Priestess: I haven't written Yu-Gi-Oh for a while, have I? I guess I haven't been paying much attention to it due to my new fanfiction.net account having no fanfiction on it (duh, it's new). Anyway, onto the weird fanfiction!

You don't remember me
But I remember you
I lie awake and try so hard
Not to think of you

A slender, tanned woman gazed out at the water. The river seemed calm, but she knew that in truth it was made up of rushing rapids. But no one could tell by looking at it, or listening to its gentle whisper. She knew, because she was like the river.

Who could tell by a glance that Isis Ishtaruu held a storm inside? Who could tell that she yearned for something more?

She had her brother, that was true, but she yearned for real love. The love between a man and a woman, or in some cases between a man and a man or a woman and a woman. Everybody around her seemed to have found love.

Anzu and Honda. Bakura and Yami. Jonouchi and Yugi. Mai and Shizuka. Malik and Ryou. Even Kaiba had found his soul mate, that Blue-Eyes White Dragon girl Kisara. Not that she wasn't happy for all of them, but she felt very alone. No one knew this, of course. Just like no one knew about the strange and erotic dreams she had been having...

She sighed and turned to walk away, but slipped and plunged into the river.

Her premonition about the river being rushing rapids came true, and she couldn't have fought even if she had air. Nonetheless, she kicked and tried to reach the surface. During their stay in Egypt after the Battle City fiasco, she and Malik had learned to swim in the Nile. But she hadn't had air when she fell, and now she was about to drown...

A strong arm wrapped around her waist, and she felt a body against her. The body shot up, and she felt the air from kicks against her legs. Then she was lying on the bank of the beach, her dark hair and white skirts fanning around her. She was drenched and breathing hard, so she knew it wasn't a dream. But whoever had saved her was gone.

But who can decide
What they dream
And dream I do

She had the dream again, like she always did. She was lying down somewhere, she couldn't see. It was a dream, after all. Then suddenly a hand lifted her head from behind. Strong but gentle arms positioned her so she was sitting on somebody's lap.

Strong hands cupped the supple orbs of her breasts, and she wondered why her nightgown always seemed to vanish at this point. The question was soon overrun by pleasure, and she sighed blissfully as coarsened fingertips massaged her nipples. The hands traveled down, running over her tight flat abdomen. She could feel the warm cheek against hers, but she was still unable to see anything but a haze of darkness.

One hand went to her most private area, and she moaned in pleasure as a finger moved into her entrance. The first several times, the mysterious presence would always vanish when it reached her abdomen, but by then it seemed to be comfortable with giving her pleasure.

She could feel her inner walls swell and tighten as the finger played with her clit. She bucked her hips and moaned...

And woke up.

I believe in you
I'll give up everything just to find you
I have to be with you
To live, to breathe
You're taking over me

Isis groaned. Once again, just as she was reaching a high point of her dream it came crashing down around her. It was strange. No man or woman she had ever met had sparked much interest in her-well, one had, but they were enemies anyway-yet she had never felt doubts about the presence in her dream. It seemed familiar and sad, and she wished that she could meet it in person.

She lifted her nightgown just enough to free her pubic area, and she felt the wetness of the juices there. She pressed a finger into her entrance and wished it weren't her own hand giving her this gratification. She could feel the imagined touch of the mysterious presence, and it sent her shivering into release.

Have you forgotten all I know
And all we had?
You saw me mourning my love for you
And touched my hand
I knew you loved me then

At breakfast, Malik was unusually quiet. Isis was always quiet, but Malik usually wasn't. When he finally spoke, all he said was, "I've been having some weird dreams lately." An idle remark, but Isis's head shot up.

"Have you? About Battle City again?"

"Kind of..." he said, and she waited patiently for him to clarify. "Well, it was about Mariku." That was the name they had given Yami no Malik, she recalled, because it was a kanji of Malik. "It's always the same dream...he's standing at the edge of a cliff, staring at the other end. He seems...I don't know. Sad. Lost. You're at the other end. Then, every night, a bridge forms. But every night it falls apart. The first few nights it left nothing, but lately it's like...planks are staying behind, getting formed on both sides. I know that he wants something, but...what?"

Isis's thoughts were a tumultuous muddle, but at the same time there were a million pieces of a jigsaw puzzle coming together harshly. It seemed impossible, but what if...maybe...was it possible...?

"I don't know," she whispered. "I don't know."

I believe in you
I'll give up everything just to find you
I have to be with you
To live, to breathe
You're taking over me

Isis walked to the river again, this time making sure not to fall in. She watched the raging waters, and just thought.

The air seemed to change. It took on a woodsy scent which tickled her nose. Everything was very quiet. Even the crickets stopped chirping. For a moment time seemed to stand still, and Isis waited.

"Hello, Mariku."

I look in the mirror and see your face
If I look deep enough
So many things inside that's
Just like you are
Taking over

"So, you guessed." She couldn't read his voice, so she turned to face him. It was indeed Mariku, but there was something different about him despite that he didn't have the Rod. Then she realized it. That evil, insane air was gone. He seemed calm and questioning, not evil at all.

"I had help. Are you the one who saved me? And the mysterious being that's been visiting me in my dreams? And the presence I've sensed following me around?"

"Yes, yes, and yes."

"I thought so. Why?" He didn't respond, so she continued. "How did you escape the Shadow Realm, and why do I sense no evil around you? Are you really Mariku, or am I being tricked?"

"I am Mariku, and I didn't escape the Shadow Realm. Not all of me. Most of me came from the Shadows, and that part of me stayed. It seems that I wasn't entirely evil." When she seemed puzzled, he continued, "Most of Malik's negative feelings had a bit of love at the source, a bit that was almost entirely gone. Somehow it escaped from the Shadow Realm and became me. As long as Malik has so evil in his heart, I exist instead of the man you knew."

She tilted her head, and her mind brushed out. He didn't fight, and she moved her powers gently through him. She sensed fear and guilt, sadness and peace, loneliness and longing, love and a gaping emptiness. No threat or evil.

"Not much..." she whispered, suddenly afraid. "You're just a scrap of a soul, only your feelings make you real."

"Well, thanks," he retorted, but he didn't sound angry. She suddenly wondered if it was possible for him to be angry. Suddenly he walked forward, covering the space between them in three strides. Before she could say anything, he moved forward and his lips brushed against hers in a tender kiss.

She wrapped her arms around him, wishing that his kiss would last forever. When she felt his tongue against her teeth, she parted them obediently, and the warm wet muscle snaked inside. She almost moaned in pleasure as he explored every crevice of her mouth, and had to force herself not to complain when his lips moved away.

"Was that real enough for you?" he asked with gruff amusement, and she nodded rather breathlessly. He smiled, but it was a sad smile. He moved his arms away from her, and suddenly seemed to shatter into a million bits of powdered glass which drifted away and vanished.

Isis's arms were hugging air.
