The Invasion

"I feel stupid…." Malik muttered, as he hid his halo in his cloak. Marik grinned as he finished blackening Malik's wings with soot again. He glanced at Yami, blackening Seto's wings; while he blackened Tristan's who was blackening Joey's, who was blackening Otogi's. Yugi was finished, and was helping them. Ahmose was standing before Otogi, fixing his hair.
"Never thought I'd be allying myself with demons." Seto said, and Ahmose gave him a smile.
"None of us expected an alliance such as this. But thanks to Bakura, things have changed for everyone." He said. Tristan frowned at Ahmose.
"I'm sorry, but I can't take this anymore… Your counterpart is on the Angelic Council." Ahmose blinked. "He said that you two had met, and that he had killed you!"
"Impossible…" Yami said. "Ahmose killed his counterpart. Right?" They all stared at the raven haired demon, who looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Ahmose sighed.
"That… is not entirely accurate…" HE finally said. "I did meet my counterpart, but we never fought. And we both walked away alive. And we have met several times since."
"What?!" Marik gasped.
"We can discuss this later." Ahmose said. "We don't have time. We must go now, or we won't be able to help Bakura. Is everyone ready?" They all nodded. "Then let's go." Ahmose said, and dove off of the cloud. They soon reached the secret entrance.
"They're guarding it…." Marik breathed.
"We got it." Malik said, and moved forwards with Yugi. Both had crossbows, and they took out the guards with a well aimed shot.
"You've been practicing." Seto grunted, with a smirk.
"Let's hurry." Yami said, and they flitted into the tunnel.

Bakura raised his head when he heard the rattling of keys and the turning of the lock. The door swung open and a pair of demons entered, carrying lengths of chains.
"Time to go, traitor…" One of them sneered.
"Traitor my ass…." Bakura grumbled, and stood. He let them chain him between them, and lead him out. There was a riot outside, and as soon as he stepped out the door, Bakura was bombarded with verbal assault. But he didn't care. He was forced to walk to the square before the Tower, where the council was waiting. He didn't even look at them as he was led up onto the podium and forced to his knees before him. Odeon, smirking, stepped forwards with a long piece of paper, and began to read.
"Soldier Bakura, you have been brought forth on this day to be executed on the charge of treason…" Bakura tuned him out when he saw Keith. The demon was leaning against the wall of a nearby building. He smirked, and held up a bloodstained feather for Bakura to see, twirling it in his fingers. Bakura's eyes narrowed and filled with tears. He let his head drop so that no one could see him cry. He did not care that he was living his final moments, all he could think about was Ryou. Odeon finished his yammering, and Bakura was forced up to the block and shoved to his knees. His hair was brushed to the side, baring his neck, and the executioner raised his blunt axe. Bakura closed his eyes.
"Ryou….." He breathed, and braced himself. There was a sudden crash, and Bakura opened his eyes, staring at the axe on the ground. Then, the executioner slumped over, and arrow in his chest. There were screams, and Bakura whirled and looked up.
"R-Ryuuji…?" He gasped. The piercing green eyes swept the crowd, and large leathery wing unfurled.
Behind Otogi, Ahmose was crouching, his wings spread, while a cloak hid Otogi's angel's wings.
"There…" Ahmose whispered. "Keith is over there…. The blonde leaning against the wall with the bandana on his head." Otogi nodded slightly, and fixed his eyes on Keith, and slowly raise an accusing finger.
"MURDERER!!!" He shouted, mimicking the tone that Ahmose had told him Ryuuji had. While the crowd was panicking about Ryuuji back from the dead, Joey, who would not be suspicious since he looked like Katsuya (Who refused to watch Bakura's execution), snuck up to the podium. He grabbed Bakura's tail and jerked him down, rolling under the podium with him.
"K-Katsuya?!" Bakura gasped.
"No, I'm Joey."
"The angel?!"
"Hi Bakura!" Bakura looked and stared at Yugi and Marik. Marik grinned and began picking the locks.
"What are you doing?! Ryuuji, he-"
"Fooled you too, huh?" Marik snickered. "That's Otogi, Ryuuji's counterpart."
"But, the wings!"
"That's Ahmose. Malik and Yami are up there too with Seto and Tristan. While everyone's trying to get things under control, we're gonna go get Ryou." Marik freed Bakura of the chains, and Yugi beat Bakura about the head with his soot covered wings, to hide his obvious white hair.
"Let's go!" Yugi said, and they darted out and joined the throng of panicked demons.
"We must stall Keith….." Ahmose muttered to Otogi. Malik shoved his crossbow into Otogi's hands, and Otogi raised it.
"DIE TRAITOR!!!" He shouted, and fired. Keith dodged, getting the arrow in his arm instead of his chest.
