I own nothing...It sucks but it's true.

It was hard being in love with your best friend.
And it was really hard when said best friend didn't know you felt that way.
Or when this same best friend was blind to your advances.
'Yep life sucks' Joey thought with a sigh.
"What are you doing here blondie? Did the midget forget to buy you some puppy chow?" Bakura asked as he tossed himself down on the couch nest to a not so happy teen.
"Stuff it Snow White or I swear to all that's evil and enjoyable that you'll wake up tomorrow with about 6 inches less hair than you have now."
"Someone's in a pissy mood. What's wrong tiger? Have to listen to that small breasted bimbo prattle on about how everyone should be friends and make love not war or what ever it is that's got her panties soaked?"
Joey shuddered. "So not the mental picture I wanted. As for what's got her panties soaked as you so wonderfully put it, I don't know other than the fact it's not Yami."
Sharpened teeth flashed in what could only be loosely called a smile. "Yeah well the great and mighty Pharaoh of Upper and Lower hell can't be troubled with the likes of her. I know I asked him. I've never seen a person turn that color of green before. It was amusing."
"Shouldn't you be causing havoc somewhere that's not here?"
The dark stretched with an easy grace. "My light told me I should come keep you company." He reached out and snagged a handful of golden hair pulling the wide eyed teen close. "Thought you might be lonely."
"Not interested. Let go."
"Fine. I offered. You sit down here for however long you think you should with whatever demons are running around in that thick skull of yours. Hell maybe you should poor yourself a drink while you're at it. Be just like old times won't it mutt."
Joey was on his feet in a flash. He may have needed Ryou but Bakura he could live without. Besides no one mentioned his drinking problem around him anymore. 'Gods only know what would happen if they do' he thought bitterly. 'I just might take a flying leap off of the sobriety wagon.'
"Calm down. I was just messing with you."
"Don't. It's not funny."
Brown eyes narrowed. "I'll tell you what. Let's play let's make a deal. I'll leave you alone and you quit fucking my light. How's that sound?"
'No one's supposed to know. He can't. Ryou promised.'
The tomb robber smiled flashing dangerously sharp teeth. Ryou had told him time and time again not to file them and yet they never seemed to dull. Now that was a nice bit of magic right there. "Don't be so surprised blondie. He couldn't have hid it from me if he wanted to. How could you think I wouldn't figure it out. Ryou's not even a very good friend of yours and yet you're over here all the time. Now why would that be unless you were messing around with him. What would your friends think?"
Joey's world swam. He wouldn't tell them would he. They wouldn't understand. They couldn't know. If they found out about Ryou then they'd find out about his crush on...No he wouldn't let them find out. He couldn't loose them. He needed his friends more than he needed the air he breathed. Turn about's fair play he decided. "Maybe I was just thinking about that guy you killed. About 3 months ago wasn't it?"
"I was doing you a favor you fucking brat. You and Ryou came whining about him to me not the other way around remember. I took care of your problem nothing more. Just be glad I'm not asking for anything in return."
"Face it hot stuff" Joey started to walk out of the room. "You may have me by the balls but I don't think you've bothered to look down yet because I've got yours too."
"Stay away from my light!"
As he rounded the corner of the living room the amber eyed teen ran into the very person he didn't want to see. "Hey Yug."
"Hi Joey. Umm are you okay? I heard Bakura yelling and thought maybe..."
"I'm fine. He's just being a bitch." A quiet giggle from the other made him smile. "So pizza. Let's go get Ryou and convince him that it's okay if his food touches because that is one of those weird habits that annoy me. Honestly who doesn't want their food to touch."
"Ryou. Although I'm sure there are other people as well. I heard Mokuba Kaiba won't eat fish because it tastes blue." The smaller male tilted his head letting his bangs fall into his eyes. "I don't get it but whatever right. I don't like swimming myself."
"What? How can you not like swimming?"
"Joey I'm five foot nothing. Even the shallow end of the pool is deep for me. Of course if you're let me climb up on those broad shoulders of yours I wouldn't have to worry about it." Yugi winked.
'Wait...Did he just...Yugi?'
Ryou came running into the room and slid to a stop beside Joey panting slightly. "Sorry. Dad called. He was talking to some gypsy girl that's part of their camp and she mentioned my name. Got dad worried because he didn't tell her about me. I had to reassure him I was still alive and breathing. So, where to?"
"Pizza" Yugi said and started out that door.
"And after that swimming" Joey added.
Ryou blinked. He had the feeling he had missed something very important. He hated pizza. And Joey was shaking. He had felt it when he leaned against the other as he had come into the room. Ryou hated to be the last to know things. It always caused trouble. "Should we call Tristan and the others?"
Joey nodded happily already reaching for the phone. Nothing like having your friends around to make you feel better. He tried to ignore the twin sets of eyes staring at his back. Ryou always worried and Bakura...well Bakura was odd.
