless from looking at the waterfall. She tore her eyes away from it to look at him beside her.
Seth took her hand and led her to a bench that was placed in front of the waterfall. It was close enough to give a spectacular view of it, yet far enough away so that the viewers would not get soaked by the water. He sat down on it, with her beside him. “I need you to close your eyes again.” Isis tilted her head questioningly, but complied wordlessly. Seth pulled out something from a hidden pocket in his robes and held it so that she would be able to see it when she opened her eyes. “Open.”
Isis opened her eyes again, and this time, her jaw hung open as she sat there speechless. In his hand, Seth held a ring, a beautiful golden ring, with a azure jewel in it, the same color as Seth’s eyes. “Seth...” Isis whispered, looking from the ring to Seth, her sea-green eyes shining brightly.
Seth took Isis’s left hand and slid the ring onto her ring finger with a smile. “Do you like it?” Isis nodded wordlessly, still unable to speak. “I’m glad. It’s a promise ring, I have one too.” He held his hand up, showing one with turquoise jewels the color of Isis’s eyes. “With this, I promise myself to you.” He lifted her hand and kissed it. “I love you, Isis.”
“I love you too, Seth.”

Ishizu sat up straight in bed, before lying back down and covering her head with her pillow with a groan. How long would this torture last? She never knew that seeing him again after all this time would reawaken all of the feelings that she had had in the past.

Ishizu entered the tournament, defeating every opponent that stood in her way ruthlessly. She did not rely on her Millennium Necklace to foresee what would happen, she relied on her own will and instinct. She didn’t know if she fought so hard for her brother, or if she did for her feelings. She just knew that she lashed out at every duelist that challenged her, in the hopes to ease the pain that was slowly, but steadily consuming her. The closer she got to the finals, the more torn she was about attending them. Ishizu’s Necklace had told her that her opponent would be against Seto, and that thought alone terrified her. She knew very well how his personality was, and she didn’t know if she could handle that again.
When Ishizu got all six Locator Cards, it was time for her to make her decision. Go, or stay. He’s not the only reason that you’re here, remember that, her conscience seemed to say to her. And it was right. She needed to go for her brother, for her Pharaoh, and for the light of the world. She couldn’t let her feelings cloud her judgment. Taking a deep breath, she prepared herself for her duty, creating a blank wall to hide her emotions about Seto. It took a while, but she was confident when she walked into the area where the Locator Cards had shown her. She saw the blimp, preparing to takeoff, and two of Seto’s men.
“I believe that you gentlemen are waiting for me?” Ishizu asked them, knowing very well that they were. “My Locator Cards,” she continued, holding them up and handing them to the man nearest to her.
“Welcome,” he said, taking the cards from her, and giving her a card with a number on it. “Follow us.” She followed them aboard the blimp and it took off immediately after they had gotten onboard.

Have you forgotten all I know
And all we had?
You saw me mourning my love for you
And touched my hand
I knew you loved me then...

Ishizu stared at Seto in shock as he summoned the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, then looked at it calmly as she resigned to her defeat. She smiled bitterly, having had another destructive blow to her heart. Not only was it practically thrown into her face that he didn’t remember her, even if she was, he wouldn’t acknowledge it. On top of that, she was defeated, and now she wouldn’t be the one saving her brother. That hurt her even more. Luckily for her, Seto didn’t see the look on her face as he finished her off and left. It wouldn’t take but a few more stinging words on his part to completely shatter the wall that she had built. She forced her feet to move, to carry her to her room so that she could be alone when the dam broke, and no one would notice.
She was almost to her room when she heard a voice behind her say, “Ishizu.”
Without turning around, she knew who it was. How could she not? She had only been hearing it in her dreams daily ever since she first laid eyes on him again. “What do you want, Kaiba? Did you forget an insult?” she asked sharply as she wheeled around, fixing him with a cold glare.
She saw him wince slightly, her words obviously having gotten to him. Other than that, he kept his bearings. “Not here. Come with me.” Ishizu narrowed her eyes suspiciously, but followed him anyway as he led the way to his room. Once inside, he closed the door, and she put as much distance between them as the room allowed, standing with her back to his large window, her arms crossed, and a skeptical look on her features.
“So, what is it that you take the time from preparing for your next duel that you need to speak with me about?” Ishizu asked, the sharp edge still in her voice. Seto started to approach her, but seeing that she obviously didn’t want to be near him at the moment, stopped trying to get close to her and took a seat far away from her. He didn’t say anything, leaving the room cloaked in silence, it seeming to echo with her words. Ishizu waited, but when Seto said nothing, she gave a derisive snort and began to leave. “I’m leaving. It’ll stop you from wasting my time and yours.”
However, she had to pass him to leave, and as she passed him, Seto reached out and grabbed her hand, holding it for an instant, before letting go. “Very well,” he replied as he let her go. Ishizu walked out of the room, and it was only when she entered her own room again that she realized what he had done. Seto...