"Hold onto me…." Ahmose whispered, pressing himself up against Otogi. He then leaned forwards and they dove off of the building and Ahmose glided off, holding Otogi to him, trying to say out of sight. The demons were too panicked, and all ran from them, none of them trying to get a good look at them. Malik, Seto and Tristan followed after a moment and landed near Marik, Bakura, Yugi and Joey. They all ran. Ahmose and Otogi dropped behind a building and ran to join their other companions. They all ran.
"This way!" Ahmose called. They all then jumped into the air and flew low in the streets, heading for Keith's house. The others followed at high speeds until they reached the officer housing. They landed and ran as silently as they could, hearing the chaos that was still continuing in the distance.
"Here…" Ahmose breathed, and they reached the door. He grasped the knob, and turned. "Locked…"
"Move." Seto snarled, and kicked the door in. The group crept in, and looked around.
"Where is he?" Bakura hissed.
"This way." Marik said. "I've been here before…." Bakura nodded grimly, and they followed Marik to a door in the kitchen. This time, he lashed out and kicked the door in. He stepped into the doorway, then gasped and froze. "Dante's Inferno…." He gasped. "That sick bastard……" Bakura shoved by Marik and also froze at the sight of Ryou, bound, blindfolded and gagged in the corner, kneeling in blood and semen.
"Ryou……" He gasped, and ran to Ryou, who didn't respond. Yami and Marik both pulled Yugi and Malik back, refusing to allow them to see their friend like that. Ahmose strode over, seemingly the only one unaffected by the sight, and he slashed the rope binding Ryou's wrists. Ryou lurched forwards into Bakura's arms, and Ahmose knelt and cut the rope from his neck.
"We must go. Now." He said, and stood. Seto came from his search of the house and handed Ahmose a large shirt that he and Bakura got Ryou into. The brown haired angel replaced Ryou's halo on his head, noting that the glow was much dimmer than it should be.
"Hurry up!" Tristan called in, and they turned and headed out the door. They ran through the streets, waiting for someone to sound the alarm of their illegal presence.
"So far so good." Seto muttered, and they finally took wing.
"We're clear!" Marik called. "Don't waste any energy!" They headed at top speed for the secret tunnel, watching for any possible ambush.
"Go, go go!" Ahmose cried, seeing all the other through first and he followed. "When you get out, keep going! Seto stay with me!" They burst out of the tunnel and Seto turned to see what Ahmose wanted. The demon flew up to some loose rocks. "Help me block the tunnel!" Seto nodded, and they began shoving rocks until a small avalanche buried the entrance, and then, they followed the others up towards the Gates of Heaven, and their only chance of survival…

The youngest member of the Angel Council hid a yawn behind his hand as his elders debated over something that in his opinion was trivial. He was almost dozing off when he suddenly felt goose bumps rise on his arms. HE felt strange, and he knew why. He leapt to his feet.
"Mikado?!" Rishido called. "What's wrong?"
"I have to go!" Mikado blurted, as he flew from the room. The council watched him go.
"I told you we should not have allowed one so young on the council…" Someone grumped. Mikado was heading straight for the Gates, as fast as he could fly. When he got there, the guards opened them, allowing him through, not about to question one of such high rank. Mikado began looking around as soon as he was out of sight.
"Ahmose…?" He called. "Ahmose, where are you?!" He landed softly. "Where are you?"
"Here." Ahmose said, stepping into view, flanked by Seto and Tristan. Mikado's eyes widened.
"What's happening?!" He gasped.
"You friend Ahmose…" Seto said. "Helped us get the missing angels back."
"What?!" Joey and Otogi came into view, still dusting soot from their wings, and they were followed by Yami, Yugi, Marik and Malik. And behind them, Bakura came bearing Ryou. Mikado stared at their condition.
"What happened…?" He gasped.
"I have been thrown into exile." Ahmose said. "The same can be said about Bakura, Marik and Yami. These angels helped us get into Hell and save Bakura from the executioner's block, and we rescued Ryou from the home of a sadistic demon named Keith. The point is, we are all seeking sanctuary."
"Demons seeking sanctuary in Heaven?!" Mikado gasped. "You're mad!!"
"What else can we do?!" Marik snapped. "The truth is, we have fallen in love with our counterparts, and have been condemned for it!"
"And right now, if Ryou doesn't get to a Healer, he will die." Bakura said desperately, hugging Ryou to his chest. "And if he dies….. Please….. I can't live without him!!" Mikado looked over the odd group assembled before him.
"Alright." He finally sighed, and the others grinned. "Let's go." He turned and led them to the Gates. The Guards at the Gates stared. "These demons are under my protection!" Mikado called. "They are not to be harmed, and are not our enemies!" The guards blinked, not sure what to do. "We have an angel in dire need of a Healer! Open the Gates!!"
"We cannot!"
"Then call for a military escort if you are so worried, but they must be allowed entrance!"
"We are to destroy demons on sight!" The guards replied.
"Fuck this…" Marik snarled, and in the blink of an eye, had seized one of the guards and tossed him aside. Mikado fought the urge to snicker, and shoved the other aside, pushing the gates open. He led the group into Heaven.
"I must take you to the council." Mikado said to Ahmose. "I have no choice about that."
"Understood." Ahmose replied, nodding. "It's good to see you again."
"You too." Mikado smiled slightly.
Of course, word spread immediately that there were demons heading to the council, and within ten minutes, throngs of angels had gathered on the sides of the road, watching the strange parade of the two enemy species. The council was waiting for them when they arrived.
"Mikado, what is the meaning of this?!" Solomon called.
"Actually sir… I'm not quite sure…." Mikado said, then yelped when Bakura shoved his way forwards.
"He needs a Healer, now!" He gasped. Solomon's eyes widened.
"Ryou!" He gasped, and Pegasus ran forwards.
"Ryou….." He breathed. "You're alive…." He looked at Bakura, eyes wide.
"I will explain everything, Archangel…." He murmured, bowing his head in submission. Pegasus looked at the demon for a moment, and then returned.
"SUMMON A HEALER!!" He called. A tall angel with wild dark blue hair stepped forwards and hurried over to Bakura, who had gently laid Ryou out on the ground.
"Be quick, Ryouta." Pegasus said, and watched as the Healer began to work. A young woman with reddish hair ran up and knelt as well.
"Serenity, he's got some broken bones…" Ryouta said, and she nodded. Bakura slowly backed away to the give them room, bumping into Marik. Marik placed a hand on his shoulder, and Bakura looked at him. Malik looked at Bakura, then Marik, then back to Bakura. Malik then moved over and wrapped his arms around Bakura.
"It's okay…" Malik said, stroking Bakura's hair. Bakura nodded and rested his head on Malik's shoulder, then blinked when arms wrapped around his waist.
"Shhh… we're home now. Ryou will be fine…." He heard Yugi say. They waited, trying to ignore the crowds, until Ryouta and Serenity stood.
"We've done what we can." Serenity said. "He should be fine."
"Physically, yes…" Marik said, softly. "Mentally is another story." Bakura knelt by Ryou and began to gently stroke his wings.
"Ryou… Ryou, wake up… please…." Ryou made a face and stirred slightly. "Ryou… please wake up, my angel…" Bakura sat Ryou up and cradled him when he began to wake.
"…..'Kura?"
"I'm here. You're safe…" Bakura murmured. Ryou blinked his eyes open, and looked up at the demon. "You're safe now…" Ryou's eyes filled with tears, and he sobbed, flinging his arms around Bakura's shoulder, burying his face into his chest. Bakura crooned softly to him and rocked him back and forth until he calmed down.
"He… he raped me..." Ryou whimpered, and Bakura closed his eyes.
"I know, baby. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry… It's okay. I don't love you any less. On the contrary, I love you more. I'm just sorry I couldn't save you from it."
"You're alive…" Ryou whispered. "That's all I need…"
"It's okay now Ryou. You're home safe. You are really, and truly, home. I've brought you home, baby….." Bakura said. Ryou blinked and pulled away. He winced at all the white that met his eyes, and took a moment to focus. Malik grinned and knelt by Ryou.
"Hey. You okay?" He asked.
"Where… where are we?" Ryou gasped.
"Home!" Yugi cried excitedly, throwing his hands up into the air. "We rescued you!" Pegasus cleared his throat, and they all grew silent, staring at him.
"Uncle…." Ryou gasped. Pegasus approached them.
"Ryou… nephew… I'm so glad you're alive…" And he held out his arms. Ryou blinked, having never been offered affection from his uncle before. Ryou moved away from Bakura and ran to his uncle, who pulled him into his chest and hugged him. "I'm so glad you're alive…" The Archangel repeated, holding his nephew close. Finally, he released him.
"I believe that explanations are in order…" Solomon said, sternly. The demons looked at him and gulped. They made no protests when Angel Soldiers seized them.
"No!" Ryou cried.
"It's okay, Ryou." Bakura said, as he was taken into the Angel Council Chamber. The rest of the group followed, and the doors closed on the crowd outside. The members of the council took their places and all stared at the small group before them; Ryou, Bakura, Malik, Marik, Yami, Yugi, Mikado, Ahmose, Otogi, Joey, Seto and Tristan.
"Mikado. Your seat?" Solomon said, and the angel blushed and moved to his seat among the council. "An explanation please?" Solomon asked, looking at the soot-covered group. They all fidgeted for a moment, before Bakura stepped forwards.
"I assume that you know the story of the meeting between me and Ryou…" He said. "Well, as you can see, I didn't kill him. I took him home with me…."