The rest of the tournament flew by quickly for Ishizu, most of it being spent in confusion for her. She and Seto seemed to spend more time together when they weren’t dueling, but she wasn’t sure if it was just a random occurrence. It made her happy, yet put her in turmoil at the same time. She was short with him at times, and she knew that Seto could tell, because he asked her about why she acted the way she did. All she would reply was, “Memories.”

Sometime after Battle City...
It was a dark and quiet night, and Ishizu was standing out on the pier looking out at the water. Battle City was now over, and she had no reason to be here in Japan any longer. Malik had already gone, taking Odion with him. She sighed softly and said to herself, “I’ll have to leave soon... but when I do, I won’t say goodbye...” The only good things that had happened was that she had saved her brother and the world.
“Why’s that?” a male voice asked. It was Seto. The pier was their own unplanned meeting place, or so it seemed. It wasn’t the first time she had seen him there, and it wouldn’t be the last.
Ishizu turned her head slightly to acknowledge his presence with a glance before returning to her original position. “Because, when you say goodbye, it’s forever...” she answered softly. Then her voice took on a harsh tone. “But why am I telling you this? You make it a daily ritual, erasing people from your life, Kaiba.”
Seto winced slightly at her harsh words, made harsher by her use of his last name. She was the only one besides Mokuba who could deliver him such a blow. “That’s because I don’t have anyone to keep in it except for Mokuba. When someone enters my life that I want to keep, I will.”
That hurt her even more than anything else that had happened between them. So he didn’t want to keep me in his life... she thought. Her heart shattered at that moment. “I see...” Ishizu said, before starting off. Her heart was bruised, and she couldn’t let him see her like that, especially since tears were about to fall.
“Why are you acting like this Ishizu?” Seto asked.
Ishizu stopped and looked at him angrily, her eyes shining with unshed tears, but in her eyes, behind the anger, there was pain. “Just leave me be Seto.”
Seto stepped closer to her. “Not until you tell me the meaning of this!”
“Why?” the raven-haired woman screamed back. “So you can forget it just like everything else? You really want to know? Here!” She thrust the Millennium Rod at him.
When Seto had taken the Rod from her, Ishizu looked away from him, knowing what he would see as it glowed brightly. She couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down her face this time, she had held things in for too long. “Ishizu...” she heard him say as the glow from the Rod faded.
“I guess I wasn’t one that you wanted to keep in your life... I’ll be leaving it for good then. Goodbye, Seto...” She began to walk off again, keeping her eyes averted from his, not wanting to see the look that he had in his eyes.

I look in the mirror and see your face
If I look deep enough
So many things inside that are
Just like you are taking over...

“No, don’t leave,” Seto said, moving to block her path.
Ishizu tried to move around him, but he continued to block her way. “Get out of the way, there’s nothing you can do to stop me.”
Seto shook his head. “Stay, because...”
“Because of what?”
“Nothing... never mind...”
Ishizu laughed bitterly, thinking that this was a replay of what had happened in his room in Battle City. He had wanted to talk to her then, but then didn‘t say anything. “I was right. I should have known.” She quickly stepped around Seto, but he grabbed her arm.
“Ishizu,” Seto pleaded.
She, who was looking down at his arm, looked up into his eyes. She said softly, but firmly, “Don’t stop me, Seto.” She took him aback with the level of coldness in her eyes, and he slowly let go. “Thank you.” She began to leave. “Sarabada,” Ishizu said over her shoulder as she walked away, not looking back, not even once. When she did that... it all but killed her inside.

Ishizu wanted to go back to Egypt, but she found that she couldn’t leave. Her heart refused to let her. Finally, one day, she realized that she had to believe in him, and go to see him. She went to Kaiba Corp, and heard him talking about her. That was the moment that she found happiness.

Even more later...
“Do you, Seto Kaiba, take Ishizu as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?” the priest asked.
Seto nodded and squeezed Ishizu’s hand. “I do.”
The priest turned to Ishizu. “Do you, Ishizu Ishtar, take Seto as your lawfully wedded husband, to love and obey, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”
Ishizu smiled. “I do.”
“Then, with the power vested in me, I pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Seto Kaiba. You may kiss the bride.”
Seto folded back the veil that covered his bride’s face and whispered to her, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Ishizu replied. They both smiled, and Seto kissed her. As they did so, white doves were released. The sunlight glowed on their smiling faces and their clasped hands as they looked at each other, and sparkled brightly off of two rings, both made of gold, but one had a turquoise jewel and the other a sapphire jewel.
